    Sashimi Deluxe

Love their Sashimi Deluxe, plenty of servings and of course the cute plate presentation. Not a fun of fried calamari, doesn't taste fresh, and had better somewhere else. The service was quick and server was excellent.

Worst sushi I've ever had and that's including gas station sushi and frozen supermarket sushi. I paid $20 for 3 "rolls" worth of soggy, warm rice and eel sauce. Every bite was disappointing. There were TINY amounts of the fish ingredient in each roll and one roll was mostly iceberg lettuce. Every single roll was drowning in eel sauce. The only way to explain these glowing reviews is a lot of people who have either terrible taste or have never had GOOD sushi or both. Ordered a ginger dressing (2 oz for $1.25!!!!) and had to ask for it at pickup as it was not in the bag. That and the Miso soup were salty and lacked any other flavor. What I got myself for a treat ended as a punishment. PLEASE don't bother and go to almost any other place for sushi. I recommend Sushi Republic or Hibachi Cafe, both in Greensboro.

ALL TIME FAVORITE! We love Yamatos!! We've tried a lot of sushi and hibachi places, and we always come back here. Everything is great, from the food to the service. The staff is friendly and knows their stuff. Always helpful with questions and food comes out quick. Some of our favorite rolls include Fancy Lobster, Tokoyo roll, Tempura Kamikaze, and spicy tuna. My brother is a huge fan of the hibachi steak. If you're coming on a weekend, it can get busy so come early!!

This place was awesome! The food was really good and it was also very flavorful!! I would give this place a 100/10!!

    Sashimi and avocado salad

I drove to this restaurant and ordered sashimi and avocado salad. They were quite busy with full tables and pick up orders. I shopped next door and returned to get my food. No problems, no stress. Pics show food as it was contained. I wasn't sure if I would eat it all at one sitting. (I usually show it displayed on a way that I like to present it in an appetizing/appealing way. I like to do this with all of the meals that I make special for Family and sometimes for myself.) Food was awesome and so great that I should have displayed it. I had no idea that I would eat most of it. I highly recommend this restaurant.

    Chicken broth ramen

First time dining in here and tried their chicken broth ramen. They provide an additional bowl if sharing the ramen- which i usually do because of the quantity. The ramen comes with a side of chili oil and the toppings are the typical egg, corn, bean sprouts. It wasn't as flavorful as i would liked it to be but i enjoyed it regardless. The edamame side i ordered was served piping hot, salt on the higher side. The service was quick and polite. Loved their little mints at the end.

    Shumai - fried shrimp dumplings
    Angela A.

We had no reservation on a Friday and were immediately seated. We started with Shumai, which is fried shrimp dumplings and it was served with a sweet and savory thin sauce. The dumplings were hot and seasoned well. The sauce added a little zing. For our entrées we ordered hibachi steak, chicken, and shrimp. It comes with a soup or salad, fried rice, and hibachi onions and zucchini. The soup was warm and delightful, but would be great with more onions and scallions. The meat was cooked as ordered (medium rare on the steak). Everything tasted similar to what you'd expect from a hibachi restaurant. Nothing extraordinary and nothing terrible. The meal was served quickly, so it's a great stop if you don't have reservations somewhere else. The staff was nice and attentive although they were busy. We will surely return.

First off this place can get busy!! But we somehow got sat pretty quickly. And as they got less busy, it felt less crowded in there and could hear the music playing. We started off with Yakitori, which is chicken with teriyaki. And it was mouthwatering! What stood out the most, out of everything we ordered, was the sushi. My little one and I love sushi. And this restaurant has place in my heart now hahaha. My little one devoured almost 5 rolls out of 6! She really surprised me! And thankfully, mine were spicy, otherwise, she would of ate mine, too. It was a bit pricey but I think the sushi was very worth it! 9/10 sushi is a must!!

My husband and I both got the lunch bento box and my kids split a chicken kids meal and we all loved it! Food was delicious and service was fast. My 3 year old decided to break a bottle of soy sauce and the staff was super kind and understanding. Want to come back here sometime without the kids for a date night with my husband and try some more sushi

Great place for your sushi fix. They also have other options like Hibachi. This business has great ideas on making sushi better by creative thought. Highly recommend if your in the area.

Sashimi Regular with White Tuna, Yellowtail, Salmon, Red Snapper and Tuna. Very good!
    Troy G.

Stopped in after/before movies on a Friday at 5:00. Service was speedy and the sushi was fantastic! My daughter got the Sashimi Regular, and I got some Nigiri sushi - salmon and yellowtail. Sushi was very fresh, fairly generous portions, and the Bagel Roll was excellent. I've struggled to find great sushi places around the triad but this one I'd put in the top 2 or three.

We order sushi where a lot on the weekends from for dash. The quality and freshness is amazing. Best Sushi in town hands down!!!! There is quality even in their to go orders which I appreciate so much.

