I've been shopping at this business for about ten years. Connie is an awesome person, carries the beauty supplies I prefer, and goes out of her way to be helpful. I've never seen her take a day off. Her shop was likely hit hard thru the economic downturn, and the covid lockdowns. I can't imagine what losses she takes each month with theft. As for the cheap shots at Connie's age, that's bigotry. (WESTFIELD MALL EXPERIENCE) The owner will follow you like you are stealing something. I came in because this is a new store I've never been to at the mall. I was excited to see my favorite hair products be sold in person (Amika, Enjoy, etc.). The owner (older Asian lady) had asked me 3 times if I needed help, I simply declined because I was just browsing to see the options they had. The 4th time she asked me, I can tell she was already irritated that I haven't bought anything. I was doing research on my phone comparing products pricing & reading the ingredients. She made me feel very uncomfortable, unwelcoming from the start. She has no foundation of Trust on her customers. I will gladly show you my purse and my shopping bag, I have nothing to hide because I didn't do anything wrong. However, the way you make your customers feel. You stare them down as if they are guilty. If you're reading this, beware. If she asks you more than once "do you need help?" It means "buy our stuff and get out". She is impatient and thinks the worst for her customers. That's not how you bring new customers in... Mind you, I was only in the store for 5 minutes. Had she gave me space and time, I would have bought 4 Amika products from her. But because of her rudeness and discrimination, I walked out. First time here today, blown away by the collection of products and knowledgable staff. I use a range of products including 6 conditioners and 1 shampoo. I expect to spend close to 300 dollars every four weeks to maintain my natural curly hair. This store offers every brand I use. Connie, the woman who assisted me was kind enough to suggest additional products that could be used in addition to my arsenal. Brands I use: Mixed Chicks, Enjoy, Moroccan Oil, Mastey, It's a 10. I came here to buy Jane Iredale makeup. I really wanted to be swatched for the right color and this place was the closest I could find. I came into the store and the stuff was in such disarray and the tester makeup didn't seem to be clean. The owner (an Asian lady) pulled a few palettes for me to try and I asked for sponges instead of the dirty brushes she had. Anyways... I loved the makeup and bought what I needed. I did like the makeup on me. It took her a while to pack my stuff and gave me some freebies, which was great. She mentioned that she didn't have any compacts so she cleaned one of her tester compacts and took out the refill from the compact and I was very thankful - she cleaned it up real nice too. So I left the store and upon inspecting my receipt... She charged me for a USED compact. I thought that would be a free item since it came from one of the testers in the store. I've been coming here for 10 years now. I LOVE their new location! It is easy to get to with plenty of parking. Connie is always super helpful and doesn't push you to buy all kinds of outrageous things. She does give you recommendations on products and samples to try at checkout, but never too pushy. When I do end up purchasing one of her recommendations, she says bring it back if you dont like it but I never do because it does the trick! I haven't seen other staff when I come in since the relocation, so I cant review on that. Oh lastly, the punch cards are awesome! They do not expire and you can save them all to use in one transaction. Great time to use them is for Christmas stocking stuffers or gift exchange. read more

COMPLETELY MORTIFIED!!!! There is such a thing as "bad customer service", and then there is "gut-wrenchingly horrific customer service". I know this because I work in customer service and am expected to uphold the absolute highest standards of service, day in and day out. I don't expect that everyone in the business of serving customers need adhere to my work standard or ethic. I do hope to be greeted warmly and treated with respect and kindness. At the very least, I expect to be treated like a human being. My visit to Jade Beauty today made me lose a little bit of my faith in humanity..... I left work, happy to have a bit of free time to spend on myself while my mom took my son to the park. I have always wanted to try Jane Iredell makeup. I was excited to take some time carefully choosing my perfect colors without having to drive all the way to a mall. Or, worse yet, randomly order online and "hope it works". I entered the store. No "hello". No "how can I help you". No one was there....except the Jane Iredalle sales rep who was stocking products. I was not offended. I like to be left alone to browse and carefully choose before I buy. Especially with makeup. So, I began looking at the makeup and comparing colors against my skin tone. No more than 2 minutes went by before both the sales rep and the Old Asian lady (Connie?) asked me what I wanted/needed/and what I was looking for. I politely told both of these women numerous times that I was looking and I didn't need any assistance. It took me all of 15 minutes to choose what I wanted. In that 15 minutes, they watched me and kept asking me what I wanted or if I wanted help. It was uncomfortable and, quite