This location is tucked away in a pretty large mall area, especially since nothing else around it is open. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, one gentleman, on the bigger side, had an extreme body odor and was burping throughout the store which was quite unprofessional and unpleasant. If I could give zero stars, I would. I just left this Sally Beauty location in Villa Park feeling humiliated, disrespected, and angry. From the moment I walked in, I was followed, monitored like I was a threat. Every aisle I entered, a different employee suddenly needed to "restock" nearby or pretend to organize something already neat. It was blatantly obvious. Their focus wasn't on providing customer service--it was on making sure I didn't "steal." This is what racial profiling looks like in 2025: subtle, calculated, and absolutely disgusting. I came in as a paying customer. I left feeling like a suspect. And let me be clear: nothing about me warranted this treatment except the color of my skin. I don't care how much product you stock--if you treat people like criminals for shopping while Black or Brown, you don't deserve our business. Shame on every employee who contributed to this. Hidden away in one of suburbia's wealth of strip malls lies this handy little beauty supply shop. Inside (well, and outside in the strip mall itself) isn't pretty... but it's a good stop if you're in a pinch for hair supplies as they carry a decent selection of cost effective little combs, teasers, blow dryers, curlers, flat irons and more. While the store mostly caters to hair accessories and supplies, they do have a small selection of nail supples and make up, though I've found most to be overpriced and of low quality. I stick to the hair business at this beauty stop. And don't expect any prissy deco here, this place is as utilitarian as they come. Amy the manager is very unprofessional. She leaves the store open almost everyday with no manager on duty. I was in there the other day and all I could see was a bunch of kids. I'm only 20 myself so I would like to see some people who could actually help me around there!! It felt like a school tour with no teacher because no one could help! Ava is very rude and not welcoming to the customers. She told me I confuse her on my sexuality... what does that have to do with you!!!! I was there to buy beauty products but I know I have a better chance anywhere else. Even if it mean I have to pay a higher price, I don't want teens selling me the wrong stuff! Stopped in for some much needed items. I had no clue what I was looking for but the lady working helped me out so much! I left learning a thing or two about hair. :) Neatly organized, clean and a knowledgeable staff. While I was checking out she asked me if I had a Sally card. I said, no I thought you had to be a beauty professional for that. Nope! For $5 a year, you can get the card and get discounts, coupons, etc. Not bad for $5 and when you sign up you receive a $5 coupon in the mail. So it basically pays for itself. #Winning read more

I've had great experiences here, but word to the wise; tape your receipt to the box of any electronic devices you buy & hang on to them - they won't take them back without the receipt. Whether I am running in to grab some eyelashes or I am out of some critical hair products, Sally's Beauty Supply is open and willing. They offer coupons for taking surveys and give a discount to professional Cosmetologists. I la la love the staff, tho they are not licensed cosmetologists they are very helpful and friendly. I always enjoy running in and catching up, the girls seems to lighten my day up without knowing. Now 3 Stars because I am a snob when it comes to the average Joe or Joe-ett that wants to lighten or mess with there perfect quaff that a pro stylist does. BUT before you stone me I am going to give props where props are due and then here it is: Thanks corporate Sally's for always being open when I need you, turning a hair er into a sigh of Ann's relief, making your Sally's team work holidays & and late hours but paying them overtime, and thanks for giving hope to home stylists in America. Definitely do price checks at local stores and check your receipt. I found the same items at Target for much less. The sales assistants were nice but they also messed up the receipt and charged the regular price instead of the sales price. They only price match if you have a flyer. So it's not good enough to take a screenshot and bring that in. Or show them on your phone. They need the actual flyer. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! - Do not go to this location.EVER! So here is my story: I went to the store on Sunday (my only day off from work) to return a curling wand. However, it appears that returns can only be made on days where the manager is in the store.. Unfortunately, BERNIE FOLEY (owner/manager) only works during the week. WHAT? I was told I have to come on Tuesday because that is when Bernie "might" be in the store. WHAT? I had to take time out of my busy day to stop at Sally's only to find out that I cannot return anything without a manger in there to authorize the transaction. I got to say, I'm very disappointed with my experience at this Sally's. I just recently moved from California to Illinois and I've been searching for a local Sally's and this was the closest one. I just ran in there to get a couple things and that was it. I went to pay and that's where everything went downhill. The associate that rang me up immediately freaked out when I told her I was paying half cash and the rest on my card. Not only that, she kept getting frustrated when something wouldn't ring up. I was standing at the register for 20 minutes before she told me that she doesn't know how to work the register and she asked me to wait until another associate comes back from the bank. I didn't want to stand there waiting, so my boyfriend and I left and ran a couple of other errands before we came back. Right when the associate that was ringing me up earlier saw me, the first thing she said was, "Oh you're back, did you bring cash this time?" I just thought to myself, "Wow really? Why does it matter?" That was the first thing that set me off. I waited another 20 minutes for her to ring