Talk about a super cute, cozy Thai restaurant that we picked for our first day visiting family in Phoenix. The decor is very colorful and calming and the booths by the wall give a super cozy feel to the whole place. We ordered a papaya salad, pad thai and green curry for 4 of us to share and I can definitely say I enjoyed the beautiful plating, garnishes, and dynamic flavor of all of the dishes. Everything was incredibly flavorful - umami and sweet where it needed to be, a perfect level of spice to what was offered. The service was quick and helpful. I unfortunately had to take a meeting while we were at lunch, but I hope to come back the next time we visit for a round 2 and to really spend my time enjoying the food again! read more

For the last year I have eaten here 1-2 times a month....me and my family think it is the best thai in the valley (or at least amongst the best). I got take out tonight and it was like it was from a different restaurant ....complete garbage. From the fresh rolls to the papaya salad to the spicy green bean and pad thai...everything was terrible...the recipes/ingredients seemed off and of low quality with little or no care put into the dishes. I can only surmise that: 1. It is new ownership and they don't know what they're doing; or 2. The real cooks were out sick or off tonight and the one(s) there tonight were clueless on what to do; or 3. Same ownership...now they are just mailing it in. Regardless, I feel like my money was stolen for this quality of food and I will never return. End of story. read more

Great reviews encouraged us to try this place. No frills strip center location, and minimal decor inside. Seated ourselves, and ordered. No iced tea available! How odd! No Thai iced tea in a Thai restaurant? Ordered satay chicken, pretty good. Crab puffs, which were a tad over fried, but very crunchy and pretty good. Fried shrimp were okay, white rice was perfect. Tried the spicy Thai sausage. Not what I was expecting. Not what I had and enjoyed at another Thai restaurant. My mistake, not theirs. When our waiter, a young man whose trousers were falling off and exposing his ass, saw that I had not eaten much of the sausage, he kindly offered to remove it from the bill. I suggested that I pay for 1/2, which was done. Overall, can't say we enjoyed the meal very much. Not a bad place, just not for us. read more

This restaurant is small with small menus but the food is so delicious. Thai beef salad is the best in town! I dipped sticky rice on the remaining sauce/juice. I ordered spicy level 4 for beef salad and papaya salad, and they are perfect. This place was recommended to me. It took me a while to get here. Just be forewarned there are only like seats for 25. By far the best Thai restaurant I have been to in AZ. Not only was the service impeccable with sinks being kept full. But a place that when you order Thai hot knows how to do it. We had the crab wontons, which were generously filled and hot out of the fryer. The pad Thai and the drunken noodles were so flavorful. We ended with the fried bananas with the coconut ice cream and the Mango sticky rice which just solidified the meal. Highly recommend and I will be back. read more

If you are looking for traditional Thai food, this is not the place. Some of the names are the same as in Thailand or other restaurants but the food is totally different. We drove for an hour to try this place. WE ordered four separate dishes to get a taste of a few things. One was Yum Nua, a traditional common Thai beef salad dish. When the waitress brought it to us I had to ask what is was. It was like a Ceaser salad, with some sort of salad dressing on is and some shredded been mixed in. Not a Thai dish at all. Ordered Sum Dum (Papaya Salad) again a common traditional Thai salad the taster was like something I had never eaten before and definitely not Thai Sun Tum. I tried to eat it but had two bites and passed on it, I asked it to be sliced, the was no spice at all. We wanted to try this place give them a chance and it was a $100 mistake. read more

It's a sweet little spot with a beautiful, warm, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing environment. The food is outstanding. Everything is cooked to perfection. The sauces are ridiculous. Wow super yummy and flavorful. I've been trying to find good Thai food here that is not fine dining like. This place had homey chill vibes. They had couches against the wall. Came around 10pm some people eating and chilling. It is hard to find good food open late coming from LA everywhere is open late. Food came out pretty fast, the guy manning the cash register was very attentive and helpful. I will def be back when I am in the mood for some Khao Soi or curry. Grabbed dinner with a buddy at Sala Thai last week and was very impressed with the taste and quality of food at the restaurant. The restaurant has a few casual dining tables, and you order your food at the counter. The service was great and the worker was attentive. The Gai Tod Na Khao was deliciously cooked fried chicken and had an amazing sauce to pair with. The Kho Moo Dang pork skewers were tender and I mixed them in with some rice and sauce. My partner and I are from LA and we found ourselves flying back and forth from LA to Mesa for a month. During this time, we hopped around different restaurants to find some favorites and familiarity during our stays here. Needless to say, Sala Thai Tempe was THE place for us. Service is incredible and the food is delicious!!! Having been all over Thailand last month, we missed Thai food so much - and the flavors here reallly hit. Highly recommend the Khao Soi, the Crispy Garlic Wings, Pad See Ew, Tom Kra Gai, Chicken Satay, Spicy Basil Leaves with Fried Eggs. For dessert, their fried banana is great, and their twist on roti is fantastic. I'm not sure if we'll ever be back in Mesa but we'll definitely miss this place bad; although we have a number of thai restaurants in LA, this place is quite special. read more

This restaurant is so cozy! The warm tones and the couches for some of the seating are very welcoming. The Panang Curry was creamy and flavorful. The Khao Soi was just as tasty, but lacked noodles compared to other Thai restaurants. However, both dishes had plenty of protein and other good stuff which I appreciate as it's becoming uncommon in restaurants today. I highly recommend this modern restaurant. read more

The best Thai food restaurant to go to. I went to this place a few times with my family and each visit is always filled with a welcome and friendly experience. The atmosphere is so cozy and really chill. Love the minimal decor and I think it's such a lovely idea that they provide a Polaroid camera for customers to use to capture their amazing time there!