Since then, the half price sushi hours are no longer in effect, replaced with more standardized lunch specials and combinations. Three basic rolls for x, two specialty rolls for x, etc... as well as specials on hot food and the like. Due to this, I just haven't found myself there very often, and until my experience last week it had probably been two or three years honestly. We came during lunch hours on a Saturday. The lunch specials are good every day, not just weekdays, so that is a good thing. Ordering was simple enough, still done at the counter, given a number, go have a seat. Drinks still self-serve, no wait staff or the like which is totally fine. We ordered a general tso's chicken combination with fried rice and an egg roll, a basic two roll combination of sweet potato tempura and Ro Roll, and a two speciality roll combination that I honestly cannot remember the specific names of. There were also crab rangoons. My first area of dismay, even though we were eating there, everything came in to-go containers creating a ton of trash and waste. Plastic utensils, cups, everything. This was not the case in the past. I guess they've done the financial math that it's cheaper than dishwashing, but it's terrible for our environment. It would have been better if things even came combined on paper plates than this. As to the food, we were disappointed. Nothing other than the sushi and maybe soup appears to be made there, definitely true for all fried things. Rangoons came with plain duck sauce. Egg rolls the size of your index finger. Sushi wise, the sweet potato tempura roll was the best of the bunch. The fish tasted fine, nothing off putting there, but also nothing pleasant. The flavor combos just didn't make me want to eat more... and they were all crammed into to-go sushi trays with dry horseradish ("wasabi") It is not common for me to leave sushi pieces for the trash, but I did this time. Ultimately, the things that used to draw me here just didn't seem to be in place. But the price isn't bad at all. If you are more concerned with value, and don't mind some of the things I listed above, this place could work for you.

I went on a Friday afternoon, with my toddler, and was sat promptly in a booth. The gentleman that waited on me was very patient, polite and explained how everything worked in its entirety. I started with a mango margarita cocktail with no ice and it was very good, extremely flavorful and you could really taste the mango. The sushi that was coming through on that conveyor belt was so fresh! A started with a spicy tuna roll because it came by first. The right amount of spicy tuna to rice ratio made perfect by the pickled ginger that my server brought to the table. I proceeded to have a perfectly fried spring roll with sweet chilli sauce, a few super star sushi roll pieces, a few shrimp avocado roll pieces, Crab Rangoon and shrimp shumai. The sushi rolls and fried spring rolls came fresh across the conveyor belt. There is no way of knowing what the chefs will add to the belt but it's a good way to try something you may not normally order. Other sushi rolls, appetizers and small plates can be ordered from the tablet provided for the table. Only a few items can be ordered at one time. This restaurant tries its best to cut back on food waste and will limit orders and charge you for any excessive sushi on the table that you can then take home with you. The crab Rangoon and shrimp shumai were both very good. My son enjoyed the chicken nuggets and French fries. There's also ramen and noodle dishes, hibachi, chicken katsu and other items on the menu so there's something for everyone. I'll definitely return with my family so they can experience this restaurant!

In the end, I just don't feel my original 5 holds up. The restaurant is absolutely a super cool concept, tech forward, and fun for groups and people new to the sushi scene to try some things. When it comes to the actual eating experience though, the taste just doesn't hit home for me the way it did when it opened. Every sushi roll I got was so over-coated in sauces that it's all you could taste in your bite. That's either a heavy handed chef, or a mask for flavors you might not enjoy. In my mouth unfortunately, it just makes a texture-less mess, and part of what I enjoy about sushi is the layering of textures. Not that I expect to be blown away by AYCE sushi, but I had hoped for better than what I got. More simple nigiri pieces were ok. The seared tuna wasn't seared at all really, no brown carbonization, just a little grey. That doesn't impart the desired flavor. Hibachi options were also just fine, when originally, that was a strong point here. That people who didn't absolutely love sushi would still have good option to order. There was one vegetarian roll that included strawberry, mango, avocado that was very good, but again, the amount of sweet chili sauce poured over it was overbearing. I found myself scraping it off any way I could. Finally, one very annoying thing. The items on the conveyor didn't have any labels. Not even our server knew what some of them are. It's common practice to put a little flag before a row of items goes out so people know what they are. It creates food waste, or shuts people with some kind of allergy off entirely due to not knowing what things are. All in all, the novelty of the eye candy has worn off for me, and I just don't enjoy the food as much as other options in the area, even in the AYCE sushi space. But, this is definitely an experience a first timer would love, and it's fun for families.

After placing a call to Little Tokyo to confirm they too weren't filled to capacity, we headed there for our sushi fix, and it made me regret not having visited sooner. Little Tokyo boasts a pleasant, relaxing ambiance that made it a welcome refuge from the night's rather intense rain. The menu here is Japanese (sushi, sashimi, hibachi, etc.) albeit with some Korean and Chinese influences. The selection of sushi rolls is extensive, and quite a few of them sounded intriguing. Admittedly, the Italian (a California roll topped with white fish, tomato sauce, and cheese) was a bridge too far even for me. My wife and I came hungry and went with two apps (steamed dumplings and vegetable gyoza), four rolls, and two misos. The food was, across the board, quite good. Whereas some miso can blast you with salt, Little Tokyo's broth benefitted from an underlying richness. Our sushi was beautifully plated and tasted fresh. Of the rolls we tried, the Bulgoki (beef, crab, cucumber, and eel sauce) was my favorite. Prices here are reasonable for the quality of the food (rolls in the low-mid teens, most apps under $10), and severs are polite. The kitchen isn't lightning fast, but we didn't find the wait unreasonable. Based on ratings, I expected "good," and based on hunger levels and a desire to be out of the rain, I would have settled for "OK." Little Tokyo, however, ended up being surprisingly great.
