We had a reservation for 5/21 and had the best time. The staff is very kind and welcoming. Our server (older gentleman) was the best, he was funny and very knowledgeable when it came to the menu. The pizza is AMAZING, def try the pizza. The pasta (pesto sauce) was sooooo yummmm. You can def taste how fresh the pasta is. Everything was so good we came back the next night LOL. The staff even remembered us which was sweet. This was our favorite dinner spot and so excited to come back on our next trip to Maui. After having burrata here I won't be able to have it anywhere else haha. The hazelnut gelato was also very delicious, very fresh.

Amazing food and service! Italian dinner and Hawaii never crossed my mind, but thanks to several recommendations by people at our hotel, we made a reservation. Our meals were incredible. Some of the best gnocchi with a light but flavorful cream sauce that I have ever had! The whipped ricotta and bread for an app was incredible as well!

If we could give 10 stars we would! From start to finish amazing meal!!! Homemade EVERYTHING! Started with meatballs, arancini cacio e Pepe ( homemade rice balls stuffed with cheese served over homemade pomodoro sauce), mortadella and pistachio pizza, homemade rigatoni with speck and saffron cream, tagliatelle alla bolognese... the vanilla panna cotta was so amazing! Fresh tiramisu mind blowing, Affogato with hazelnut homemade gelato! Insane flavors! I can't say enough about the ambiance, service, food quality and presentation! Not to be missed by tourists and locals!! Grazie

We heard great things about this restaurant so we decided to try it out. Make sure you have a reservation or you probably won't get a table. We ordered the insalata verde salad to split and it was really good. We then ordered the rigatoni con speck and the Quattro pizza and shared both of those as well. The food was delicious and very flavorful. Our server, Kate, was very knowledgeable when it came to what wine to order based on the food we ordered. We sat upstairs, it was nice but there are no windows. If you get a chance to eat there I would definitely recommend it.

When I think of dining in Maui, I didn't expect one of my most memorable dinners would be an Italian restaurant... But here we are! I am so happy I listened to the reviews and booked a table for dinner (make reservations! I booked same day) we sat on the patio with the stars overhead and a pleasant warm wind. Every table was filled with happy patrons, both inside and out. Our waitress was lovely and provided great recommendations for each section, always remembered to check on us, and even had great conversation. The food- The pancetta with egg pizza. Incredible. Their flour is imported from Italy and you can truly taste the difference. My husband and I are pizza obsessed people and we truly felt the lightness in the crust and how it didn't make you feel bloated was due to that. The ingredients were flavorful and fresh and all around a top notch pie. The shrimp pasta. Honestly? A perfect dish. The star of the show. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and is homemade. The shrimp was jumbo and not overcooked. The chopped garlic and sauce was just delightful and I found myself dipping my pizza crust into it (lol). 10/10 The tiramisu was light and delicious with a thick creamy consistency. Paired with espresso just ended the night perfectly. Tip- if you want a N/A drink try the phony Negroni!! To wrap this up, the food is stellar. The service was great. The ambience warm and inviting. All around a great dining experience. Would come back in a heartbeat!

10/10- no notes. From the moment you walk in, the staff is welcoming. After that, I saw my name saying "Ciao, Jacqueline!" which just made this experience extremely personalized, I loved it. Our waitress was on par with anything and everything we needed. On top of that, the food was absolutely spectacular! If you are on the hunt for a beautiful, delicious, and worthy Italian place, this one is the best on the Island!

Spent too much time looking at this sign waiting to be seated for our reservation (and walk ins seated before us).

I loved Qiana and Michele's story of resilience, being the first restaurant to open after the 2023 fires, and I expected my family and I to have a wonderful experience for dinner last night. But we didn't. And it was due to logistical decisions made by staff. Let me explain... We had a 7:15pm reservation but arrived to a large crowd waiting out front and no one at the hostess stand. We were able to check in closer to 7:30. I felt assured when Qiana politely told an impatient patron that she had to seat those with reservations first. But that party of four, and others, were seated before us. After 40+ minutes waiting, Qiana apologized for a table that was lingering and asked if we wanted to wait for a table upstairs or be seated on the crowded lanai (with several young children) or wait a bit for a table upstairs. I chose upstairs. We waited for that lingering party to depart; no one left. Then 15-20 minutes later, we were seated upstairs. That was one hour after our reservation at 8:15pm. The logistical decisions and bad luck continued because there was a large party of ~10 also seated upstairs and they took priority over us. Our entrees arrived 45 minutes later (9pm by now). By this time, my family was very hungry and a little mad at the situation. I felt disrespected for the circumstances. The staff was nice, but actions were speaking louder than words. I usually rave about food in my reviews, but the long wait and how situations were handled (there were more I'm not describing) colored our special evening out and how the bites were received. Our evening at Sale Pepe turned out to be a low light, instead of the highlight I expected, from our Maui holiday.

