I was worried about him going under anesthesia and was panicking but after speaking to the nurse , anesthesiologist and dentist I felt at ease. Got a referral to have my autism son have some dental work. they said they treat people from 5-17 1/2 yet they told me because he weighed 150 pounds they can not see him due to the women there only weigh 125 and wouldn't be able to move him. If he's sedated why would he need to be moved? Back to the drawing board I guess. Seems like a shady ass place and the 2 people I talked to one was a complete waste of a conversation. The other tried to help but never in my life have I ever heard of my son can't get his teeth fixed because he weighs to much. Sounds like discrimination if you ask me! I had to come on here and share my experience since there is so many negative reviews. Let's start by saying, this is a SURGERY center so the wait time, is LONG! You aren't coming for a regular dentist appointment. It does take 4-6 hours which is fine with me because i wouldn't want ANYONE rushing my child INTO or OUT OF surgery. The other reviews are mainly complaining about wait times, which is ridiculous. The office tells you multiple times, how long you'll be there. The anesthesiologist was amazing, he explained everything from a-z and made my child feel comfortable. the dentist was super compassionate and knowledgeable. I was scared as any other mother and she assured me he is safe with her. The staff is also very nice and helped me schedule the appointment with no issues. The office is CLEAN, the waiting room is large with children's movies playing. I'd def recommend this office! UPDATE: 24 hrs later after surgery, he is in ZERO PAIN, he says he's not even sore! I was really nervous after reading all the reviews on here. Today my son had his surgery and I am pretty impressed by the office. Everyone was friendly and kind. They explained everything to me in detail and I had no questions because of how well things were explained. They really took time to make sure my son was healthy and that his lungs, blood pressure and pulse were ok. I don't see why this place has such bad reviews. I want to start off by saying this place is a surgery center that accepts medical dental insurance. The wait time will be a longer since the procedures they preform here are, in a regular dentist office, done in 3-4 visits. You walk in give your information and fill out paperwork. They bring you back with a nurse to check vitals and ask health history questions when they're ready. After you go back out to wait. Then when they are ready the anesthesiologist brings you back to check vitals again and administer a sedative in shot form. I recommend letting your child watch a video to distract them and you. You will have to hold them on your lap in a way that they are secure for the shot. They will fall asleep fast. You go back out without your child. Billing will call you back after X-rays have been done and assessed. You pay (if you got something other than the silver option medical covers) Then you wait till everything is over. I went in at 8am and the procedure finished at 10:50. Then you wait for them to wake up in recovery so you can leave. The medical staff is really friendly and explains in detail well. Also what your regular dentist recommend could be off because the X-rays they preform here are done while a child is completely still so your dentist could have easily missed something. Silver crowns are free. Silver back with white fronts are $280 per tooth they are thicker. The all white option is $340 per tooth they are thinner and more natural. The other reviews on here are not that realistic. It's can be really scary to have to put your child under for teeth but don't over react. Ask every single question you can think of so you don't expect anything unrealistic. read more

I had to take my 5 year old in for dental surgery. I was very nervous reading all of the negative reviews and knew after our experience that I needed to leave a review. First of all, the place is clean. The staff was all friendly. They explained everything thoroughly and even caught a heart murmur we didn't know he had. Our appointment was at 10:00am. I was to be here by 9:45. Parking and seating were not an issue. I checked in and we waited approx 45 minutes before being called back. They checked vitals and went over everything. I was introduced to the dentist and the anesthesiologist. Then sent us back to the waiting room. At 11:30 he was given his shot (knocked him OUT). They took him for X-rays and in 20 minutes called me back to go over the treatment plan. I consented and they started surgery. He had 8 crowns, a filling, a spacer, and 3 molar extractions. The surgery took approx an hour. They called me in at 12:40pm to let me know he made it through surgery fine and they will call me back when he wakes up. We then will wait in the waiting room while he recovers fully. So all in all I spent about 4 hours for the entire thing. I believe this place is professional, kind and sufficient for our needs. We didn't have a bad experience AT ALL. If you are hesitant because this is the only place available to you and you have read many negative reviews, here is a positive one. Yes, the wait time can be a pain, but that's part of dental work. It's kind of nice that they got it all done and we don't have to come back for 6 months, sure beats several scary dentist appointments. I recommend Salida Surgery Center. read more