frankly, strange. I overheard her with a couple other shoppers too. She was just as presumptuous and pushy. As soon as I was about to pick out my items, the Old Asian Lady (Connie?) told me, very loudly, in front of a store full of customers...."try for customer only, you not buying!" I almost couldn't speak because I was so taken aback by her comment.... I left the store. Mortified and heartbroken. I have been called a lot of things in my lifetime....But, I have never, ever, in all of my years, been labeled a "thief" or "loiterer"..... I rarely write reviews but my experience in this store stood out so much that I was inspired to do it! Connie, the owner of Jade beauty, is always there and she has 20 years experience helping people get the right product. I have always been blown away by her knowledge and attentiveness while I'm in the store. She let me try on make up (in a hygienic way), asked me a ton of questions to be sure that I got products that I love and work for me. She could even could tell me a ton about the men's lines so that I could find the right products for my middle school-aged son. They had certain items I haven't been able to find anywhere, which was great! (It's amazing how much is in that store.). I don't love the big named stores with their lax levels of customer service - often the people in those shops have no idea what they are selling. Worst customer service experience here. I came in today to see if I could return or exchange a BRAND NEW item I just bought a few days ago since I found a better product (for cheaper) online. The lady said I couldn't return it even though it has been less than a week and so I asked her what can she do since I don't need or want the product. She asked for my receipt I showed it to her but she said no can't do anything for me. Previously when I was here the first few visits whenever I asked her questions about products or needed help she was very dismissive and couldn't care less. She answers phone calls or makes phone calls right in front of you--even while you're waiting to be checked out at the register. Today was the last straw for me. I'm a very busy mom so finding my time to do something for myself is hard. I had be researching new more natural foundation and was interested in Jane Iredale, however I didn't know where to purchase it. I Finally found Jade Beauty Center. They carry some really nice products like bare minerals, Jane Iredale and dermalogica, which can sometimes be hard to find and a plus is I can just drive up to the store and not a mall! I decided to run in and try the product out. Connie, immediately offered to try the product on my face. Other places have just put a little on my forearm and expect me to make a decision. I thought another color might be better, but Connie said I wouldn't be happy with it. Instead of me leaving and wondering if I made a good decision, Connie cleaned half of my face and applied the other color, which Connie was right, I didn't like it. Connie recommend another product for my skin and told me how to apply the product. My skin is really bad right now, but instead of making me feel bad, she said she can tell my skin is irritated but once it settles down, my skin is still nice. She was quick, thorough and I was out the door! She gave me some samples and offered to call me when another product came in. I never leave reviews, good or bad, but today I feel compelled to telling my happy story... and why not, it's a new year, and if you're not going to say anything nice, shouldn't say anything at all. BUT since it's a positive story, here I go.. I've been going to Jade for Jane Iredale makeup for many, many years. It's the only store in SD that carries Jane Iredale! I've always had good service, regardless of who was working that day. Well the other day, Connie was managing the whole store, and still made every effort to help me pick out the best hair piece for my wedding. She never once made me feel rushed, answered all my indecisive questions, and had very professional stylish opinions for all the looks I was unsure about. She even had references to other stylists that could help me on my big day. She also helped me pick a great eyeliner, and gave me awesome samples of different products, which I'm very excited about. BUYER BEWARE! Went in to purchase a brow gel (one that I'm familiar with) and noticed they did not have it in my color. When I inquired about when they might have it in again, the nicest employee went to ask the owner, who immediately grabbed the tester in my color and disappeared into the back office for 10 minutes. When she came out, she had a "new" one in her hand and apologized for no original box. The next day I went to use it and found that it was half empty and dried out! All of a sudden it made full sense to me....while I waited, thinking she was looking for more product in the back, she was actually CLEANING UP THE TESTER AND THEN SOLD IT TO ME AS NEW! I had to fight hard to get her to refund my money, as I refused a credit (I will NEVER, EVER, ENTER THAT STORE AGAIN). If you're reading these reviews while contemplating whether or not to visit this beauty supply store, DON'T. All these negative reviews accurately describe the customer service you receive here. (Specifically, with the owner). I've always noticed this beauty supply store while shopping in Carmel Mountain but I recently needed to visit a Sally's to get some hair products. In a rush, I