First time visiting Sakura. This establishment had both Japanese & Chinese options. I went with the steak Habachi, served with zucchini & onions & rice (minus cooked carrots). The steak was flavorful and not chewy or stringy as you might find at strip mall restaurants. This restaurant is located near The Dollar Tree & Thomasville Wal-Mart. I visited around 2:30pm for lunch, so the place was empty. Staff friendly and attentive but didn't converse much. I will absolutely try this location again. Just a little more pricey than the average Chinese restaurant. My order cost 12.50 with a beverage. Establishment is clean (even the Men's bathroom) & spacious.

Great food! Great service! The hibachi chicken is so moist. Love the Philly cheese steak egg rolls.

Always a tasty and fast choice. I've gotten both Chinese and Japanese options and love them both.

So, there's really not an amazing Japanese restaurant located in Thomasville, so when you get a…read morelittle craving for it, your pickings are slim unless you are willing to drive a good distance. Shoto's is one of the few choices available and it's located in the ALDI shopping center on Randolph Street. I placed my order for pickup over the phone, so I can't say how the dine in compares. I will say, I stood inside at the entrance for a good 10 to 12 minutes before anybody showed acknowledgment, which is quite frustrating to say the least. From what I could tell there was one waitress helping dine in customers and what little staff remained looked like they were trying to appear too busy running around to notice me. Again, not pleasing. I'd be totally fine with a "We will be right with you," or "please give us a few minutes," or even a "sorry for the wait," but I didn't get anything close. A lady finally came over with a few take-out bags in her hands and asked what I had ordered. Luckily, one of the bags was mine. I paid and immediately left. By the time I finally got home, my food was about room temperature. I heated it up no problem and had hot food again. The vegetables had a lot of extra soy sauce in its compartment of the to-go box, which made them a little soggy after sitting in it for a while. I also felt like they were a little skimpy on the vegetable portions, considering I ordered a hibachi vegetable plate. The majority of my plate was rice. Note that In the picture, there's tons more rice under the small portion of carrots, if it's hard to tell. Overall, I would say the food was basically average, but relatively salty. I think they just went a little overboard with the soy sauce. The restaurant didn't seem very busy, but maybe I caught them in a bad day? Sadly, when rating this particular visit, I guess I'd remove 1 star for the wait without acknowledgement or apology, and 1 star for the quality of the food. I don't think I'll be back for a while, but maybe next time will be better.

Serve was good. The waitress was very nice. We had sushi which was ok at best. The girls each ordered hibachi steak one had mushrooms (vomiting child) and the other opted to get her steak and broccoli to go because we stopped to eat before needing to arrive somewhere else by 5:30. I think the extra stewing in steam helped cook her steak beyond food poisoning levels. It's an odd location and there didn't seem to be a decor plan. Lessons learned.

It's been a long long time since my last review of Shinko Grill, and really everything I wrote has…read moreexperienced some kind of change, so I wanted to update it for the post pandemic era. Since then, the half price sushi hours are no longer in effect, replaced with more standardized lunch specials and combinations. Three basic rolls for x, two specialty rolls for x, etc... as well as specials on hot food and the like. Due to this, I just haven't found myself there very often, and until my experience last week it had probably been two or three years honestly. We came during lunch hours on a Saturday. The lunch specials are good every day, not just weekdays, so that is a good thing. Ordering was simple enough, still done at the counter, given a number, go have a seat. Drinks still self-serve, no wait staff or the like which is totally fine. We ordered a general tso's chicken combination with fried rice and an egg roll, a basic two roll combination of sweet potato tempura and Ro Roll, and a two speciality roll combination that I honestly cannot remember the specific names of. There were also crab rangoons. My first area of dismay, even though we were eating there, everything came in to-go containers creating a ton of trash and waste. Plastic utensils, cups, everything. This was not the case in the past. I guess they've done the financial math that it's cheaper than dishwashing, but it's terrible for our environment. It would have been better if things even came combined on paper plates than this. As to the food, we were disappointed. Nothing other than the sushi and maybe soup appears to be made there, definitely true for all fried things. Rangoons came with plain duck sauce. Egg rolls the size of your index finger. Sushi wise, the sweet potato tempura roll was the best of the bunch. The fish tasted fine, nothing off putting there, but also nothing pleasant. The flavor combos just didn't make me want to eat more... and they were all crammed into to-go sushi trays with dry horseradish ("wasabi") It is not common for me to leave sushi pieces for the trash, but I did this time. Ultimately, the things that used to draw me here just didn't seem to be in place. But the price isn't bad at all. If you are more concerned with value, and don't mind some of the things I listed above, this place could work for you.

Don't order delivery from here... I get that it can take DoorDash (can't even order off of…read moreDoorDash, you have to use some other app off their website) to take a while to pick up an order, and I get if you're busy and it take a while to prepare the meal, but why was my order ready 30min before it was even scheduled to be picked up? And now, once we finally get our food, it will be pushing an hour and a half old... not really the way you want your potstickers and sushi...

My…read morebest friend and I were on a road trip from Richmond, VA to Asheville and this was the halfway point. We were heading to AVL for my bachelorette and throughout the weekend we kept going "GOD THAT RAMEN WAS SO GOOD!" We came on a Wednesday evening. It took a little to get seated and service was on the slower side, but it was worth it. There was a lot of indoor seating and we were seated at a booth. They have mens and womens restrooms at this restaurant. And a lot of free parking out front in their parking lot. We started off with an Alaska roll as an appetizer. This was really delicious! We knew we were off to a great start. I got the black garlic ramen and my best friend got the red spicy oil ramen. We were in heaven. This ramen is beyond delicious. The rich garlicy broth of mine was perfection. Each element was so yummy. I would drive the 3.5 hours back just to get this ramen again. I highly recommend going.

He (an African American male) was treated terribly from the moment he went inside. First, the receptionist acted funny toward him and non-friendly, as if he was stealing someone else's order. That was strike number 1. Then, when he got home, we realized our order was absolutely wrong. We were missing the Spider Rolls and the yellow tail. We spent almost $70 so of course, this was irritating. He called the restaurant on his way to get the missing items and once again, the receptionist was rude. She questioned if he knew what yellow tail and spider rolls looked like. Questioning and insulting his intelligence as a grown man. That was strike number 2. He asked to speak to a manager and he said there wasn't one and he would need to come tomorrow to speak to one....yeah ok. He told her that wouldn't be necessary because he was pulling up to the restaurant in about a minute. When he came in she continued to argue with him about his order and told him, he needed to bring it back...why would he bring back the items that were right in the order, when he was there for the MISSING ITEMS?! Not to mention, that's extremely unsanitary! She would not help him but instead argued so badly with him that the chef had to come out of the kitchen. The receptionist spoke to my husband as if he was a child. She talked to him as if he was a thief and a liar. Strike number 3. The chef then told my husband, he would take care of the missing items for him and to not worry. Now, why couldn't the receptions in treat him with the same respect and dignity that the chef did? I'll tell you why. She racially profiled him because of the demographics of the city where the restaurant is located. She treated him as if he was uncultured, ignorant, and a liar. We will never be back and will be sure to write every single person that matters and leave reviews all over the internet exposing this racist establishment. I will be sure that everyone knows exactly what happens when a black person enters the restaurant.
