Located in The Shops at Wailea, the Aurum Maui restaurant has an elegant casual vibe with its upscale features and seating configuration. Service was spot on as our server, Matthew, kept a watchful eye on our table and needs, yet did not approach or interrupt us continually unless a plate was to be cleared off or to top off our drinks. We enjoyed their Paniolo Smash Burger, the Lobster Toast, along with an order of the delicious Mediterranean Meatballs. The Paniolo Smash Burger has two char-grilled patties of local beef topped with caramelized Maui onions, bacon and a slice of American cheese (we ordered their "burger sauce" on-the-side). The char flavor help define that "extra taste" on the burger -- Fries or Loaded Fries are available for an add-on. The Lobster Toast was served on focaccia lightly toasted bread, which was topped with a decent amount of lobster meat mixed with a milky -almost too much so- shaved fennel and whipped avocado salad. The portion was decent as an appetizer or for a light-eater's meal. The Mediterranean Meatballs was another delicious appetizer-size portion of three savory meatballs consisting of local pork & beef with a few spices. The underlying sauce of lemon yogurt with a hint of mint harissa made the dish sing. Delicious. Aurum Maui is a relatively newish eatery (July 2025) at the Shops of Wailea, and we hope they continue to thrive. As the restaurant got busier, the noise level rose considerably. Solid HH (2-5pm) with portions identical to regular priced items. Very kid friendly. They provide writing tablets and cute water straw cups for kids to use. Smoked Hawaiian Fish Dip: Tasty and dill forward. I wished the texture was softer for dipping. Mediterranean meatballs (3): Generous sized and tasted like the ingredients stated. Farm greens: Would have preferred slightly less dressing, but tasty. Lobster toast: very generous portion of lobster. Keiki meal : got it with fish. We had such an amazing time at Aurum - honestly one of the best spots at The Shops at Wailea. For drinks, I went with a seasonal hazy IPA - hoppy, a little citrusy and dangerously easy to go for seconds. My wife ordered a cocktail in a martini glass (name = gone, memory = blurry), but it was smoky, smooth, and officially ranked her #1 drink of the previous 10 Maui trips which is saying a lot. Food-wise, the burger was super juicy, savory, and exactly what a vacation burger should be. Then wifey got the bone marrow? Her palates' reaction? Completely off the hook!!! Not a "share politely" dish - more like "protect your portion at all costs." I did steal a few brains from that bone while she kept her eyes close filled with joy. My wife and I decided to try out the happy hour at Aurum and we're glad we did. The hostess was super welcoming and led us to a comfortable place to sit. The restaurant's decor is really nice: pleasing to the eye, soothing in style and comfortable. I started off with a refreshing Hawaiian beer and then we ordered three appetizers: Mediterranean meatballs (pork and beef with cucumber salad and a lemon yogurt and mint harissa sauce); fried chicken with gochugang bbq sauce with pickled radish and macadamia nut crumble buttermilk herb dressing; and crispy curried cauliflower with shishito peppers, golden raisins and macadamia nut dukkah. All three dishes were delicious, although in the case of the meatballs and the bbq chicken, on the heavy side with robust flavors. Our waiter was terrific: friendly and helpful. Happy Hour at Aurum was good and generous. My favorite was the Crispy Curried Cauliflower. Very well prepared especially with lemon yogurt sauce. However, the Mediterranean Meatballs didn't come off well. They were quite dense. The Fried Chicken with gochujang bbq sauce was too sweet and thick that made the chicken not crispy. I really wanted to love this place but ended up just liking it. Walking in the ambiance is a modern boho with curved lines throughout, really well done. The service was friendly but seemed forced making the interactions with the hostess and our server feel awkward at moments. The menu is simple but has options for all cravings and all the food was plated beautifully. The fried chicken appetizer had good flavor was served warm (not hot) and some of the pieces had fatty skin creating chewy pieces. My wife had the fresh catch and it was a little dry and had ok flavor. I had the pork chop and it was more undercooked than the server promised but it was served precut so there was no way to fix it. Also my meal was served warm again and not hot. The mela overall had different flavors that were ok but not amazing. The Apple Cake dessert looked amazing but the bread portion was served cold which was such a disappointment. read more