accidentally visited Jade's (Literally a few stores away from each other in the same plaza) and bought a couple things that a nice sales associate told me would work for my hair color. All the girls here were extremely nice and I knew they wanted to help, but they really don't have the expertise of a professional staff. It's totally fine, but I did buy the wrong product due to a wrong recommendation. I came home and glanced over the receipt and was glad it said Returns in 7 days, Exchanges in 14. I came back the next day, found the right product, and attempted to exchange at the register. The Asian owner immediately barked "No exchanges" before I even finished explaining my situation. I tried pointing out the receipt but she told me that below the return policy, the bottom of the receipt, in small words, will say that you can't return hair, cosmetics, nail polish, etc etc, products. (What else can you even freaking sell at a beauty store that doesn't fall under one of those categories???) She continued to give me the rudest attitude and at that point, it just wasn't even worth it to argue, knowing she wouldn't budge. I had to spend extra buying the right product for my hair and now I'm stuck with another product I won't even use. For the employees - you all are all the sweetest girls. Consider leaving this management as you all deserve better! I actually feel so bad for Jade's employees and hope these girls find a better job that will treat them with respect. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before coming into this place. Last night (12/5/12) I had to make a trip to Michaels, which is next door. I decided on my way out that I would stop in this place and browse around. Two steps in the door I am asked if I can be helped with anything, which I completely felt was appropriate and normal. But it got excessive, I completely felt like the clerk was following me around and watching me as if I was going to steal something. By the third time the clerk asked me if I needed a basket, I was VERY tempted to walk out, instead, I took my two items, a pumice stone and nail polish and booked it. A note to the management : Your clerks make your customers feel VERY uncomfortable, and therefore you will lose business because of this. Considering you have several complaints about this, don't you think it's time to change this up? I highley doubt I will be back for any future purchses. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars!! WORST store ever!! The place is dirty and unorganized. Most of the shelves are completely empty! I went here to buy some Jane Iredale makeup because only a few places in San Diego carry it. The girl who initially helped me was nice and assisted me in choosing what I thought would be the right colors and products. However, one of the products was the complete wrong color for me once I got it home and used it. She had tested it on me and said she was really familiar with these products and that this concealer was the correct shade. WRONG. The consistency and color of the product was completely different than the way she described it. I went back to the store and explained the situation and that I needed to exchange the concealer for a different shade or something. I wanted something from the same line for the same amount of money, just an even trade. I even offered to spend more money! The salesgirl made a mistake in her suggestion for me, not my fault. I told the lady that I was a first time customer and would definitely continue to be a customer because I loved the other Jane Iredale products I bought. She then informed that they don't accept returns on cosmetics! Even in my unique situation, no matter what I said she was so rude to me and said they don't accept returns. Nobody informed me of their ridiculous return policy when I bought $150 worth of cosmetics!!! The salesgirl should have told me it was a final sale. So in order to prevent anyone else from being duped here is everything they WON"T accept returns on: Cosmetics, brushes,, nail care products & tools, skin care products & tools, hair tint & accessories & perms, appliances, perfumes Sooooooooooo what else does a friggin beauty supply store sell???? I bought a bottle of cologne at this store and liked it. I went back a few months later and they had none in stock, so I ordered two more bottles and was told that I would be called within 7-10 days when the items came in. I was never called. I went in to this store on FIVE separate occasions over the last two months to inquire about my order and was personally told each time by the OWNER that she would have it for me in two to three days and that she would call me. She never called. I now give them one star because in my opinion, if you tell a customer you are going to do something, you do it. When that customer gives you FIVE chances and you blow it FIVE TIMES IN A ROW then you deserve this rating. I try to support local businesses even if I do have to spend slightly more, but some brick-and-mortar stores are losing their shirts to the dot coms because their level of customer service is such an outright joke! This is clearly the case here (sans laughter). Addendum: A few days after this review was posted, I did finally get a voice mail from the owner telling me that the product that I ordered was 'soon-to-be discontinued' and she said to 'let her know if I still wanted any'. LOL wow. Reading everyone's review, I guess I should feel lucky I