A friend and I met here for lunch a few weeks back. We usually have a tough time deciding on a place, but she had been wanting to try Sala Thai and I have never been to a Thai restaurant, so it seemed like a good fit! We were quickly seated and placed our orders. I went with the pad Thai and my friend went with the larb. My experience with pad Thai was limited to the Trader Joe's freezer section, so I was excited for this meal. My dish came out piping hot and nicely plated. I requested a low spice level and my request was followed perfectly. My friend was very happy with her dish as well, though she wished it would have been a bit spicier. Just got out of a yoga class, and Sala Thai happened to be in the same plaza. I've been wanting to try this spot too, so it was meant to be lol. Giving a 5-star rating because they served me even though they weren't supposed to be open yet for another hour and a half. I was a starving marvin and didn't want to wait so I truly appreciate the accommodation!!! The restaurant has a nice southeast asia vibey -- I fit right in :) I got the pad se-ew with beef as my choice of meat. They offer 5 levels of spices and I settled on a 4. My family and I love sala thai! Our go-tos are the pumpkin curry, papaya salad, Thai tea. It's family owned and I believe there are two locations. I like that they open early on special days like Father's Day or Mother's Day. I spent my Mother's Day here because I knew typical breakfast brunch places would be busy. Sure enough we were the first ones when they opened lol. The wait for food isn't that bad. The place is clean and staff is friendly. This is a great little Thai spot in Northwest Phoenix. There's plenty of parking in a lot shared with a few other businesses in a strip mall along Lake Pleasant Parkway in Peoria. We are always greeted warmly, and the service is exceptional and very friendly. The food is also very good. Everything here tastes delicious. They use clean grease for the fried food items and the vegetables are fresh. Today we ordered: - Coke Fountain Drink - Thai Iced Tea - FRESH SPRING ROLLS STARTER - 3 pieces, rice noodles, cilantro, carrots & lettuce. The spring rolls are sliced in half so it's actually like six pieces. The kids always order these and really enjoy them. - CRAB WONTONS STARTER - 6 pieces, crab meat w/ cream cheese in wonton wrapper. Very good crowd pleaser - ORANGE CHICKEN ENTREE - Battered fried chicken served with sweet orange sauce on the side (This is one of our favorites and we order it for the table to share) - FRIED CATFISH W/ SALA THAI SAUCE - panko crusted, battered fried fish fillet with Thai chili sauce on the side (I ordered this with spice at level three which was perfect for me. It's a bit spicy, but not so much that it's painful. The waiter said this was one of his favorites and a very good meal. I agree that it was so delicious and fried perfectly. The fish was mild and tender, and the Panko crust was crunchy, with very clean grease used. I will definitely order this again. - GARLIC SNOW PEAS ENTREE - Snow peas, fried garlic, carrots, onions & bell peppers. This looks absolutely delicious. This is the second time hubs has ordered this so it must be very good. He added chicken. - WONTON SOUP - Ground chicken OR pork wrapped wontons with mixed vegetables. My daughter ordered this with chicken. It's a large steaming bowl of comfort. She loved it and ate all of it. - DRUNKEN NOODLES (PAD KEE MOW) - my son ordered this with added chicken. This was a good classic noodle dish that he enjoyed. - PHAD-THAI - Rice noodles, eggs, beansprouts, green onions and ground peanuts. This was a nice classic pad Thai dish. My daughter loved it. There is table and booth seating inside. I noticed a lot of to-go meal orders kept the staff quite busy as well. Our food is brought out quickly and it was nice and hot. Honestly I'm pretty impressed with the food in arizona considering I'm from California so I'm not really sure what to expect. We tried this thai place after looking up on Yelp and decided to come here! We ordered fried catfish with chili sauce, Tom yum soup and crazy noodles ? 1. Catfish with chili sauce: 4/5 this was really really good! Comes with rice and it was definitely one of my favorite. However, it was a bit salty in my opinion but otherwise, it's great! 2. Tom yum soup: 5/5 SOOO GOODDD and comes with lots of mushroom, shrimp and tomatoes. I would definitely order this again! 3. Crazy noodles: 5/5 similar to pad see ew but has more veggies like cabbage and carrots. It's still really good. I would order this again! Thai Green Curry is a comfort food for me. I was having A DAY. I found Sala Thai and it had solid reviews. The location is ideally placed and although my order was a pickup, the restaurant seemed vibrant and clean. It was very busy! My food was ready on time and piping hot. The Green Curry was ok. It seemed to lack flavor, and the vegetables weren't what I have been use to in past (eggplant and bamboo shoots were missing). The chicken was glowing green (which I assume was the curry), and a bit off putting. I have never experienced that before. Lastly, it was more watery than creamy. I am not certain I will go back for this dish, but would consider trying something else. read more