I would give this place no stars if I could. Due to their extremely unethical practices. They took me and my son back to a room and explained the anesthesia process to us, put him under, and then took pics Of his teeth and brought me out their treatment plan to sign off on. They wanted to pull 10 teeth. I was okay with pulling the teeth that needed to be but they wanted to pull 4 of my sons front teeth due to "crowding" I requested they leave his front teeth alone, because there is no decay and nothing wrong with them. The nurse went back and told the doc I disagreed with their treatment plan. Nurse came back out to me and said "I talked to the doctor and she said she can't guarantee those teeth won't be pulled. Their new reasoning was because "they might get knocked loose during surgery anyways" I told her, please tell the doc of those teeth are not in his mouth when he gets out of there, I'm going to be mad. She went back talked to the doc, came back and said the doc is now refusing to do any work on my child, we are going to wake him up and you'll have to go somewhere else. I was furious. How can they refuse to work on a child who needs dental work because I won't let them pull 4 teeth that aren't loose, aren't even close to being ready to come out, and no signs of decay, so they can bill the insurance for the extra work, to make more money on the procedure, because that is the only reason why they wanted to pull his teeth. I told the nurse to wake him up, and I left. I seriously questioned the doctors ethics after that and if I were you I would not take my children there. Ever! Update: took my child to sparkle kids dental on Tully Rd to have the work done. He only needed 3 baby molar teeth removed. Big difference from 3 to 10. 06/22/2022: I cannot express how upset I am with this place. They have no idea how insurance work. They ask for every little detail on the card (Issue dates, exp date, color on top of the card..like WTF) before they can set us up for an appointment and they ask us to give our card to them when we get there so, they can make a copy. It's crazy stupid how we must provide every details and our children SSN# to them in order to even get an appointment just to go into the appointment to RE-FILL out the application asking us the same shit and taking a copy of the card! They didn't even run the eligibility until the appointment date so, the whole hassle was a waste of time. I was told by the girl in the front that this could take a while for them to verify eligibility and benefits. We waited for over an hour and mind you not we had an appointment. I was livid! I read the reviews and was a bit concerned but I am going to tell u exactly what my experience was March 2022. From the start the girls in the office were on the ball. Calling every couple weeks to see where we were at with the paperwork. i called once done and I had an appt within 4 days. I chose the earliest appt at 7:30am since he was fasting. When we arrived they took us right in. From that point until he went to sleep was no more than an hour. I saw the intake nurse and the Anesthesiologist both explained everything in detail of what to expect. i also chose to pay an extra $300 for him not to have silver teeth in the front which was an option that I gladly chose for him. I waited in my car they called me when he was ready the doctorPersonally came out and explained everything to me what they had done and how he did and what not to do or look for when we got home. They had my grandsons best interest at heart. For the first three hours after he kept saying it's spinning but by the fourth hour he was out riding his bike and never once complained of any pain after having four crowns and countless cavities filled. I am having the worst experience ever just to schedule an appointment. It's now going on 3 weeks and we are absolutely getting nowhere. I originally was referred to them on sept 20 (today is Oct 10). They needed medical clearance. So I set up an appt with our pcp. I sent them our pcp medical clearance along with lab work on 9/26. They said they are now only waiting for medical records from our hospital stay back in dec of 2021. I have access to his medical records online so I sent that over to them asap. Didn't hear anything back from them so I called them the following week (Oct 3). They said they only received the physical forms (medical clearance) and nothing else. So I forward the email to them again. I waited til the 7th to call them back (to give them time to review). However, I was told they didn't get the notes. So I forward the email while being on the phone with them. Again she said they only got the physical form and not the hospital notes. I told her to scroll down... she then admitted she didnt scroll the first time. So she finally found the attachments and "print" them. I got a call a few minutes later saying they were only able to print the first page. So they will be waiting for the hosp to