Went to Mastros on a random Friday night and had a great time! Friends and I ended up sitting at the bar and it really said the vibe for the night. They had live music and it really set the mood! There's nothing better than sipping on a dirty martini and listening to live music Vibing out. My bartender Martin was amazing. We did not have any light bites or food this night, but I can't wait to go back for more.

Stopped in for dinner for restaurant week. The couple we were with already checked us in so we dropped our coats off at the coat check which was very convenient. Very cozy vibes all around. We sat in the bar area so we were able to watch some sports games. I went with the tuna sashimi followed by the filet and ended with the cheesecake. Each course came out on schedule which was nice. Sashimi was spot on with a great sweet sauce and jalapeño. The filet was a perfect medium rare and very tender. It comes out on the plate it was cooked on so be careful it's super hot. The cheesecake was of a softer texture which I enjoyed. Great spot to try during restaurant week.

I came to Mastro's on Thanksgiving Day for an early meal and to watch the football game at the bar. The bartender was friendly and on point, and the Assistant GM Che came by and was super cool. The whole team gave off a great vibe. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, the lobster bisque, and the sautéed spinach, and finished with the mini butter cake for dessert. Everything was excellent and the service was smooth from start to finish.

Everything went well. The service was great. The waiter was attentive with minimal struggle as it seems he had a lot of tables. The ambiance was beautiful it could be casual outing, birthday celebration, romantic date, or work related it fits. The bar area had a wonderful pianist/singer. The dining room area you could hear the music but conversations took over. We ordered two bottles of wine a reisling and a red blend. Great options. The food temp was excellent. We ordered cesar salad, a few bone in rib eyes, porterhouse, spinach creamed and sauteed, calamari, oysters, garlic mashed and a few loaded baked potatoes. The flavor of the food was perfect nothing was over or under seasoned. Parking valet ($20), street-metered, or parking apps/garages. All of the employees that we encountered were very kind.

It's definitely overrated. The manager was very nice however the waitress was sales oriented. She kept just asking "anything else" instead of creating an experience for us. The bigger the bill the bigger her tip but she made it very obvious. She was very aggressive. Food is nothing crazy. The drinks were extremely strong. Pure vodka with a splash of flavor. It's a very elegant place.

We had the most incredible dinner at Mastro's Steakhouse in Chicago to celebrate my husband's birthday on Friday! This place is our go-to for a reason--it's truly the crème de la crème of steakhouses in the city. With so many options in Chicago, Mastro's still manages to stand out--and honestly, it deserves way more love. We each ordered the 8oz filet, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. We shared the Caesar salad and French onion soup, both of which the staff thoughtfully split for us. For sides, we had mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and mac & cheese--all hits. And let me tell you, the complimentary bread basket served with truffle butter? Chef's kiss. Pro tip: Add the blue cheese crust to your steak--it's a game changer. If you're thinking of getting it Oscar-style, ask for the sauce on the side so it doesn't overpower the steak's flavor. Our server Tim was phenomenal. When a neighboring table got a little too loud (someone was actually on speaker phone), he immediately offered to move us. The manager, Agim, also went out of his way to make things right and comped a round of drinks. The customer service here is truly next level--they always prioritize your experience. We can't wait to come back. We love you, Mastro's!

The staff was extremely attentive and accommodating. My friend and I requested to share the lobster bisque and the waiter was quick to say that wouldn't be a problem. They served it to us in separate dishes. Additionally, I requested a cocktail to be made with a different liquor and they were able to do that as well. My filet was perfectly crispy on the outside and cooked to my preferred temperature, medium rare. The ambiance was very nice as well with a beautiful red staircase that leads to the bathrooms upstairs. There was live music at the front of restaurant as well.

