Literally the most underwhelming sally beauty I've ever been to and I thought the Van Nuys plant location was bad. This place is just as tiny and completely empty. I walked in and they asked if I needed help I commented I needed hair clips and the manager directed me to the section a girl was stocking. My clips were not there and she asked me again what I was looking for. I said I was looking for metal clips the kind you use for finger waves. She was confused and she said "finger waves?" How can you work in a Sally's and not know what a finger wave is? She showed me some girly looking clips and I said no. She then asked "like Bobby pins?". I said no. "You know you use them to part hair when doing updos or when you're trying to make the "s" shape happennd she nodded and you could tell she was unsure. Walked me to another section and showed me big clips that came with 3. I said yes like that but in a box. And she's like... no we don't have them. Then she sees them on the bottom shelf "we have these but they are smaller" I say "yes this is what I needed thanks". Wow. I don't know how people work here not knowing basics. Then I stood at the cash register waiting because the manager was doing other stuff. He asked for my number had to type it in 3 times because he kept messing up. Painful! I came in to do some last minute holiday shopping and browse the aisles. It seemed like the older manager with long blondish hair was getting annoyed as I asked her for whereabouts in the store. She couldn't answer any basic questions about beauty supplies. Sadly she mislead me to believe that the dry shampoo only came in large sizes. I discovered different while I checked out the travel sizes. She seemed annoyed that I was browsing the nail polish colors and taking my time to spend $$ in the store. If they had ready made gifts, I would've just grabbed and go. First time here so was expecting to struggle to find the items I needed; lady welcomed me when I came in and asked if I needed help finding something specific and I said yes I do actually and showed the pictures I needed and she helped me find everything in less than 5 minutes! I went to Sally's to get some black dye and supplies for a trim. I'm pretty inexperienced and I previously had blonde highlights so I was a bit anxious. I got so much amazing advice from Yolanda on how to least damage my hair and a ton of super helpful tips. I followed all of her advice and my (already damaged) hair came out looking shiny and healthier than before! I went in so unsure and left feeling confident thanks to all of her help. A) Don't waste your time here with racist people who don't give a crap about what you want. B) Don't trust their recommendations. C) don't use Ion pastel semi-permanent hair color unless you want something splotchey that comes half way out with one wash. On to my two part review, first about service and second about product recommendation. I've gone in a few times, few and far between only to be reminded why. One lady has made two racist jokes at different times to me. Awkward and not okay. None of the employees there seem to care at all. Upon lady A's recommendation I walked out with Ion Lavender semi-permanent hair dye. After using this product with poor results (more on that later) I went back to show them and ask for manic panic to cover it up with. They also had no Effs to give. Not an "I'm sorry that didn't work for you." No "oh, did you try doing this, or how did you apply it maybe you did it wrong." Nothing at all. Just "Here's the manic panic colors. Which one do you want?" All while having a discussion amongst themselves. Thanks for the concern/help/care. Not! Now about Ion. I used 3/4 of the tube on a ponytail worth of my fine, shoulder length, lightened hair. It didn't even cover all of it. At all. I could still see blonde through the color that also came out much darker than advertised. But that was last night, right when I did it. I gave it a wash today to lighten it a little bit, and it is 50% gone, and not in a good way. I'm putting the summary at the top. I hope this saves you the trouble and thanks for the rant. read more

My rating is not for the products here. I always liked coming to this Sally Beauty Supply because of how nice their selection is. There is always an abundance of economic and luxury beauty goods. Cannot complain. The staff however, is a completely different story. When you enter there is no one at the register or around. They are usually always gathered at the back trash talking each other, the customer, or you. A lady came in to inquire about a return. She had dropped or spilled her product (liquid based hair product) into her purse and was asking if they could process a return. They let her know that that did not fall within their return policy and she went on her way. After this lady left, the female (black haired, Latina) employee went to the back to another employee and said "Nah we don't do that shit here. That's her fault, what does she want us to do." And then proceeded to say in Spanish "What do they think here in Granaaaada Hills they can do that kind of stuff because they think they're so rich and think highly of themselves". The funny part was when the lady saw me she yelled from the back if I needed anything. Girl I heard you I speak Spanish. I just had to walk out. I'd rather not be a customer in a place where they HATE doing their job and can't provide good customer service. Let alone get talked about. Not my Sally's anymore. Pretty fair store. In huge lot with other great stores. Today there is only one person working which there should always be two. One at the register and someone else helping the guests for their needs. My friend had to come in here to get color remover so she could wear her blonde hair naturally. The lady helped me with renewing my Sally's card and informed me I had til the end of the month to renew it which was great. My friend is a talker so she's needs assistance and will talk someone's ear out and that's why it was important for them to have a back up girl instead of referring to the person they once had was fired. At the end of the day, would I come here again... I would but I would already know what to get so I can get in and out as fast as I can. read more

Took my Mother there last night, for a walking time around town and she wanted to go to this location. It's clean, well organized, and priced very well. The customer service is very good. My only recommendation, is that the staff be a little more observant to what kind of thick-skinned humor they can banter with certain customers. It's all in good fun, but in a general setting we need to be careful with the older generation. For the younger generation, the Sales person that helped me last night, is a sharp thick skinned, and old school sarcastic employer that makes us laugh. read more

