Had a terrible experience today, I've never had issues prior at this location or Petaluma. I went in for a set of trimmers, after purchasing them I noticed a little bit of wear on the handle but didn't think much of it. I went into my vehicle and noticed the box didn't have any tape or seal so I opened it up and noticed the trimmers were already used! I went back in within a minute or less and politely asked if I could exchange or return the clippers I just purchased (mind you, not cheap) the employees then told me they couldn't return anything used as if I was the one who used them. I called customer service and they said they don't sell used clippers and pretty much said I was out of luck and I had to call the manufacturer. read more

I've gone to sally beauty where I live and they are amazing. This one- not the case and especially when you check their repetitive bad reviews. The store opens at 11 and closes at 5. I get there at 1:30ish and they are closed no sign or anything to say lunch. So I go in the store next door for a few minutes- come out and the door is open. I decided I would run into ross real quick before hitting the beauty store last. I was only in there for a max of 15 mins. Go back and the door is shut again with a customer knocking. Finally a young girl comes to the door to say she's leaving for lunch. I asked where she had been the first time and she said on her break. How can a store open at 11 and then this employee takes a break and lunch all within a hour/hour and half when you have only been open for 3 hours at that point ?? When I was telling her that's not right and there were four more people now waiting to go inside. She throws her hands up at all of us, turns her back and walks away. I have worked in customer service and EVERYTHING about that is wrong. I called to ask for a manager and she replies she doesn't have one. So I asked for the bosses name and number and still she wouldn't give me one. She honestly shouldn't have the job if she treats her customers like that. It takes a lot to bother me to that point but you don't turn your back on a customer and walk about like that. And I truly believe her boss Wouldn't be okay with her doing what she did. She has now costs her boss 5-6 sales because of how many people she turned away. Don't go here. Every single time I shop at this location I'm greeted with a smile, it's intimidating being a male walking into a store full of women's products. Jennie the store manager remembers my name which is appreciated and is on top off navigating me through the store to pick up what I came in for. A little worried about the future of this location as there are only 3 store still open including Sally Beauty. She assures me if Marin Square closes they will relocate some where else in Marin. System is down so you won't get your discount with Sally's card and it's cash only. But they won't tell you when you walk in and there's no Sign to let you know any of this. What happens is you walk into the store spend about 30 minutes shopping and when you get to the front the girl behind the register will let you know. You would think they would at least give you your discount without having to put the number in. read more

I recently ordered some spray tan online and when I received the device, it was not working (the canister wouldn't fit into the device) . I took it into my local Sally today for an exchange, and as usual, got the worst service. The woman who rang me up first refused to do my exchange because she said it was missing the tiny make up sponge that comes with it. I understand that... she has to stick to policy. Whatever. So I searched in my trunk and found the sponge and came back. They had three employees including the woman who had just rung me up but no one came to help me. After several minutes of waiting, the lady who declined my return finally came over. She was clearly annoyed the whole time she did my exchange and to top it off, she said I was going to be charged more because I had purchased my original product on a coupon. So I get a defective item, come back for what I expect is an easy exchange, get charged more, and get major attitude too. I have stopped shopping in this store because everyone that I've encountered is extremely rude. In this case, I didn't want to wait another 2 weeks for a new item so I thought I would just bring it to the store. After years of poor experiences here, I finally decided to write this in. Not that it matters, but I spend a fair amount at Sally and it's the only place I know that sells this product. If there was another store selling this, you bet I would start going there. Went to buy hair-die, look'n for a particular color that I knew the code and everything... since it was the only item I needed it, picked it and move to the register. The lady advice me that that particular product had to be mixed with some other chemical in order to make it work and they will not be responsible if the product damaged my hair. So I had gone in one time to look at the nail polish and was around the corner. I heard the most awful things someone could say to another human being by a young woman with dark hair. She was saying her co worker just sits there doing nothing and just looks pretty. But add in very vulgar words and 2 other employees. I hit up Sally's regularly where I live and I also travel a lot, so I also stop in a handful of different areas. This is the very first time that I've ever gone into a Sallys store without being greeted or offered help. We were not even a knowledged when we entered. There was only one other person in the store but both associates were too busy talking and stocking. After about ten minutes we asked for help, and the store associate did help but with zero charisma and offered the bare minimum information, had no recommendations to get back to stocking. The information she offered to my sister was literally basic knowledge, and she was so obvious in not wanting to deal with customers that my sister was put off and didn't want to bother her anymore. read more

I planned on getting scissors to cut our hair at home and she answered all my questions. I had great help in the shampoo section as well. I walked in today to be greeted by both associates standing behind the cash register with a half hearted welcome. Zero follow up or asked if I need help. I wondered around lost while they chatted and when I finally found the actual aisle I needed, zero help was still offered. They hadn't moved, while multiple customers were in the store. I opened a box of dye bc majority of their color samples are missing and no help was offered, bc I wanted to know if I needed bleach or could color on my own. The female finally left her perch and yelled at me that boxes couldn't be opened. Then offered zero help further. I can't believe this store operates on this horrific level of customer service. Due to my lack of assistance l hate what I bought and will try to return. To really bring home the horrible experience, the male employee was telling my young child ab how he pierced his own ear with a thumb tack and their piecing options are better. I repeatedly mentioned that wasn't ok with our family yet the employee keep talking about it. Hopefully those two awful employees will not be present during my return and also receive the training needed. read more

The staff are not hair specialists. They know a little but they cannot be compared to your professional hair stylist. So, don't blame them for lack of knowledge. They're there to sell products. One time I brought the wrong receipt to exchange an item I had bought a couple days ago, one of the staff members said to not throw out my receipt, even though i had just brought the wrong one, the manager luckily told her to just do the exchange. I allowed myself to be convinced to buy another shade. I even double-checked with the young woman advising me, "but I was using gold before. If I use neutral now, won't it turn blue or purple?" "No it will not. Gold will turn it orange. Get neutral." I got gold/neutral. Now my hair is part bleached, part odd purple. Not cool. read more

But then I met Alicia, who really took the time to find out exactly what I wanted -- one of the semi-permanent fantasy colors for highlights -- and patiently advised me on the best colors for my hair + the essential supplies for doing the job at home.