fax them a copy. I got a hold of the hosp and they said they never got any requests from them. So I called Salida office back to inform them so they could follow up with the hosp. I then realized that the Salida office can see and view my email, they just can't print it. So this whole time I thought they couldn't open my attachment to see the notes. However, I was told by "Jenny" that she can totally see the 26pages of notes. However, she just can't print it. So I told her to have the nurse review his notes on there. I mean, his pcp did labs and cleared him already so I'm not sure why they're being so difficult. She said everyone was out for the day so she will have them review it on Monday. Anyways, today is that Monday. I waited til about 11 to give them a call to follow up. It looks like no one knew what was going on so I was put on hold a few times. Finally was told that unfortunately, they cannot schedule me an appt until they receive a hard copy or able to print all 26 pages... even tho, they can clearly view them and have the notes right there in front of them. This is by far the most interesting experience I've ever encountered in my life. So I spoke to their supervisor "Rosie" I think her name was. Which was just speaking over me of what I was already told. So here I am... taking pictures of his hosp notes and sending them one by one thru email because the whole file was just "too big" to send all at once (which I've warned her of). I tried to call them back to confirm if they got it, but I guess they went to lunch because I keep getting sent to voicemail. Honestly, if they would just do their job right the first time.. look thoroughly thru emails or call and follow up with the right person/place.. we wouldn't have ended up here. A lot of miscommunication or in this case.. NO COMMUNICATION whatsoever. I understand there are protocols. But PLEASE at least follow up with your patients or whatever.. If I had just sat around waiting.. I'm sure even by now I won't even get a call back. At this point I don't even care how good the dentist is or anything. The way this office operates is such a pain! And that really took all our happy ending for this office. Now I'm kinda nervous about taking my son here. I'm afraid they will mistreat him while he's put under. I have younger family members who have gone to this surgery center. My brother has special needs and now hates going to the dentist because of his experience at this place. As a teenager, they couldn't offer services anymore because they didn't want to scare away other patients. I understand that going through general anesthesia can be very stressful so make sure you get a second and sometimes third opinion before going through a procedure here. While waiting to get started we were informed that if they saw any other work that needed to be done they would do it. I told them I did not consent to any other work. My son and I had a 1pm appointment for an exam today. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes to be seen. The dentist spent less than 1 minute with us and once my son started to whine when she looked into his mouth, she got upset and left. Also, I was told we were going to discuss costs and the dentist left in a hurry. All i was told it will take 4 to six weeks to get costs breakdown with insurance. There were people in the lobby and parking lot who had more than 2 hours waiting to be seen. The employees would have to go outside and look for their patients. Here I am still waiting till 1 pm on a fast for my poor four year old son!!! The rules to fasting as applies for anesthesia dental procedure "Eating and drinking instructions- one of the most important safety parameters for anesthesia provision is following appropriate guidelines for eating and drinking. Failure to properly follow these guidelines can result in a catastrophe for the patient during anesthesia. The challenge with restricting eating and drinking is the time of the procedure. Everyone wants the early morning case as it is typically the most convenient for the patient and easiest to restrict food and fluids. Obviously, it is impossible to only see patients first thing in the morning so it becomes necessary to schedule patients at different times during the day. With the revision of guidelines for eating and drinking, this really does not become such a problem as it has in the past. If the patient has a feeding tube, it will be important to discuss with our office appropriate guidelines with respect to administering anything to the patient before the appointment. The current guidelines recommend the following; Eating- no solid food, semi-solid food or any type of dairy product should not be consumed less than six (6) hours prior to an appointment Drinking- clear liquids (water, juice, pedialyte, Gatorade, soda) can be consumed up to two (2) hours prior to the appointment Examples- If you have an appointment at 11:00 AM- food would have to be consumed before 5:00 AM and fluids could continue until 9:00 AM. Now, it may be impractical to eat before 5:00 AM, but it would be fine to drink as much clear liquids up to 9:00 AM If you have an appointment at 2:00 PM- food would have to be consumed before 8:00 AM