Of course, when in Maui, you want Italian. Well, my kids did, and we ended up here, inside the food court of Whaler's Village in Lahaina. They both loved it and didn't have a single negative thing to say. The wait was a bit for a bowl of pasta and a slice of pizza, but they had just opened, so I understand. They would totally come back to this place and that's saying a lot coming from my picky kiddos.

This is by far our favorite restaurant on the west side of Maui. I saw Sale Pepe pop up in my feed, but it was rarely mentioned in my Maui Facebook groups. The menu looked good so we decided to try it. We went thinking that we were going to pick up a couple of pizzas and head back to our resort after a long day of sight seeing. However, we stayed for what felt like an intimate home cooked Italian dinner. Everything was so delicious we decided to make a second trip back before we left the island. The food is superb. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about food and Italian cuisine. We enjoyed every single bite. Sale Pepe was definitely a highlight of our trip. Our servers were Kas and Jason. ‍

What a gem in Maui! We arrived after 8 pm on a weekday without a reservation in September. After a short wait, we were seated at the bar. Service was excellent. The hostess clearly prioritized reservations (and seems to held tables for late arrivals), so I'd definitely recommend booking ahead. We tried a salad, the Spaghetti Neri con Gamberi e 'Nduja, and a special sardine pizza. Everything was absolutely delicious. The oil from the shrimp heads paired beautifully with the squid ink pasta, and the pizza dough was perfect. The chefs' love story and the re-opening after the fire make this place even more special. Truly a must-visit.

Amazing! One of the best food experiences I've had in my travels. Everything was 10/10 delicious. Wait staff and atmosphere was also phenomenal. My only regret is not having enough room for dessert. Everyone was eating it but I was already over the top stuffed. We added lobster to the gnocchi and did not regret it for a second. They have several non-alcoholic drink options as well. Great experience. Who would have known Maui would have great Italian food?!

We discovered this Maui treasure earlier this year. Sadly, the original was lost in the Lahaina fire but determination and will led the owners to reopen in a new location up the hill from their original. Everything served here is either from Maui or Italy. The owners are truly engaged with their customers and our server (Katie) was attentive, knowledgeable about the food and wine and very friendly. She is a treasure! The puffy dough was amazing. Very light puff pizza dough with olive oil. Light, flavorful and delicious. The pizzas are Neapolitan and I've never had a better one, even in Italy. The next night we had a prawns, shredded zucchini, linguini in olive oil and a lasagna. Perfection! The mahi was grilled over a wood fired grill and was fantastic. I could go on endlessly but it's just easier to go yourself and try it. You won't be disappointed!- we went there 4 times on our last trip to Maui

    Crostini de gamberi

AUTHENTIC. That's the one word I would use to describe here! Simple ingredients, and flavor punch! We've been to Italy and the first bite from here brought us back! Between the 2 of us we had a bottle of wine, the crostini de gamberi, their special pasta (basically a bolognese with beef cheek... drool), their tomato pesto pasta, and a calabrese salami pizza. Yes.. we ate like "typical Americans" and over indulged and didn't regret it at all. The flour is imported from Italy, so you don't get that "bloated, full feeling" gluten intolerant ppl can eat here without having an episode, and the staff.. was beyond helpful! We had Francesco idk if he's the owner but a lovely person. They had indoor and outdoor seating, the cutest little spot away from the madness of the resorts. A must stop when in town!

The ambiance is laid back with the beach bar and grill. It has a beautiful view of the ocean with great sunsets. We usually eat in the dining room and one of my favorite meals was the Macadamia nut encrusted Opakapaka. Since Opakapaka is hard to come by these days, it is no longer on the menu. I want to take this occasion to write about the fantastic meal I had the other night. First, our server Michelle was really wonderful. She had a great sense of humor and made our dining experience all that more memorable. The daily fish special was Onaga and we had never had it. Michelle mentioned it's hard to come by and recommended it. The fish was amazing - very fresh, moist and very similar to Opakapaka. If you ever see if on the menu, get it. It will be a memorable experience. The fish was served on a bed of rice with a beurre blanc finish and fresh carrots. An amazing preparation. I would also recommend the Hula Pie for desert. It's big enough for two (or three)