everything up right and then at that point, I was so frustrated and I just wanted to get out, I ended up paying with my credit card. Even though I did NOT want to, seeing as I just paid it off. But the one thing that I didn't like, was that she kept blaming the system and me, A PAYING CUSTOMER, for everything! That's the number one rule of being a sales associate, never blame the customer! Overall, very disappointed with my visit(s). Tons if employees unpacking boxes which littered the floor and honestly made it difficult to shop. I got so frustrated I stopped browsing. If I am in need of a quick pick up on colors or pins, brushes or polish, I would recommend this stop. The ladies have been working their for years! They remind me of some retired stylist that could of been in there own tv show. Characters for sure. They are very down to earth and friendly. Bad customer service...I walked in and went straight to the nail polish polish which is right in the front. One employee had her cart there as she was stocking nail polish. Didn't even say hello as I stood by her browsing for over 5 minutes. She and the other employee were complaining about a customer who has just left and couldn't be bothered to acknowledge me. Very unprofessional. Plus, she could see me looking at the nail polish and her cart was in the way but she didn't offer to move it or ask if I was finding everything okay. Both employees continued having a conversation with each other from separate sides of the store so the whole time they were shouting. Once I finally paid, the women did something wrong on the register and it took about 10 minutes to resolve . Not worth it for 2 nail polishes. I've been visiting this location for over 6 years now because the selection is wonderful. I wish I could say the same for the staff. I have met some really incredible women at this store who are helpful, professional, and polite. Then there is one employee, must be the manager or assistant manager, who has absolutely no customer service skills. Every time I go to this store, I cross my fingers that she won't be there because I don't want her lack of professionalism to put a damper on my day. Unfortunately, for the past few months, she has always been there. When she hears the door chime, she will yell out from the back room. This happens every time. It makes me wonder if she just sits back there all day yelling out to everyone who walks in the door. I don't have a scheduled day or time that I visit the store so it's not as though I'm catching her on her scheduled break every time I visit. On several occasions, she has muttered under her breath as she comes up to the cash register to ring me up. She looks annoyed as I gather the things I want to purchase and just stares at me. I've never met the lady before so I can't imagine it's personal, unless she just doesn't like the way I look. I put up with it, because I liked the products and figured I don't have to see her all the time, so I'll deal with her attitude for a few minutes. I visited the store again this past weekend, but this was the last visit. This lady is out of control and it's a shame that she thinks it's okay to look down at customers and the to talk about me to other employees as if I can't hear her. She acts as though I'm completely inconveniencing her by coming into the store. I never come in just to 'look around'. I always make a large purchase. One of her employees actually apologized to me for her rudeness a few months back, stating she was "snippy" because she was stressed. I was a regular customer of SALLY BEAUTTY, located on 124 W ROOSEVELT RD. VILLA PARK, IL 60181. Not anymore. Every time I visited this store I had regrets, telling myself NEVER AGAIN, this will be the last time! It's imposible to get an employees attention to save your life, don't even bother. They are usually cheat chatting aloud to each other across the store, very annoying. My recent experience with the Sally's employee was very unpleasant. Searched the place for a hair day. After I asked one of the assosiates to help me, she screamed out at me that she didn't have 2 hours of time to explain to customers what kind of developer they need to get with the hair color. She said that it would be better for me if I go to Walgreens, where I can get a hair color ready to use. I was stunned, dazed, speechless. The worst part is that was there to spend money and not a soul asks if I need help. Save yourself the trip! This was no longer a store I would shop at... EVER. read more

Boy, I never wrote a negative review about anything, but I have to in this case. I went in "today " during a break and was looking at products in an aisle. There were no customers and i saw no employees. All of a sudden I hear a "disembodied" voice say "hello" ..from far away..seemed like the far side of store. I assumed someone was talking on their cell phone..as the voice is very far away..Then I hear another "Hello"..again from far away. I still have seen noone!..finally I hear 2 ladies yelling "Hello!"..still seeing noone I say outloud..to whomever is talking "are you talking to me?".They yell "Yes!.do you need any help!!??" in an irritated tone. Still seeing noone ...I say "No". Again ..still not seeing any person at all...i look for a couple minutes..then leave the store..as I felt a little strange about the whole episode....as they obviously saw me from some hidden corner of store via a mirror or something..but felt it appropriate to yell at a customer across store who cannot see them/instead of approaching me. The kicker was when i left the store..I specifically heard ONE OF THE GIRLS SAY "DUMBASS!" referring to me . I was very upset but did not want to get involved in an argument with a teenager or at least someone young enough to be my granddaughter..Both of these young ladies (I assume they were female by their voices) were too lazy to get off their behinds..but not shy about calling customers "Dumbasses"..Well maybe Sally's should have stayed in the inner city in Chicago..instead of expanding to the suburbs..where customers will not accept such juvenile and lazy behavior! I also work at an office with over 100 employees..and a few of the ladies have told me about similar experiences with Sally's staff. read more
