I would actually not tolerate these negative reviews for this establishment of course this is not a typical business you'd be leaving a review unless you go in with a bad mood and expect to fight with your local customer service workers, get the fight your looking for and leave a bad review. I was in today at 2:56 PM, I got home and realized I grabbed the shampoo instead of the conditioner. The lady asked if I needed my receipt but I told her no it's OK because again I thought I grabbed the conditioner. Well When I got home, I realized it was not the conditioner, so I drove back to Sally's at 6pm without the receipt in hand, and the lady said that she could not do anything for me. No exchange, no credit, no cash. I said, "all I needed was to exchange it for the conditioner", and she continued and refused for five minutes. She was so rude. Finally, I asked her to call the manager which I had to ask five times. She said she called but no answer. I asked her to call again and then she got on the phone with the manager, the manager approved it within seconds. Online states that Sally beauty supply company will exchange without a receipt. The staff is extremely rude and would not do an even exchange for me, even though it was under the 60-day policy. The Northridge location offered to do it without an issue. I have escalated the matter to corporate. The Simi Valley location would not accommodate me for $8. Very upsetting since I've been a loyal member for a very long time. When I went into this store today, I was not greeted by the store manager whatsoever!! She did not have a friendly demeanor and was on her phone the whole time. I was seeking assistance regarding products and she was unable to help me and had to ask her associates for help which is so unprofessional. In the years that I have been shopping at this store, I have never had such horrible customer service. The rest of the workers in the store were super helpful and quick to greet me, so it's a bummer that the store manager could not reach the same standards. Im new to Simi Valley and I went to Sally's to purchase hair color. The young lady who greeted me easy kind and professional. She has red hair , sorry I didn't know her name. Anyway I was looking around and I was on the last aisle when a lady came around the corner so fast, if I wasn't looking up she could had slammed into me. I said good morning, she didn't say a word just continued storming to the register. When I went to go pay both ladies we're at the register. I asked my lady, who is that ? She said she's the manager. I replied that the manager is rude... the young lady said she has a lot on her mind being a manager. I told her that I'm a manager for a urgent care and I have So much going on and there's No excuse for being rude !!! Especially being a manager!!!!! I would rather drive to the valley to West Hills where I know the staff / manager is welcoming and Polite!!!! Which I will in the future. Before I even left the store that manager and a customer were talking about me. I turned around and both of them with there eyes open wide said we're just talking about hair !!!! I left the store so there wouldn't be any alteration. Everything know a days is so expensive but when you go into a place of business one would or should be treated with respect. It's worth to me to use up gas driving to the valley to Sally then to go sally in my neighborhood and be treated Rudely!!!! It's 7:21pm and as I and my husband are approaching the store, the lady is leaving and locking the door. My husband asked are you closed and she simlply just said,"yea!" So I proceeded to ask her if the time on Yelp is wrong because it's says the business closes at 8:00pm. She completely ignored me and kept walking and a few seconds later as she still being dismissive she say, "well it's Monday and we close at 7pm". So I politely said , "Oh, ok! Came here this morning to buy a diffuser for my newly permed trashed hair! I am blonde and got a perm last Friday. Gloria was so sweet to recommend what I could do to bring my hair back to life. She told me what was done wrong, and why it's so damaged. I bought some special reconstructor and the diffuser. It's so nice to have a friendly knowledgeable person. I live in the valley, and there the girls do not know much. I will come here again and highly recommend this location. Plenty of parking and good selection of products. read more

This was honestly the worst customer service experience I have EVER had today! Not only was I made to feel like I was going to steal products, but I was actually insulted by the cashier when checking out. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and rarely even shop there because their employees are clueless. But I was in a hurry and needed to pick up hair color for a friend. I was in my workout clothes and clearly did not "appear" to know what I was doing. When I was getting ready to pay, the clerk tried to up sell to me, to which I nicely said no thank you. I was then asked if I needed any product to "cover my gray hair". I again declined nicely thinking to myself was this a joke. I was then rung up, my products left out of reach on the counter, my receipt dropped on top of them, while they picked up something and started a different task completely ignoring me. I wasn't offered a bag, or acknowledged when I said thank you. I grabbed my items and left. I am also an HR professional and if that was my employee, they would not last one day! It's so hard to write a positive, or a negative review for Sallys. So I will get a middle of the road review, as there a lot of things I love and hate about the Simi