The entire experience from the staff to the food was beyond my expectations. So, a little back story. A big storm closed the west side of the island and we desperately needed a nice romantic place to help celebrate our anniversary. We were told that Aurum is a must by the locals we have come to know over the years. And all I can say is Mahalo everyone. The server, Santi, was great. He truly cares about the customers experience. He knew about my wife's food allergies and made sure to speak with the chef to make sure we would be ok. We had a few happy hour cocktails and they were fantastic and priced very reasonably. This is huge to share, almost good enough as a lunch entree for me. My boyfriend ordered the beet salad and added kampachi collar. Rich, roasted, and so indulgent it probably should've come with a waiver. Slather it on the toast and suddenly you're wondering if butter even deserves a place in your fridge anymore. The Tale of Two Chickens I ate at Lineage Wednesday night and Aurum last night. Lineage is famous for its Korean Fried Chicken ($48) and it's incredible. It was my first visit to Aurum and I like to try a difficult dish the first time I dine somewhere new. I spotted the Simple Root Chicken ($45) and asked the server about it. He said it is cooked sous vide style (to keep it moist) and then broiled to golden brown. He said it a leg and a thigh and very popular, so I tried it. It was a breast, not a leg/thigh, and while it looked great, it was dry and virtually unseasoned. I told the server and almost had a Lineage Chicken delivered to the kitchen so the chef could see what a proper Chicken dinner tasted like! read more

Came here about a week after they opened for my parents anniversary. We had a reservation & were seated right away. A very modern chic looking spot with indoor & outdoor seating. Menu was on the smaller side, with a unique variety of items. For starters we got the loaded french fries & smoked hawaiian fish dip. Dip was good, I wish it had a little more smoke flavor to it. Portion was also a bit small with a few crackers, so all of us were only able to have 1 cracker per person. The fries were really good. Bacon glaze mixed with cheese fondue was the perfect salty sweet balance. For dinner I got the mushroom campanelle pasta, which had a cheesy buttery wine sauce. The lighter sauce really brought out the mushroom flavor, very umami. I'm not sure if our server maybe thought we were only having appetizers, but we sat for a while until he came to check on us & we could order our dinner. While writing this review, I noticed that a couple things we ordered are no longer on the menu. So I guess changes were made within a month of them being open. read more

I give this place a 3.5 stars. Everyone that works there was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is bright and airy. We came in for lunch and discovered that they offer a small menu that serves as both a lunch and dinner menu. I ended up ordering the Mediterranean meatballs with tzatziki sauce and a side salad. My husband just ordered the loaded fries. The side salad was a great companion to the Mediterranean meatballs and the loaded fries were excellent. Even with all the sauces the fries were crunchy not soggy. We do want to come back for Happy Hour because the options look good too bad it doesn't start until 3:00pm. read more

