t's not a new concept, the custom salad. Salata gets a 5 because it sticks to its lane and does it really well. The servers behind the bar tend to be energetic, friendly students from the nearby high school. The owner is also friendly. Everything is fresh. They have vegetables, fruits, nuts, proteins, and anything else that might go on a salad. Some categories of ingredients are extra, such as proteins. These are clearly marked so there are no surprises. They are generous with whatever toppings are requested. Ask for more of what you like. They do not weigh the salads they combine for you. They sell by container. Fill it as you will. I've seen people take advantage to the point where the container will barely close but the server just smiles. It must even out. The restaurant is spacious and well lit. Plenty of natural light during the day. The minimalistic design just feels right. Value is great. You really can't go wrong. read more

Man it is a heck of a salad... huge even... loaded with all the things you want and none that you don't, but I got one the other night and it was $30+ once it was delivered. Now I certainly got everything I wanted.. and it was loaded to the brim (next time I'm asking for more corn) but the price just about threw me for a loop. Went to Alpharetta for a business trip and extended my stay for the weekend. Stopped at Salata for lunch after going into the city briefly and after a few days of being out of town and eating out, I needed something healthy and green, like a salad - Salata was a great find for just that! It was a salad or salad-wrap, fast casual, order down the line style where you build your own concoction. If you opted for a salad, they had a small or regular size. There were a lot of base lettuce options (you could pick any or as many as you wanted) and a few different "groupings" of mix-in toppings - again with a lot of options to choose from. It appeared (or I think) that most toppings were included with the exception of some "specialty" items that had costs associated, for example, avocado, choice of protein, etc (these were visibly priced). I built a mix of romaine and spring mix base with carrots, cucumbers, peas, corn, chickpeas, red onion, light radish, mixed cheese, and chicken for my protein - I think that's it. They had several dressing options, but I went for the classic buttermilk ranch. At the end you have the choice of crispy pita chips or a mini multigrain cresant style bread. One of the interesting or unique things I found was that if you ordered for there/eat-in, they kept it in the mixing bowl - otherwise, you can ask for or get it in a takeout container which is obviously used if you order it to-go. I ultimately did ask for it in the container just in case as the regular salad with all the fixings was a pretty decent size!! The ingredients were all very fresh and in great condition as expected and desired - the ranch dressing was great, and the little bread option was a nice touch to add. They had some great lemonade and tea drink options - I got the sweet tea being back down in the southern states, I just couldn't resist (counter-productive with a salad on the healthy scale) but it was a great sweet tea. They had plenty of seating available and a small selection of tables outside. Given the sun was shinning and it was pretty nice out, we opted to sit outside. It was very clean inside and as mentioned the ingredients were all fresh - portions were generous and I think most things can be added without wracking up a huge bill for add-ons. It was perfect for what we needed and fulfilled my need for something on the heathy side while being substantial and keeping me full for a while. Would definitely recommend if you're in the mood for a salad and something fresh and healthy. I asked if they do veterans discount, cashier went in the back and asked her manager (I can see her asking but manager said no), I was little surprised b/c other Salata place honor veterans discount, cashier came back, stated "my manager said no. Not even apologetic, just no. Okay that fine. Also they do NOT accept CASH here. Only card payment. Luckily I brought card with me or I will be very disappointed in this place. I looked around, there's NO sign stating (NO CASH accepted), red flag right there. I seat down and started eating, Other customers came in, they ask for some kind of discount, apparently one of the customer said "thank you" I was like wtf? they gave them discount? We had a great experience last night at The Old Milton Pkwy in Alpharetta GA Salata. Our daughter has several severe food allergies. When we arrived there were 3 employees eager to help us. Bella greeted us, and we explained that because of our daughter's food allergies, we need to have her salad made in the back, without cross contact of other food. And with new gloves. Bella was SO nice about it. We wrote down what ingredients to include in the salad. Bella smiled and said she was happy to help. The salad she made for our daughter was fresh, delicious, and safe! Just what I was looking for. Salad is like my second favorite food but it's too expensive for me to have at home regularly because I like everything but the kitchen sink in my salad and wind up having quite a few things go to waste. Which is a very long winded way of saying Salata is bomb. All the mix ins your heart desires without the experience of wasting a jar of corn that you only took two teaspoons of. There are like 20 different toppings to chose from and you can get as many non meat add ins as you like (avocado being the exception) at no extra charge. Protein costs extra but they have great options ranging from salmon to pesto chicken. Slightly pricey (I paid $16 for the salad in my picture) but well worth it. read more

