Was surprised to see such a average low rating for this location--but it looks like the majority of the negative reviews are 5+ years old and overly hung up on customer service due to the older customer base which is a pity. Been going here since a young kid with my mother, over a decade. I always recommend researching products as the employees are not necessarily trained cosmetologists, but I feel like by 2025 they have VERY reasonable prices, usually beating walmart and target depending on the product--maybe not in comparison to salon depots but if you don't have a license, they carry toners and other products not readily accessible to the public consumer. They have helped me to find a replacement vol developer that would be compatible since they don't carry Redken (my only main complaint lol) and have been pretty nice and helpful throughout several years of colored dying, and bleaching. I love this Sally's the women who work here are very knowledgable of the products and can even help you pick out your hair dye or walk you throw how to process it. They made an overwhelmingly new task easy and simply and I have to say I looked and felt amazing after! I come here at least 2-3 times a month and love the brands they have as the quality is great and a great price! They often have deals so it keeps you coming back for more and keeps customer happy! If you need any hair care or body lotions or anything nail or body/hair related then you should definitely shop here and it is totally worth it to get the membership for the year! I went into buy some professional grade hair dye and the women who withers there were helpful and walked me through step by step how to color my hair. Horrible customer service. Came in today with my mom to purchase some hair stuff. No one came over to help us, we got a half assed hello, and were completely forgotten. We went up to the check out and were joking around with one another, the girl up front barely looked at us. Her tagged said she was an assistant manager, that's just laughable, she finally looked at us "are you ready?". Ummm yes that's why our product is in front of you and we are standing here. She was clearly unhappy to be helping us and clearly unhappy to be working there. As someone who has been in retail management, maybe this job isn't for her. Customers with no proper background of hair products are more likely to spend $$$ and selling over priced product, then to save and get an option to discount without getting a credit card. The location moved closer to Toys R Us. The new location is okay and so are the employees. When I went on Monday (1/16/17), I was created, but the employees have no passion. Like you know they don't want to be at work and suck at faking it. They greeted everyone, but offered no help to the customers. An elder lady walked in asking got something and one of the girls said "We don't have that". Instead of offering an alternative or saying when the product would become available, she just left the elderly lady in silence. These girls just didn't make great first impressions. I bought 2 shampoos and 2 conditioners yesterday. The sale is buy 1 get 1 for 50% off on the liter size. Today I take the 2 conditioners back since I found I already have 2 in the back of the closet I forgot about. She refunds me the 50% price on both the shampoo and conditioner so I am still charged for both the shampoos at full price I tell her it is incorrect to only refund me the 50% off items and point out the sale, She says that is how the register does it and there is nothing she can do about it. If it's buy 1 and get 1 for 50% off then why am I charged for 2 of the same products at full price? I have to make another trip to bring back my 2 shampoos, get another refund and repurchase the same 2 shampoos. Ridiculous. Wow what great customer service they have here. Fist let me start by telling you I came here looking for white hair gel for a Halloween costume. I went to the new Ulta in the same shopping center first , what a mistake. The girls working at ULTA had there cell phones shoved so far up there butts that they couldn't walk straight. I asked one for hair gel and she pointed if we have any its over there. How about walking your fat ass over and showing me. Well after 10 min of looking ,8 people working I mean standing around talking to each other, no one came to assist I left. Well I was greeted with a pleasant smile and was quickly asked if I needed help finding anything at Sallys. I told her what I was looking for and she suggested a color spray. Well they had a deal buy 2 get 1 free but only had 2 the color I needed. She said just grab another color and come back in a week to exchange it no questions asked. Made an order in store for in store pick up because the online price was cheaper than the in store price. I was really not happy that the attendant (who had no one else to attend to) did not start my order right away - said she would have to wait for the order to come in- about 30 min she said. On top of that, after I came back in 1.5 hr, she said that my order had been cancelled as they didn't have what I wanted in store... no one even contacted me of this despite me getting text messages that they had received my online order!! why wouldn't the online store know that the Escondido store didn't have the item in stock as it had already discluded the Oceanside store as they said the product was not available?? And, on top of that, why wouldn't they just keep the order and let me know when the item came in instead of just plain cancelling it?? So, instead of getting what I wanted to get and try out for the first time, I was quite upset and frustrated. I decided that I wouldn't even bother purchasing the item from Sally's. Thus, due to poor online manamgent as well as communication, I as a relatively new customer will probably not be a future customer of Sally's. read more

