Great selection of pinot noirs, in all price ranges. Staff were helpful without overselling or being snobby.

The primary problem was that they were out of many menu items by 6pm. The dining room is cool with a nice vibe, super friendly waiter and food came from the kitchen pretty quickly. Pimento cheese appetizer was delicious, one of the better versions I've had. Unfortunately the Pierogi were pretty bland and nothing special, and for the high price, just not worth it. Weird arrangement with the coffee shop located in the restaurant as well. Restaurant was out of desserts and coffee, but could not serve any of the desserts from the coffee shop case, as those were part of the coffee shop. Despite that, we will be back next time we visit Salem, and I'm sure they will figure out how to manage supply of food items better so they are not sold out before 6pm. Lots of potential here for a small neighborhood restaurant.

The restaurant is tucked away in a community filled with gardens and a wonderful quaintness. The book exchange program or library checkout program offers a variety of books that helps explains the humanity and beauty of Black people in excellence and glory. After reading so many books and providing a report-you receive a free meal. Luv, luv, luv the concept. I wish other restaurants would mirror this example.

You order at the counter and then you get a number to take with you and place at whichever seat you choose. Drinks and food both came out really quick. I tried the bees knees which had honey, lavender, rosemary and simple syrup with a dash of black pepper. I did not see nor taste the black pepper but I was a huge fan of this drink. It wasn't overpowering in any of the flavors and the rosemary sprig made it look so cute. I got the breakfast potato hash with no tomatoes and it was a delicious and filling breakfast. The potatoes were so good my group wouldn't stop helping themselves to them. I added some hot sauce as it was in the dryer side but still really good. I also tried the matcha coconut scone. It had a pretty matcha green color but it was hard to taste the matcha or coconut and it was quite dry. Service was quick and friendly. The inside is really beautiful and we couldn't help but do a little photoshoot, so many fun backgrounds! Things to note: Restroom shared with other businesses close by businesses and metered street parking only.

They do not do bbq anymore due to lack of demand. Understandable. We were then given the choice of a burger or wings. Nothing else. Then some sides/appetizers options, which were hand written on an order slip. 2. We went at about 6pm our beers were super foamy. The bartender said that the co2 is weird with the first pours of the day. So a bit annoying. 3. We ordered mozzarella sticks and as an appetizer then the burgers. It took 35 mins for us to receive our burgers then the mozzarella sticks came out. The mozzarella sticks were cold inside. 4. The burgers were very basic bbq bacon ranch burgers. They cook personally came out and raved about how he came up with this recipe and was the best in the northwest. It was just bbq sauce mixed with some ranch. He also came out asking what we wanted on it and then proceeded to forget our tomato's.

Since then, and on a less busy day, The Vault has cleaned up beautifully. The barman was welcoming and quick on his feet. The sign out front read "BBQ is ready" and, sure enough, when I asked for the run-down, he talked me through the spread. In the end, a 1-meat 1-side plate won out. I requested the brisket (which was great, and generously portioned, though a bit dry to be the best in town) and the street corn (which was incredible, and definitely the best in town). It seems BBQ is becoming a competitive business in Salem! The Vault is keeping up with the best of them, but here's the real kicker: the plate came out to only $15. For meat of that caliber and quantity, not to mention the elotes, that's beyond a steal. If The Vault continues to offer this level of quality in service, food, and drink, any early-days missteps while finding their footing will be drowned out by the good times they roll out. I hope they can keep this momentum and continue to offer exceptional service complementary to great good and drink.

We got a little carried away and ordered way too much but everything was so good! For appetizers I tried The mini charcuterie: perfect single serve size or definitely to share of other appetizers are involved. The bread, apple and jam was my favorite pairing on the plate and the cheeses were really good! Baked Brie and mixed mushroom: who doesn't love a good baked Brie! The mushrooms added a much needed earthy element to the richness of the cheese and it was also smothered in delicious buttery garlic cloves. I with the little bread sliced had been toasted but easily one of the best times on the menu. Steak bites: garlic butter was tasty and the steak bites were soft and melted in your mouth. The bread slices didn't seem necessary but a good appetizer. I ordered the salmon as my main entree and it came with arugula, Brussels sprouts, red onions and tomatoes. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the dressing on the greens was really good. I think there was a little too much arugula but everything tastes really great together. Our server was attentive, friendly and remembered everything we ordered right down to the modifications. Really cool atmosphere, upstairs seating and a crazy looking bar area. I don't see us being in Salem again anytime soon but if the time ever comes we will 10000% be enjoying all of our meals here. Things to note: shared restroom with surrounding businesses. No parking lot, only metered street parking but free after 8:00pm.