Great service and large portions! The servers here are from Thailand and adorable. The food was abundant. I had to take half of it home. The Pad Thai sauce was on the sweet side. My wife an I were looking for a place to have dinner. We live in Surprise and were in the Glendale area. I remembered Sala Thai from when we lived in Peoria. My memory is still in tacked. My wife had here usual go to Thai dish Pad See Ew with Tofu. I looked up my previous review and I had almost the same item as when we ate here almost 7 years ago. The Chow Mein with pork instead of chicken and tofu. The Pad See Ew was good but could have been hotter. The Chow Mein was what it was like from years ago . Flavorful and tasty. This local Thai restaurant has stood the test of time. I don't know when we'll be back in this neighborhood but I know we can rely on getting good simple Thai food at Sala Thai. read more

I love tofu garden rolls... They are my favorite Thai food! I stopped at this location and was so disappointed with the tofu as they either deep-fried it or just fried it so it was dead. Hard as a rock, I brought it to the waitresses attention and she said they were are cutting them thinner and they turn out hard now. Don't waste your $10. read more

Small venue with delicious food! We were looking for a good Thai restaurant while visiting in Sun City. Our old spot closed down a few years ago, so we were extremely happy to find this place! We were promptly greeted and sat. The restaurant was maybe half full, but by the time we had ordered, it was full, with about 2-3 people waiting for take out. I took that as a good sign! My standard Thai meal is Red Curry with chicken. If I like your version, I will be back. I might try something else, or I might not, depending on my mood. I ordered spicy level 3, which turned out to be just right. I got the heat without losing the flavor. Sala's version includes red and green peppers, zucchini, green beans, bamboo shoots, and basil leaves. It was as good as anything I've had back home, and made me realize how long it's been since I've had this dish! Drunken Noodles, Pepper Steak, and Cashew Chicken, as well as eggrolls, were ordered by the rest of the table. Everyone loved their dishes. The owner was helping out the waitstaff at our visit, and said he would be revamping the menu a bit in the next few weeks. I have been to another Sala Thai before, but this was my first time at the Peoria one! I ordered online and it was ready super fast, pickup was really easy too. This is a smaller spot but would be fine for dine in too! I got curry noodles with double tofu. Price was about the same as other Thai places in the area! It was a good size portion and the veggies in it tasted fresh which can sometimes be an issue at Thai places! I will say I ordered level 2 spice and didn't taste any spice at all, so next time I'd go higher. Overall good and I would come here again and try something new. read more

I usually don't try places that do not have allot of customers but I came here to spend time with my cousin who chose this spot. Walking in the door all I could smell was poop. I don't know if their sewer was backed up or a pipe had busted but they certainly should've closed for the day. Because of the smell I really didn't want anything but I did sample the pineapple ice cream which was delicious. The service was amazing! This used to be my favorite but it has gone down hill. What I ordered: tom Kha soup I was told the veggies would be mushrooms, cabbage and onion and I asked to have bean sprouts added. What I got: tom kha soup with carrots broccoli and green beans. Called the restaurant to give them a chance to make it right they told me I should have to drive the 20min to return the food. I paid $19 for a vegetarian pad Thai. What a scam! I will never come back here again. I will take my hard earned money to other better tasting Thai restaurants. My wife's Pad Thai tasted different than what we're used to (more tangy and fruity tasting) and my dish was a little overly salted. The portions were bigger than we thought and the price wasn't bad. Food came out quick and HOT so be careful. Only thing was the table we sat at was a little greasy and when he gave us our appetizer plates, there was food stuck underneath.