First visit and really enjoyed their salad selections. Salata is a setup where upon entering you let the staff behind the counter know how to prepare your salad based on the choices you view from the other side of the glass. Multiple greens to choose upon entering to start as your base: kale, spinach, romaine, mixed, arugula, and then more than two dozen toppings. I haven't been to a salad bar where grilled salmon, shrimp and imitation crab are options, along with pesto chicken, spicy chicken, herb-marinated chicken and steak are protein choices. Falafel and tofu were also available. Ten dressings to pick and seeds, quinoa or chips to top it off. Protein and quinoa are up charged -$4-$5. Depending on what you select, it can be pretty pricey for a salad. Two salad sizes -regular and large at $10 and $11. I added quinoa and chicken to a large salad and paid $20+ with tax. Not a big deal when you are sitting down at a restaurant, but a tad high for a carryout-style restaurant. (There is seating, so you don't have to leave to enjoy your meal.) I couldn't imagine paying $20/day for lunch if I worked at one of the nearby office buildings. This would be an every now-and-then lunch spot. Sorry this is long but I had to express my dissatisfaction. I am disheartened to be writing such a bad review but had to let folks know about the Alpharetta by the Avalon on Old Milton Salata's location . Let me start of by saying that I've been a customer of Salata for the past few years. I like to say my home store is the location in Johns Creek, Ga, on Medlock Bridge Road. They are fantastic Kudos to the entire team there. But the manager at the Salata on Old Milton (Avalon location) is absolutely horrible. I've visited this location a few times on my way home from work and never had any issue, until 2 weeks ago (The first inciden).l I did not know it at the time but was told quickly who he was. He stated how can I help you. I told him my order and he put some salad in the first bowl. Before he started putting the salad in the 2nd bowl I asked " oh can I have a little more lettuce please". He looked at me and literally put 2 pieces of romaine lettuce in the bowl. I said really, can I get a little more. He then states I am the manager here and this is how much you get. I replied, no thats not true. I've been coming to salata's for a few years and have never been told that. He then states well i'm the manager here now and that's what it is. I paused and then called to another worker who I asked to make my salad because I did not like the tone from the "Manager". The other worker came right over and made my salad. I asked him what was the "Managers " problem and he kinda of shook his head. He prepared my salad as I requested and I told him, If this is the attitude and service to expect at this location then I would not be coming back and left. --(Side note the guy who made my salad was great!) Fast forward to today 09/26/24, Hurricane Helene. So I left work and was on my way home and felt for a salad. I should have followed my mind and kept going but the optimist that I am, said give it a try maybe the "Manager was having a bad day. I walk in and see the "Manager" helping 2 customers. He was in front of where the bacon bits and soup containers are. Another employee who came from the back started to walk towards me to help me. I cant' make this up. The Manager stops her as she is walking to me and tells her to finish making the salads for the two people he was helping and walks over to me and asked what can I get for you. I stated " No thats okay, I'll wait for the young lady to finnish to make my salad. The Manager than states No I will make your salad. I replied no I will wait for the young lady to finish. He interjects and states I will make your salad and if you don't like it, "You Can Leave. I said again if I am requesting someone else to make my salad because clearly you have an attitude problem I can. He then states no I am the manager here and what I say goes, You can leave. I did just that and drove over to my home location on Medlock bridge where I was greeted with a smile and my order was made perfectly. I didn't even have to ask for more of anything. I know this is long but I had to write this review. I will definetly tell my co-worker's at the hospital and the urgent care near not to visit this location. I did the mixed seafood as my protein and it was amazing. They do offer rewards