Although I was a little apprehensive after reading these reviews, I went here as this is the closest Sally's to me. I was pleasantly surprised with the O*P*I Nail GelShine starter kit I purchased, on sale for under $50, marked from over $100! Since then I've been in a couple times to exchange a nail gel color. Transaction went smoothly. They didn't give me any grief like sometimes happens with exchanges/returns. Saleslady was pleasant when I asked which of the nail polish were "gel". She took the time to show me which of each brand are gel and which are regular, as they are all displayed together on the wall. On another visit, I found the saleslady to be helpful when I asked for her opinion on their most effective cuticle remover. read more

Within 4 weeks I have bleached my hair 2 times, highlights 2 time in profesional salons and out of a box color 3 times. All this was to try to fix a bad hair job. Before going to Sallys my hair had green blond hues which I could not correct myself or at salons. At Sallys I was helped by Jose I told him exacetly what I have put my hair through, I told him that my hair catches reds very easely and I told him what I would like and asked him how to fix all that. I'm not an avid Sally Beauty Supply shopper. I think their stuff (fake lashes, nail polish, etc) is over priced. I just come here for their acetone nail polish remover which does a great job and leaves the nails feeling hydrated. Aside from that, I don't bother with their other items. The one thing I noticed is that this store is small, the service isn't that great. When I signed up for the Sally Card (rewards system), the cashier asked, "your name is ChristinA?" I responded, "no, it's ChristinE." Insisting, "but your name is really ChristinA?!" NO!!!!! Received the Sally card in the mail, you'll never guess the name they put!!!? Ugh! What to say about Sally? Well she's nice, really into hair and nails you know. She usually has the things I need okay let's be us honest, she has what I want. I have the Beauty discount card. You pay $5 for it and then they give you a $5 coupon for your next visit so it pays for itself if you remember to go back before it expires. It's worth it to me because I go at least 4-6 (minimum) times a year. This is a nice location, no complaints. read more

Overall this store is not any worse then all other Sally's locations but it has been more frustrating to remain a client to this store. We have been local, frequent shoppers at this location because we have salons in the same city. They recently changed their POS system and no longer accept business debit cards. It shows declined on their end and they don't want to take the time to research and clarify further about how they can help their loyal customers. They just say, "you need to call your bank", not understanding that the problem is on their end not our bank!!!!! The staff, the managers, even their corporate office staff (after several complaint calls placed to them) are clueless about what truly the problem is. Get someone to figure this out! You can't change an entire system without working out the kinks/problems that come up with the change. You are loosing many high spending business clients, I would think you would care, since they are bringing you most of your big ticket business. read more

I went tonight it was 5:50 and the store isn't supposed to close till 7 pm well a girl there her name was Stephanie said they "changed the hours" when I had called 5 min before to ask and tell them that I had to do a refund. Most of the Sally beauty supplies are very average with just fair products. Their inventory is comprised of mainly moderately priced ok quality products. If you need just basic things their fine, but for good quality shampoos,conditioners , and makeup I recommend a higher end beauty supply like Namies. The quality of customer service depends on which location you go to. Sometimes it is inconsistent with attentive sales people to lackluster attention. UPGRADE YOUR STAFF PLEASE- I've been coming here often because I just moved to Granada hills. It's clean but the staff isn't very knowledgeable. I've given this Sally location chance after chance & I don't know why I bother. Not friendly - hot & cold, heavy on the cold side. I've been there at least 15x over the past few years. (What can I say it's on my route home.) 2 Examples: I asked about a shade of pink & the clerk opened the nail polish tried it on her own nails & then proceeded to try to sell me that same bottle, it's used now. She didn't ask me before she started to open & use the product I was about to buy. Unprofessional & a tad rude. Today the clerks are talking about how this lady (who just walked out mind you) would always ask a lot of questions about products in her basket to distract the clerks w/questions while she steals things. And she would come back & forth acting like she's trying to decide. One girl says watch out for those people. So I leave b/c I was looking for a specific polish they didn't have. I realize I was being selfish (whoopsie!) so I walk back in to asked if they carry the conditioner my boyfriend uses. And one girl says to the other, "See, she just did it ...", meaning me. Like I'm the type of person who would steal from your store. I understand you can't always tell a thief by looking at a person. But when you can't be professional, discreet & appropriate you lose regular customers like me. These low class, rude clerks have seen the last of me. I just came back from the store extremely frustrated with the way I was treated. I'm not a mean customer type. I was simply asking one of the workers, CARLA, for some help about a color I was looking for because I was planning to dye my hair for the first time. She wouldn't let me speak and was extremely rude and tried making me feel stupid. CARLA gave me the shortest and quickest "answers" and went to another customer without trying to finish and help me. She literally said "I can't help you. You will have to figure it out" Who says that to people? CARLA should NOT be working there if she is treating customers like this. Don't believe the bad reviews. This is the best Sally's around. I've been coming here for years and have never had any issues. Emily and Simone (I think that's how you spell her name) are wonderful and patient! Soooo knowledgeable and will help you with any questions you have. I know Simone is a hair dresser on the side. So if you ask her questions about hair color or treatments, she will answer them without skipping a beat. She's amazing!! My sister was helped by Emily and she raves on and on and on about her.
