After collecting $250 for the service call, we were told he had other calls to go on and could not stay for a half hour 45 minutes to see if the fire place would stay lit after he secured the glass to some latches, saying maybe it was because of a air leak. When we called to let him know the fireplace still was not staying lit. He said it was probably the valve. Never bothered coming back to investigate further. Just said they no longer make Lenox Valves. The problem was the fireplace sensors connections just needed a good cleaning. Definitely a money grab business looking to sell a new fireplace for the tune of $6,000.

A year or so ago we learned it was because the unit they sold us was WAY too large for the space, so the fires we were burning were not hot enough to keep the glass relatively free of soot. We called and told them, suggesting they might swap ours out for a similarly valued used one the correct size, but they didn't respond. A few months later our follow up email received the same silence. We ended up buying fire bricks to fill enough space in it to allow us to burn smaller, hotter fires without overheating the room. It helped, but we still have to do more glass cleaning than we should and ended up spending more money on the larger unit than we needed to. Note: I will update this review if and when they make an effort to help us out.

Let me start by saying: When I found out that I would need to replace the old, rotten hardwoods throughout half of my house, the task seemed insurmountable. Not only did I need to rip out those old floors, but there was seventy five year old mastic attached to the concrete prohibiting me from pouring the concrete I wanted onto my floors. I came to Walley Masonry for help, to see if there was anything we could do. Tyshawn, without batting an eye, said he could get it done. From a personal standpoint, Tyshawn is an upstanding individual. He respected me and my wishes for the project, and treated the project as if it was his own home he was working on. Not only that, but as all things are in construction, there were several hurdles in our way when removing the mastic, as it was extremely stubborn. Even with remedy after remedy not working, Tyshawn never gave up on making sure the job was done correctly. From a business perspective, Tyshawn is hardworking, committed, and dedicated to the project he is working on. He put in long hours, working well into the night, to get the project done. Whether it be from staying late stripping the mastic off the concrete, pouring the concrete, or making sure to take the extra time to pay fine attention to the details that otherwise may have been missed, Tyshawn made sure that the job was not only done, but that it was done right. You will see in the photos the complete night and day difference between what I started with, and what Tyshawn helped me create. I appreciate him, and would fully support and endorse hiring him for whatever masonry needs you may have!

    MC Pools - Pool

After receiving quotes from a handful of businesses in the area, we decided to hire MC Pools to…read morebuild our inground pool. Before we signed a contract or put down a deposit, Carl was patient and more than willing to answer our many, many questions and walk us through the process and options. He did a drawing of what we thought we wanted and when we wanted to make a few changes he quickly did it with no problem. Carl is very knowledgeable about not only what works best but also what looks best. We put a lot of trust in him as this is our first project of this kind and we're so glad we did. We never felt rushed or pressured or that we were being an inconvenience with our questions or changes. He is also very responsive, he never left us hanging, waiting for a response when we contacted him. One of the great things about MC Pools over other builders we contacted is that they have the ability to build the pool you want so you're not forced to pick something from a catalog. You can create a custom build like we did. Another positive, in my book, is that Carl includes (pretty much) everything in the quote, giving you the full picture of what the final cost will be. Other companies give quotes but don't add the other necessary items/services such as electrical, hauling away fill, etc so you think you're paying less but end up getting hit with costs you hadn't known about until later on. Carl adds all that in up front. Plus he included some things that other companies don't such as 2 lights for the pool, 2 skimmers, a safety cover and an upgraded handrail. *One huge bonus for us was the discount they offer for first responders (my husband is a volunteer firefighter).* The build itself was smooth and followed the timeline we were promised. When Carl came for his final walk-through to make sure we were happy I could not come up with a single thing I wasn't thrilled with (that's never happened to me before ). Every detail is perfect and our pool is gorgeous, we couldn't be happier. Details about the pool: it is 16 x 37 (with the bump outs). We added a bench seat to the bump out in the deep end (see picture) and we are SO glad we did, everyone loves it. It's a place to hang out while in the deep end and such a great feature. The kids especially love it because they can swim across and have somewhere to "land". It also doubles as a step to get out of the pool. We wanted a larger shallow end since we know that's where a lot of people hang out so we adopted for an extended shallow end (16 1/2 feet). The chlorine is salt water and we chose to have a cartridge filter and added a gas heater. The coping and concrete are stamped and dyed. Another detail worth mentioning, the contractors that MC Pools works with are top notch. The concrete company, Capital Concrete of Albany, went above and beyond to give us exactly what we wanted and helped us design and choose options when we asked for input without being pushy. They worked through the weekend to help get our project finished as soon as possible. The electrical company was also top notch. (I can't recall the name but I'll add it when I figure it out). We are SO glad we chose MC Pools for this large project, we couldn't be happier! Thank you, Carl!

They took an ugly set of pre cast steps and turned it into a work of art. The poured steps with the polyurea/ flake finish is amazing. I wish that I could post before and after pictures... Working with concrete requires flexibility in scheduling due to weather ,etc.. Any time that Zach was not going to working on the project, he called or texted me to let me know what was going on. ( His wife even called me once to tell me he was running late ! Who does that?!!) He worked tirelessly to complete the project and would not stop until I was COMPLETELY satisfied. We hired this contractor to install a concrete patio to address a drainage issue near our foundation. Despite raising concerns throughout the project, the finished patio was graded toward our house and directed water directly at the foundation, the exact problem it was supposed to solve. I also had concerns about the workmanship, including stone being placed directly on grass and retaining wall rocks during site preparation. Additionally, the patio was tied into our block foundation with rebar. While we were aware this was being done, we later learned from independent contractors that this is not recommended in our climate due to freeze-thaw conditions. After years of hiring contractors for home improvement projects, this has been by far our worst experience. The patio had to be removed shortly after installation, resulting in significant additional expense and the need to hire a new contractor to redo the work correctly. I would encourage future customers to carefully document everything and independently verify grading, drainage, and construction methods before work begins.
