From the minute I hit the door I was treated like a long lost customer. It was fun walking in here and having so much attention. I look around at the lavish decorations and it's none of that kitchy Asian brass and plastic. This place was pretty elegant. I would recommend it as a romantic destination in the evening. There is a sweet little bar nook that looks like it's out in the jungle somewhere with bamboo on and hanging over the top of 3 chairs small and fun to be a great place to just come and have a beer. My meal time today is all messed up from Aaron's and appointments. So I thought I would come in here and try this wonderful food again I have not been here in years.And I'd like to tell you that I think it's better than I remembered it and that was pretty good. I'm eating the Prik king. Wonderful combination of flavors rolling around my mouth I had to chip one with the chicken and it's so delicious the sauce as perfection and I opted not to get the rice and got the wide noodles instead and that made it perfect. Oh I but. Oh I am definitely going to come back and find out what they make I may even leave with a couple items to take home. The owner of 14 years of Morocco was so nice and such a gracious host and introducing me to the chef (and wfe) who has her finger on every part of the food that leaves that kitchen and it's amazing wonderful culinary experience in here if you want to have your taste buds take a vacation and go to Issan the northern boarder in Thailand. This Sala Thai location is no relation to the others but still solid. It's in Richmond but took a little over 20 minutes without traffic. They have halal meat upon request. The space is pretty spacious for a group of friends to come enjoy some delicious Thai food. I will say it's a bit over priced but I'd come back to try some more items on their menu. read more

When I finally did make up my mind, I ordered the seafood combo pad se ew, fresh tofu rolls, and stuffed angel wings. The homie ordered spicy tom yum and chicken satays. Everything was nice with extra spice! Exactly what we were looking for. I asked for chili sauce and he brought out the good stuff: Garlic and Thai chili in a fish sauce concoction! Authentic af! I will say that this is not fully Halal and people need to be careful. I think you have to call before hand. Avoid this place if you're looking for quality and timely service! I called in a pickup order around 6:15 PM, and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. I showed up at 6:50, and there was no one at the front to assist. After a few minutes of waiting, the owner finally comes out and acknowledges me. I give him the name for the order, and he looks it up, only to tell me it'll be another 10 minutes. Meanwhile, he starts bringing out orders to people waiting in their cars outside. A couple arrives after me and gets their party tray, so now it's 7:15, and I finally get my order. I honestly feel like they didn't even start making my order until I showed up. It took exactly an hour from my phone call to get my food, which could've been avoided if they'd just told me it would take that long in the first place. Now for the food... I ordered Pad Kee Mao, which was supposed to be spicy but ended up tasting sweet instead. The fried rice with tilapia was bland and completely unseasoned--honestly, the only flavor was the sweet chili sauce they gave me. The papaya salad was a huge letdown too. It tasted mainly like the peanuts sprinkled all over it, with no real balance of flavors. The food was just not authentic at all. Sala Thai is one of the best kept secrets in the Hilltop area. We are new to the strip mall spot but once we found it, you couldn't keep us away. The food is delicious, you can literally taste the love that is being cooked into each bite by Chef and owner, Tip. Our go-to is the Sala Pot Stickers, the Eggplant, Pad Prik King, and Chicken Fried Rice. The BBQ Salmon is a favorite as well. The ambiance is fun with decorative details to keep all the guests finding something new to look at with each visit. The best part is the owner, Nadir (Dave), always greets us with a friendly smile and the type of kindness that automatically makes you a Bestie. Tying it all together are the servers and wait staff. Food is great but the young lady's attitude in the phone and in person made it a horrible experience. Last time I came a gentleman gave me the best service which is why I decided to come again. I called for the pick up order & my husband went to go pick it up. He had the same experience I had with her on the phone. Not welcoming at all. I'm very dissaointed in the food I've ordered. Papaya salad was so bitter from the lime wedges they mixed in it. Lime is supposed to ba a garnish amd served on the side, with it being mixed in it made the whole dish bitter. Next dish is the sweet & sour fish (pompano) I was not happy because it was way too sweet and think it over powered the fish. Rad na, this is one of my favorite dishes. This was very watered down in flavor, it needed more salted soy beans imo. Vegetables were all wrong too. Should be served with Chinese broccoli rather than American broccoli, there are also no mushrooms in this dish. Noodles could've been fried but it's not too common for them to do so. But I give it four stars because the prices were lower on the website than in the restaurant itself. Here's what I liked about this place: It's a cute place, their staff is kind (shout out to the cute hostess, Katie or was it Haiti?) and served quickly. Food is good. They had a live saxophone player which was pretty cool in our eyes or should I say ears? We love jazz.