for downloading the app that you can scan when you checkout. Alpharetta location is grand as it's within a completely brand spanking shopping plaza, across from Avalon, and everything looks super clean. Every time I go inside, it's super packed but the line goes super fast as you pick and choose to customize your salad. Cherry on top is that they actually do have protein, from chicken to tofu and shrimp. Minor complaint is that I wish the staff won't rush you... like I can't see what's in your station that's 2 stations away. I get that you want the line to keep flowing, but just wait until I get in front of you... Salata, salada, potato, potata. I am wondering why it's not a -da to end this name, but hey, I was able to find it on google maps. Came here over the weekend with a friend for lunch. You know the assembly lines are all the rage these days, and here is yet another instance for one only this time it's salad! They have the calorie content on everything which makes it slightly less fun, because I was realizing my salad was going to be like 900 calories especially with my whole grain roll. I guess it's a good thing, but also very bad, because I didn't realize how quickly those numbers add up. So you start with a base, salad, romaine, spinach, mix, whatever you want, and then you move on from there. You can choose small or large bowl, and I think the small bowl is plenty and I have a really good appetite. There's a really good variety of veggies and fruits and nuts to add to your salad, and a fair amount of different dressings to choose from. At the end of the line, you pick your protein and stuff like quinoa, falafel, tofu, seafood mix, shrimp, chicken. They will mix everything for you, or you can get dressing on the side. You can add a small little roll to go with it, and the only additions you pay for are the proteins, avocado, the stuff at the end of the line. So for under $11, you can really get a pretty full meal. Drinks like soft drinks, teas, water, etc are also available for purchase. You can eat in or dine out. So disappointed! I love Salata. The one in John's Creek is always amazing. Walked into this location for the first time tonight and was immediately disappointed to see they didn't have a couple of my favorite toppings, the ingredients were not as fresh & picked over, and the proteins just looked sad. I knew that I would at least get some delicious lemonade at the end. The person at the counter happily charged me the extra $$ for lemonade but when I got to the drink station they were out of every lemonade & tea. That's what they are known for! The gal acted surprised that there wasn't any drinks and offered me a coke instead. Not what I'm usually looking for at a salad joint. Then a man came out and said that all the drink stations were under maintenance!! Seriously? This was 2 hours before closing. I felt like the staff just couldn't wait to get out of there and they just stopped replenishing everything well before 7 instead of maintaining a stocked & clean restaurant for customers to enjoy their dinner. Unfortunately, the lack of customer service and poor selection might make it our last! They were out of multiple toppings and didn't offer to replenish. Employees behind the line hardly spoke. I felt like I was eating tortillas for lunch. Also they never clean their tables. Every single table was dirty. We are going to speak to the manager and tell them what happened. I really like the salads here, when they have all of their items stocked. This location seems to be out of veggies a lot. Or, when I come during lunch they aren't restocked because it's such a busy time. The woman who works here most often makes you feel like you're bothering her if you ask if they might have more of a particular item. We've eaten Salata salads 3x now, since I discovered them a few weeks ago and I suppose that should tell you how much we like them to start with. We've done takeaway pickup twice and then dined in at the restaurant this past weekend. This is an "assembly line" salad place, sort of like the Moe's or Chipotle of salads. You order your basic salad (large or small) or wrap, and then make your way down the line, choosing your toppings, dressings, proteins, and accessories. Every salad we've had so far has had fresh crispy ingredients and generous portions of everything. There's a large selection of proteins, including 2 kinds of chicken and salmon and even falafel. The delivery/pickup salads are a good size and well prepared and presented. The jalapeno avocado dressing is excellent with a spicy, zingy bite! My only one small quibble is that I feel like the pita chips are a little overcooked - they're so dark brown they are almost burnt to my taste. Next up, the salad prep area, again, SO clean. They have three options: small or regular size salad, or salad wrap. The pricing does not include the protein added (starts at $3 per protein). SO many salad topping options, think Jason's Deli but even more quality, healthier options. The part that set this salad eatery apart from others in the local area is the dressing options.