and clear fluids could continue until Noon. So, it would be fine to have breakfast before 8:00 AM and drink clear liquids until Noon." If I had known this I would have at least given my son a cup of juice or water prior to leaving, he's literally feeling sick with hunger and thirst at this point begging me for anything, terrible!If recommended for surgery I highly suggest looking into other options in the area. This place is garbage. *update they ended up telling me to leave when I told the dr to hurry up and get on with the surgery after the ridiculous wait. Worst Dentist I've ever been to. She got a referral for CAPS to be put on. My daughters appointment was set for 6:45 we get there I fill out paperwork. She is checked by a doctor to make sure she is healthy because the anesthesia. The doctor goes on and says if she needs teeth took out we well do that as well. NO I feel like if anything extra needs to be done I need to know in advance so we can have a choice. & at this point I'm confused because if she NEEDED teeth took out she would of had a referral for that as well. What she NEEDED was caps and that's all. I feel like they were trying to do unnecessary procedures. They didn't even take an X-ray. I want her teeth to be healthy so we stay an hour passes by we were called and I'm on the phone at that time. The lady says he will be asking questions so you'll need to get off your phone so I got off. We go back he doesn't ask me no questions btw. I look at my Apple Watch for the time because it's been a while then after I take my phone out and put it on silent as any regular person would. Soon as the doctor who was a rude man seen my phone he says you need to put your phone up I said I put my phone on silent. What's the problem after he said you checked your messages on your watch to. Our third appointment with this place was yesterday and I'd like to leave a Yelp review that might offer a contrary opinion to the majority of these reviews. The wait time for morning appointments is negligible, so I won't be getting onto that tangent. Try to be a little more understanding that these people are doing their best work, and you'd want them to spend the extra time on the work if it was YOUR child. Kim the tech is great with kids, great with parents, and we love her!! She deserves major props because I could not do what she does. Dealing with nervous kids and demanding parents all day must be tough but she does it with a smile and I always feel better knowing she's on our case. Dr Patel the anesthesiologist is someone that I literally trust with my child's life. I fee so much better knowing he will be with her from the second she leaves my arms to the minute she rolls off to Recovery and back to Kim. Very carefully explains what is going to happen and what to expect, and will answer any questions that I have no matter how ridiculous. The dentist was very clear about the condition of my daughter's teeth, and was able to help us plan better for the future. We only spent a few minutes with her as she explained how the procedure went and she was very warm and human. Overall, I appreciate this place for everything they do to make a stressful experience more comfortable. Their expediency whenever possible makes a huge difference ! Often times the medical and dental services and techs who treat medi-cal patients treat us like lower beings just because we are impoverished, but I have never been treated poorly here and would recommend to anyone looking to have their children's teeth fixed in one visit!! read more

I'll give this place some credit that i feel it deserves. Foremost, yes, the wait is very long. My son went in for his procedure at 9:15 and our appt was scheduled at 7:30. The nurses were nice as were the doctors. When i called to schedule the initial appt, the girl on the phone was nice. The one at the front desk in the office, not so much. Not mean or rude but just no smile or warm greeting. I was a nervous wreck coming in and had she been welcoming when we came in, it would've helped to put me more at ease. They have movies on for the kids so that's nice. Worst experience I've had with my son his whole life! But you do what you gotta for the sake of your loved ones. I have been here once before a few years ago and although the front office staff was horrible the dentist did a good job with my son a few years ago. This time around they refused to schedule me at a time that was convenient for me (I needed an afternoon appointment) they could only do 11:30AM so I had to take time off work. They told me my son couldn't have anything to eat but they didn't say anything about him drinking water. They see him drinking and didn't say anything to me, they give me a bunch of paperwork to fill out and only when I'm completely done do they tell me they have to reschedule my appointment because my son was drinking water. I wouldn't have given him the water if they had informed me he couldn't have it. They need to train their staff better so that they are ALL on the same page when providing clients with information so that they don't waste people's time. I won't be back. Really just a normal dental surgery center. The wait is long, lobby is cold so bring a throw