Sallys. It is always stocked, they have tons of hair dyes, shampoos, conditioners, treatments and even a small selection of makeup. They carry items I cannot find anywhere else in stores, some that work so well you would think it is magic. Ladies, if you want to go from medium brown hair to banana blonde; try 7th Stage Lightener with 3 packets and the serum with 30 peroxide. It is so gentle even with 30 Vol and can be left in for around 30 minutes on virgin hair with almost no damage. Was recommended this product back in 2014 and have been hooked ever since!! They have excellent, cheap, brushes, combs, applicators, and anything else you could need to treat your tresses. Really nothing to complain about with their selection, cleanliness, and location. Plenty of parking and easy to get to. Unfortunately, employees are hit or miss. While I have not made friends with any of the associates here, I typically get along well with most who work here. There are always new faces, and recently they have been very busy and understaffed. I had to wait 20 minutes to check out because there was only one girl working, and she was assisting a time consuming customer. The guy (manager?) in the back ignored the line and twittered around the store. I usually shop later at night (7-8pm) to avoid the crowds. It is very difficult to find someone willing to answer your questions and engaging in advice-related topics, which is sad because I like hearing tips from the ladies with bright-beautifully colored hair. If you don't have questions, this is a decent in and out location to get what you need. The Santa Barbara and San Luis Obisbo Locations have much more responsive and knowledgeable staff. Oh well, I am still a loyal Sally's shopper because of their awesome selection! read more

Such an ugly persona and she wasn't even helping me ..just inserting herself in conversation between myself and another employee! Went to this store on a Saturday morning and they weren't even open even though I arrived 30 minutes after they were supposed to be. I have been a customer of sallys beauty supply for many years and I could not believe the service I received today..I was returning an item that I bought less than a week ago and the girl that sold it to me was there . I'm guessing she was the manager . she would not give me a full refund when the item was defective. I was going to buy more stuff totaling more than fifty dollars and she would not give me a full refund which it was only $2 more dollars and when I told her that I was not going to come back because she knew exactly what I paid for. This is a good place if you know what you are looking for and can be patient with the lack of customer service. My daughter and I went in to by hair dye and supplies. While we looked for what we needed we were followed around by an associate as if we were "up to something." While looking at nail files I was rudely told that if I use it I need to purchase it. First off, the 1 star is for bad store policy and I hope it encourages them to improve. The employees were very nice and I have nothing against them. I came in with my youngest daughter because she wanted to color her hair lilac. Now, my experience with hair color is limited, I color my wife's hair, and I've colored my oldest daughters hair. Always box products like Loreal, never had any issues. But this was lilac, and I wanted some advice. I'm sure many, more experienced people, will tell you always test a small portion of hair before coloring. But me, I've only used the box products and never had any issue, so I did not have this experience. No, I did not ruin my daughter's hair, so good there. However, the Arctic Fox hair color my daughter wanted to purchase did nothing (well, slight lilac tinge you can sometimes see in the right light and if you are closely inspecting her hair). Used 3 bottles. Followed all directions for application. Hair was saturated with product. Store response. No refunds if it doesn't work. So, what's with the 1 star. I came to Sally's for advice and I discussed my experience with hair coloring. Unfortunately, they never warned me to test first. Well, you may think I should know better; but, my experience never prepared me for this. And, since I was there asking for help, it would be prudent on someone with more experience and more expertise, someone who sells these products and represents this market, to step up and provide good advice. Now; I feel that all they cared about was making a sale. I will not shop here ever again because I feel they cannot be trusted. Went in looking for some acrylic nails and hair dye. There were three girls working, but not one of them greeted me as I walked in. I needed help finding an item and when I asked for help, the girl I asked was not engaged in helping me at all. Got a box of hair dye and asked the same girl if I needed a certain type of developer and she shrugged and said she didn't know and walked away. I asked one of her coworkers the same question and she didn't know either, but she pulled out her phone to look it up and at least tried to help me. The third girl was sitting behind her register on her phone the whole time and didn't acknowledge me at all. This is a great place to buy supplies if you know exactly what you're looking for, but the staff don't know anything about half of the items they carry. One with blond hair is too busy staring at herself and acting as if you are boring her to pay attention to what you are asking her. The next one is too busy on the phone and complaining about having to work; but is a tad more helpful than the other. I will definitely never return to this store.