didn't have to experience the same kind of stalking service. I wasn't followed around, the girl who greeted me asked me if I needed help and quickly took me to where the product was located. The conditioner/shampoo I needed was reasonably priced - I usually pay 50 a bottle and at jade it was 32&31 = sweet ! I did notice the owner though ... I had asked the associate a question and felt bad for her when she asked the owner who was not pleasant and spoke to her like she was something unfortunate that got tracked on her shoe. The girls are helpful to their best ability* however the owner has not grasp the concept of smiling. Customer service is not her forte and it's ever so evident in her awful attitude and smug appearance. I take pity on her actually, because I believe due to the many years of unchanged frowny expression, it is permanently affixed :( I will seek out another store that offers the product I need, however if I had to come back I still would. Worst customer service ever. The owner follows everyone around like they're criminals, you can't even shop without feeling her breathe down your neck. I asked if they carried barbicide, since I ran out at my studio and she turned around without saying a word and expected me to just follow her.... Okay I'll let that slide, maybe she doesn't speak English. She took me to the aisle and showed me where it would be, but they were out. She said "It's usually here, but we're out of stock." That's fine, I could wait, I like to support small businesses. So, I asked her what the approximate date would be for their next shipment and she stared at my like I was stupid. She said "How am I supposed to know, do I look psychic?" UMM EXCUSE ME?! No need for your attitude. I told her I just assumed she would have a guess since they have to order product to keep things in Stock (at this point I was really annoyed so I my tone was a bit sassy.) She replied, "No. I don't. You can shop somewhere else, I don't need your business." And you'll never get it! I went to this small beauty supply shop today to get some Pureology shampoo and conditioner. I purposefully decided to skip Ulta and give business to a smaller retailer. I had my 11 year old daughter with me. We walked in and went straight to the shampoo section to find the brand I needed. A woman, who I believed was the owner, asked if we needed assistance and I explained we were just getting shampoo and were fine and thanked her. As I was reading ingredients, my daughter moved down the shelf to look at some hair product and the lady (less than a minute later) came over and asked if we needed help again. I said thank you, no we are fine and just reading ingredients. Not even another minute went by and she was back and asked if we wanted a basket. I said sure. My daughter moved to the next aisle as I'm reading and at that point the woman grabs her wireless store phone and makes a speaker phone call to ask where "the gold ones are" (the man on the phone was even confused) - as she had this conversation she moved to a spot directly next to my 11 year old almost touching shoulders with her. At this point I felt pretty unwelcome. It was pouring rain, so my normal response would be to just leave. Instead I bought the conditioner that was in my hand without finishing the ingredient comparison and got out of the store as fast as I could. But, before we could even finish the transaction, and as I'm trying to pay, the lady scolded my daughter to stop putting lip gloss on her lips. The lady said she was putting the sample directly on her lips. I asked my daughter to drop anything she was touching and asked the woman if we could finish the purchase. After leaving, I asked my daughter if she was really putting a sampler directly on her lips. She said no and that she was looking for the qtips to put on a sample (the way I have always taught her). There were no swabs or tools to try the samples sanitarily - which simply affirmed my suspicions that this woman just wanted my 11 year old out of the store. I'm sure she felt justified in her actions and was scared of theft, but all she accomplished was very poor customer service and a customer feeling completely unwelcome. Ulta will get the business mainly because of the above, but also because their prices were not at all competitive. My shampoo and conditioner is cheaper to buy from my stylist! read more

Always very knowledgeable and attentive the owner goes out of her way to make sure you find what you're looking for. She provides honest feedback without being pushy. Besides that they have Jane Iredale consultant coming once a month who offers free 30 mins makeup sessions. read more

I am always excited to discover and purchase new hair products. When I am walking into Jade I'm in a good mood, but have found that my mood turns sour the second I step foot into the store. LIke most of the reviews here, it is not a good feeling that the associates are trained to stalk you the minute you enter the store. Since they have a wide selection of inventory, the pleasure of browsing the store at your own leisure is COMPLETELY taken away from you because an employee must "escort" you to what you are looking for. Even then, they don't leave you alone! They circle you like sharks every 30 seconds just to make sure you're not stealing. Absolutely ridiculous. Although I do purchase what I need to get, I always walk out of that store fuming. Time to look for an alternative. read more