Maui's newest eatery opened on 7/19/25 in The Shops At Wailea. Aurum has three other locations in Colorado. ATMOSPHERE: They've taken up several spaces on the mall's west side first level. Decor and lighting is warm and bistro chic with house music playing overhead. Outdoor seating is available along with a private lanai for larger parties. Indoor seating is a mix of plush benches, semi-private booths, low tops and bar. RESERVATIONS: Recommended since they're new. PARKING: Plenty of free parking within the mall. MENU: Intimate mix of American, Italian and Asian dishes, desserts and a happy hour menu. No liquor license as of this review so BYOB is okay. A few dishes were sold out. FOOD: Kauai Prawn Okonomiyaki My second ever Japanese pancake had delish ocean-y flavors from the furikake and juicy shrimp, with a pleasurable crunch from the cabbage. Recommended. Hand Rolled Ricotta Gnocchi The savory fennel sausage is definitely the star of this creamy-esque dish. Recommended. Fried Chicken Sticky like ribs, the tender and moist chunks of chicken were crazy flavorful and not overly sweet. Highly recommended. Crispy Curried Cauliflower A nice alternative to the mundane fried Brussels sprouts offered everywhere, these lightly-curried and slightly sweet Brassicaceaes had pleasing crunchiness and sear to their exteriors. Highly recommended. Lopes Farm Pork Perfectly cooked and juicy, the meat simply needed more seasoning/salt. Pan Seared Kanpachi With its flaky meat and crispy skin, the fish needed more "zing". Loved the chunky root veggies. Lobster Seafood Roll While not the biggest of rolls, the lobster had a tad too much dill that overpowered the crustacean's natural flavors. DESSERT: Haiku Honey Ice Cream Laboriously hand-churned, the scoop of ice cream was really soft. A first for me, the bee pollen had an unusual chewy texture to it, while a friend was surprised at its intense flavor profile. Coconut Milk Panna Cotta Tasty and creamy, it wasn't set so it was very runny. SERVICE: Everyone was great, especially our male server who was very engaged and knowledgeable. Tried this new eatery at the Shops at Wailea last week with my family that was visiting me for the holidays. We got seated in the back patio, which was nice and dog-friendly for my little furball. The design is so nice and so needed here on Maui, so 5/5 there for design and vibes. The menu is pretty diverse and was vegetarian-friendly. We all ordered various dishes, from the kids' mac n cheese to the cauliflower dish to the crudo. Everyone enjoyed their food. The server, Bo (Beau?), was very helpful, kind, and easy on the eyes haha. He helped my large party order the items they wanted and the service was very smooth. Disappointing experience for our last night in Maui. We went in late (8pm) and the place was bit empty. The staff especially the lady at the front desk and the server was nice. The menu was very limited and pretty expensive for what they offer. The beet salad was good but something you can get anywhere and the fish (fresh catch of the day) was apparently good but didnot think it was worth what we paid for and the portion was on the smaller side. I came here specifically for the kids menu - as I thought the chicken/fish (fresh catch) with vegetables and rice meant reasonable veggies for the kids - but it was just cauliflower. So the fish/rice/veggie combo just was plain white starchy sides (rice/cauliflower ) Nothing colorful - not even carrots or peas. The chicken apparently was fried chicken I would not recommend as it's quite expensive for what you get and not many menu options to choose from. read more

No mustard noticeable... just high quality beef and some nice cheese...but oh so PLAIN... Finally the BBQ chicken was bolder, with nice flavor.. I was so happy to finally have some flavor. I hoped for BOLD flavor for a Korean dish, it was tasty but not at all bold as I was hoping. Overall underwhelming in the taste category for a chef driven restaurant. Celiac Safe! Just happened in on this restaurant and I'm so glad I did. Had a small dinner, fried chicken and beet salad, delicious. They have good gluten free protocols and a dedicated fryer which is awesome for anyone with Celiac. The service was excellent and the atmosphere and look of the restaurant beautiful. It's in the mall, so no ocean views, but the restaurant is so pretty it's a pleasure to be there. I'll be returning for that fried chicken before heading back home from this trip. When I first walked in I could tell immediately Aurum Maui was special. I found myself in a warm, comforting atmosphere full of enticing yet subtle scents. Natasha as hostess is kind, convivial and greets you with a full aloha welcome. I was seated and promptly assisted by Justin who had a vast knowledge of the menu and was well educated in accommodating gluten allergies. I chose Aurum for its ethically sourced ingredients as well as its conscious decision to provide truly gluten free options. Justin answered all my questions and provided good suggestions. I chose two dishes. The first was a visually stunning citrus cured Kona kampachi crudo in a delectable broth. It was a delight to all of my senses. Undefinable and mysterious. Light and flavorful. It is one of my all time favorites of any restaurant anywhere; that is saying something because I have been blessed to eat well in some lovely countries. The second dish was the pumpkin soup with coconut cream, mint, and pepitas. This was deeply satisfying, round and full bodied but not heavy. It felt gratified and satisfied. We sat at the bar and had two happy hour dishes that were very good. They have a liquor license now. Improvement! A happy hour $10 glass of wine is a plus! We had the curried cauliflower again, still very good, and new try was the smoked fish dip with fresh veggies vs crackers. Both were very good and loved the fact I could get gluten free 'veggies' vs crackers. The dip could be spiced up a bit more but it was better than the one offered at KOAST. Place was lively, service at the bar was top notch and the doors were open and well ventilated from the atrium of the Shops mall.