The employees in this store are so rude. You can't open anything to see if it's the right thing you're trying to buy. According to them you have to buy it and then bring it back and exchange it if you don't like it. They don't have any testers so that you can see what anything looks like. But the thing that got me the most is they are the rudest people I've ever dealt with. I walked out and went over to Supercuts to buy the product. I will not go there again. It was easier to have street credibility going to Sally's when I use to have a lush Afro. Gone are those days but I go to this Sally's because the have what I need for a close razorless shave. Now at this location everyone is friendly and knowledgeable so I have no issues. They carry what I need, but it comes at a premium. In parts of town that have a higher African American population I can get what I need from a target or a Walmart for half the cost. When they finally figure out what I am talking about, they don't walk their lazy asses the 10 feet down an aisle to show me. They point and tell me "it's over there by the hair color. It took me several minutes to find their 5 inch display of filler among dozens of color boxes. Please get some people who are actually interested in your store. This beauty supply shop lacks quality products and the prices are still pretty steep. Salons have a better selection of hair products, but I can't complain about the variety of beauty supplies that Sally's has. The shop has every little product for grooming imaginable. I would recommend getting appliances here because the shop has high quality brands and it is way cheaper to buy them here, rather than getting one at a salon, but I'm disappointed Sally's doesn't carry Pureology -- my favorite shampoo and conditioner -- because that stuff is hard to come by. Also, some simple products here, like nail polish remover are not cheap. For items like those I go to Save-on or (shudder) Wal-mart. read more

She asked to see an Id to ensure I was a professional because it shows that on my account. I have never been asked that at a Sally's because it is not exclusive to professionals. I forgot my ID but luckily had my passport. I then produced a $100 which they said they didn't have change for although I don't believe they don't close till 9 and it's now 6:25 but it was about 6:00 when I was purchasing. How do you not have change 3 Hours prior to closing? They were extremely snippy and clearly gossiping. If I had my salon centric card on me I would've avoided this altogether. This place can't get any better! They have special deals from time to time that can give you pretty amazing free stuff. I renewed my Sally's discount card during the month of my birthday and I got a free full sized Ion brand shampoo. The girls here are very helpful and know a lot about the products they sell. This is a great place to get great indoor tanning lotions that work just as good as the expensive stuff they try and sell you at the salon. The sally's card is totally worth it. Yes you have to pay $5 for it, but you instantly get a $5 coupon when you sign up. read more

Both attendants were sitting down at each register and when several customers asked for a specific item, they would simply point to it as opposed to getting up and walking over to help them find it. The specific item that I came in to purchase was not available, when I asked if she could check if it was available at a nearby location, she said that I could call and find out. She did not offer to call, or to write down the style number. Both employees that were there at the time were having a conversation the whole time and seemed to be bothered when customers asked for help. This is only a few miles away from me but i would prefer to drive 20+ minutes to a different location. BAD customer service, employees did the bare minimum to ring up customers. Omg! Please no one ever waste your time at this store. I've been here for over an hour. It was a simple exchange and the girl here literally stayed on the phone with her manager for 35 minutes after 20 minutes of being on the phone with customer service to simply take their useless straightener back and give me a gift card. It took her a total of 70 minutes to do this simple transaction then gives me a gift card without a receipt attached to it. I ask her for a receipt. I have been other times and always to get something as nail polish or wax, as I know what I want and just want to use either their coupons, discounts, etc. As others have mentioned, do not try to get some advice about hair coloring, for example, as looks like the ladies working there are not cosmetologists and you can get more confused. I just visited the Sally Beauty in Escondido, CA and was very disappointed. On my previous visit I was given a half-sheet flyer listing the upcoming daily specials in February. I noted on the 10th there would be China Glaze nail polish on sale for $3.99. It said NOTHING on the flyer about needing a coupon or bringing in the flyer to get it at this price. So I went in to buy 4 bottles of polish and some other assorted items. Since there were no signs near the nail polish showing that it was $3.99 today, I asked the sales woman if the polish was $3.99 today. She said yes - when I went to check out the nail polish rang up for $5.99. The sales clerk went to the back to ask the manager about it - the manager told her I needed to bring a coupon along or show an email on the cell phone. I asked to speak to the manager, Alex, who was very rude to me and insisted that I needed to bring the half sheet flyer or produce another coupon to get this discount. There were lots of extra flyers laying on their counter - and I showed her that it did not say ANYTHING about needing to bring the coupon to get the special each day. If Sally Beauty Supply's policy is that a piece of paper is needed to get their current daily specials, that needs to be CLEARLY stated on the flyers you hand out in the store. Otherwise, it is an attempt to bait and switch customers to get them back in the store and then not give them a discount. The manager of this Escondido store was very rude. I will not be shopping at Sally Beauty Supply any more and advise against it to anyone who mentions your store due to the terrible customer policies!!! read more