Reservation for 9 was cancelled because the credit card was declined. The mistake was quickly fixed by the Maitre'd (that's why you need them). Live music that was incredible. Food including complimentary bread basket and soft butter was amazing. Tuna sashimi was high grade tuna in a spicy brown sauce. While the tuna didn't need the peppery sauce, soaking up the sauce with the bread made me happy. Medium rare steak filet was great. Easy to cut, although knife wasn't dangerous just effective. Ended with mango sorbet and blackberries. Sorbet was unique and mango centric. Service was excellent. Great place for a terrific meal or event.

My date and I came here during restaurant week. We absolutely loved everything! The food, desserts, the cocktails and service was phenomenal. I'm definitely coming back, I highly recommend this steak house.

Note: not our 1st rodeo @ Mastro's Our server Omar was the most perfect server I ever encountered and the food was delicious as usual. Came for Restaurant Week (RW) but only 1 of us participated. Love that there are 4 different options in the bread offering - didn't realize they charged for it though. For restaurant week I had: Crispy Garlic Tuna Sashimi Norwegian Cold Salmon (Blackened) Signature Butter Cake Drink - Glass of Kesseler Reisling My mom ordered from the regular menu and had: Lobster Bisque Jumbo Lobster Tail Drink - Call An Uber (?) We shared: Brussel Sprouts Grilled Asparagus Here's where it gets REALLy good - my mom read a version of the menu online that included Oysters Rockefeller but wasn't on the menu in-restaurant. Omar was able to ask chef to make them and also offered to bring me a small salad alongside (not included in RW or asked for) so I wasn't just sitting while my mom had her 1st app. RW came with dessert and my mom didn't order any dessert. Omar brought her a butter cake too! Everything was good - only changes we would've made is instead of clarified butter being served with the lobster is that we had butter with some of the cream still in it. Needless to say, Mastro's food is pretty phenomenal but so is the service. Will be returning again & again.

I love Chicago steak houses but I haven't been to Mastros in years! I usually go to maple and ash but I think mastros is better! I forgot how good this place is! I can't wait to go back again. Amber was my server and she was excellent and Kim the manager checked in often and was amazing! Everything was scrumptious. My friend enjoyed their steak and seafood as well. The portion was so generous. My daughter finished the other half of the steak when I got home. I had the side dish Scalloped potatoes, the NY steak parmesan crust, and butter-cake the desert to die for.

Went for restaurant week and my friend's birthday. We started with the tuna and it was really good! We all also opted for the steak and got lobster mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were seriously sooooooo good and they recommend sharing portions but idk I feel like I could've finished enough of it alone. It wasn't too loud in there and the football game was playing. Our server Raina was very nice, helpful and attentive :)

This was our second time dining here. The first time we visited this restaurant was on our first official date back in 2021. Then we were supposed to mark our 4 year anniversary (est 2020), here last year but couldn't so we moved it to January this year. Prior to visiting we had a conversation with another couple and they expressed some disappointment here but that didn't discourage us, we knew what we had experienced in the past so we went still. And we did not regret it. In fact they upgraded their service, from the door in to the door out, Valet, EVERYTHING was on point. We were sat where we wanted to sit, the food was PHENOMENAL! Gosh! One of the few very few restaurants in America that actually give you your money's worth. The drinks were good too, they had Mocktail options which tasted delicious. We sat in the dining area which was were we sat the first time we visited and it was so romantic, I felt closer to my husband that night. They really made our anniversary special. One thing we noticed was that the waiters and waitress were on their feet, eager to answer any questions you might have and willing to help. Even when we were leaving and about to take pictures, our waitress not only agreed to take us the picture but took us to a perfect position with great lighting! Can you beat that? That night on our way home, we decided to make it official, this will be the restaurant for all major family celebrations going forward, anniversaries, celebrations etc and if they keep up this good work, we will pass it down to our children.