blanket, book and phone charger. I was scheduled at 11 and my child was treated until 3:20pm. Then she was out by 4:50pm. I had seen 7 patients going in and out and mine was the last one of the day. The lobby was clean and painted very nicely in Disney theme, i was very stressed because my child was scared but these are normal things. This is my second experience here and I have to say I am much happier and satisfied with my 2nd experience! About 3 years ago I brought my daughter and it was over crowded. We were from morning until 5 I believe. We waited for hours before even being called back. My daughter wasn't comfortable with the anesthesiologist. Well this time we waited about an hour. The waiting room wasn't crowded. We watched Disney movies on their TV which was a nice distraction. Every person I spoke with was friendly and warm, (except the receptionist) they explained everything very thoroughly and multiple times. The actual surgery seemed super fast (45 min maybe?) my only complaint would be the first person who was at the reception desk was not friendly and the waiting room needs some tlc. read more

Completely disgusting and unprofessional! First and foremost, they misdiagnosed and scheduled my 4 year old for unnecessary surgery! They claimed my child needed 2 root canals and 8 cavities filled, when he only needed to have a single tooth pulled. Additionally, They overbook their appointments, leaving no parking, waiting room at maximum capacity, took 3 hours for simple pre-surgery exam. A couple days before surgery, I notified them that my child was ill, and rescheduled 2 weeks out. I had to do this twice and both times notified them more than 2 days before scheduled surgery. Now they refuse to see my child saying that I cancelled too many appointments. There are not many options for children's dental surgery in this area, Salida Surgery knows this and they don't give a @&)#! My advice, drive to Atwater for your child's dental needs. read more

Wow!! I'm in shock with this place! Came in at 10:40am for my sons 11am appointment. Signed some forms and waited....... and waited..... and waited..... finally around 1:30pm I had enough of the waiting. In the almost 3 hours I was there, the only thing they did was take his vitals. THAT WAS ALL! Having a child fast for over 12 hours is just ridiculous! I told them I was leaving not coming back. Now if my child was next up, perhaps I might had stayed and waited just a bit longer, but there was still 2 parents that brought their kid in before us! I asked them how long they had been waiting and they said just over 3 hours already! That did it for me, not going to have my kid fast over 16 hours for a 1 hour procedure. If you still decide to take your child here take a pillow, a blanket and make sure to not make any plans for the whole day! read more

I had to take a moment to write a positive review because when my 4 year old daughter was referred here the first thing I did was go to the reviews and to be honest I was second guessing this place based off of the reviews. Let me tell you this place is amazing!! I had nothing but a great experience from the moment we walked in the door. Everyone makes sure you know what is going on step by step with your child before, during, and after the procedure weather it be the front office, the nurses, or the anesthesiologist. My daughter is very sensitive and was crying hysterically when the anesthesiologist was explaining her process and doing an exam on my daughter before administering any drugs. She was beyond patient with my daughter even while she was screaming. I can not thank Salida Surgery Center enough for the experience we had here. I wish for my daughter to never need dental surgery again but if she does I would definitely take her back here. read more

After reading the reviews, I was worried. Not great reviews, centering around wait time and attitude of employees. I didn't have a bad experience with either one of of those. It was my 6 year olds first time getting any surgery or anesthesia. So I made sure to read everything and ask any question I had. The paperwork you sign does state that you could be here from 3-6 hours so I was prepared to wait. We had to drive about 2 hrs to get here so we got here exactly at our appointment time, 9:30. By 10, we went back to get her vitals. They gave her a shot to make her drowsy before xrays and they instructed me to take her shoes off and go back to the waiting room. About 15 mins later the nurse called me back and we went over the procedure. They recommended 2 baby teeth in the front that were already loose to be pulled in case of any choking due to anesthesia. I asked if we could not pull them and let them fall out on their own. They said that was fine and did not pressure me to pull them. I felt very informed and comfortable with everyone. The ladies at the front are also very nice. I forgot we needed to wait in the car to get our temperatures taken and she was very nice about it and told me it was not a problem. By 10:50 the dr came out and told me every went very well and we are just waiting for my daughter to wake up from the anesthesia. Overall I would highly recommend this surgery center. read more