My friend had the Double Wagyu cheeseburger. Everything was relatively good, the steak frites cooked a little too done for me though. The salad, the thick-cut bacon, and the cheeseburger were delicious. I am not a fan of the truffle mac n cheese, but then again I don't really like truffle, so take that into consideration. Dessert was delicious! Apple Pie and ice cream were literally so good. I recognize the steakhouse is an upscale, chic take on traditional Korean dishes and I admire the chef for sharing his culture with the city. I also understand restaurants are going to be more expensive, the closer you are located in relation to downtown. Even so, in comparison to other nearby high-end restaurants, the price to portion ratio for our meal felt off. For example, our $16 dumplings included 3 dumplings on a plate. Yes, there's an argument for inflation and the cost of quality ingredients, but I argue that at this price point we shouldn't have left hungry either.

For my boyfriend and I's first sit down meal in Chicago, I chose to indulge in brunch at La Grande…read moreBoucherie. I had seen it previously advertised on TikTok and decided it looked like a nice, upscale dining experience and the perfect mimosa-filled brunch opportunity. Upon coming in at 11 when the location opened, I was already impressed by the beautiful cafe inspired French interior. The warm lighting and refined Parisian details were so beautiful and elegant, and I especially loved the look of the bar, which is a central statement of this restaurant. I chose the French toast breakfast and my boyfriend got the steak and eggs, and we both had mimosas as well! My French toast was light, fluffy, and delicious, definitely a solid choice. My boyfriend was super impressed by the steak and eggs and said it was the best breakfast he had our entire trip! The food itself was great and I would love to come back and try their dinner menu at some point. The service, however, is what truly stood out to me in our experience. Our servers were very helpful, knowledgeable about the menu, and speedy. We truly felt taken care of. Fernando was the sweetest and most welcoming, and he immediately made my boyfriend and I feel so welcomed and at home in Chicago. We greatly enjoyed our conversation with him and he even gifted me a coffee table book detailing the history and menu of La Grande Boucherie, which was so kind and such an amazing gesture. Fernando set our experience apart from any other dining experience in Chicago and he made this meal one of our favorites!

Came here last night for dinner with another couple for the first time. While the food was good,…read morethe service was not so I don't think I'll be back. For starters, we had a reservation which I would recommend. We were seated right away and while the place is large inside, I'm not sure what walk-in availability is like. The food: we really enjoyed the octopus, escargot, I had the Filet Mignon Au Poivre, and the banana/coconut entremet. The octopus was tender and flavorful; octopus cooked right (especially in smaller pieces) is hard to find so I was impressed. The escargot was nice and buttery/garlicky, and piping hot. I LOVED my Filet with the green peppercorn cream sauce! It was delicious and my husband was surprised I ate so much of it. It was cooked exactly as I asked, the meat had good flavor, and the sauce was delicious and well balanced + the right consistency. Lastly, the banana and coconut dessert was a pleasant surprise. The banana flavor was fresh (not artificial) and had the right balance of coconut. It was creamy, not too sweet, and had the right balance of textures with the outer coating and the crumble underneath - if you like banana or coconut at all I'd say it's a must order! The creme brulee was just okay. My issue was the service - the table next to ours LIT ON FIRE because a menu was over the top of a candle. After burning half the menu and the fire was getting larger, our partners ran over and put it out with their napkins. They yelled and there was NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT from the staff at all - at least 2 staff saw and one waiters eyes got big for a minute and she turned away. Not even a thank you from anyone to our partners for putting it out, and they had to ask for new napkins because theirs had black char on them. We were in the middle of enjoying our appetizers and my friend was just digging into her French onion soup from our first round and the staff kept trying to take our plates away. My friend had to tell them 3 times to please leave the soup at the table, and overall made us feel very rushed. We weren't taking a long time to eat at all so felt very weird? When the entrees were dropped on the table, my friend got a steak and they kept trying to give her a butter knife. It took multiple attempts to get the correct knife. Then once we were done eating it took a while to get our plates and old glasses cleared away. Overall service timing was off and their aggressiveness in the beginning of trying to take our plates away + the lack of response to A FIRE in the restaurant was pretty alarming. While I enjoyed the food there, the service was pretty bad and I feel unsafe with the lack of response to a fire in the restaurant so I don't think we'll return.
