I found this salon on Yelp and even though the reviews weren't spectacular, I gave it a shot because it's close by and the business looks beautiful. My husband and I came in for mani & pedis. I really wanted to like this business but their services are not for me. We were helped by three staff and only one of them were kind during our visit. They accidentally cut my husbands toe. We barely had time to soak our feet before the pedicures began. My gel (shellac) manicure was uneven and lumpy. My cuticles were not properly trimmed. The total cost for our mani and pedi came out to $131. I gave $40 and asked for change with the intent to tip each of the three staff $10. The person who took the cash took the $40 and did not give me $10 back. I wanted to tip even if services were not up to standard because they did work on our hands and feet. I took my daughters here today for some girl time and it was the best time we've had at a spa. Michelle gave me a mani/pedi and it is an experience I'll never forget. Not only was this place beautifully decorated, but it was very clean and airy. You could actually smell good clean air, because it was spacious with high ceilings. My most favorite part was when she used this chisel- like tool on my callas. I've never seen this before at any other nail places. My heels has a stubborn buildup that only Michelle's tool gave it a deep polish. I REALLY like the results. I look great and feel great and my girls (6 & 7) got their sparkles on. We drove from Cupertino and it is so worth the drive. We are definitely coming back. read more

Two incidents occurred at this salon which formed strong decision for me to to never, ever return to this place again. Service was better when this was Spa Elysee. All the nail technicians remain the same. My husband and I scheduled an appointment for manicure and pedicure at Sally Spa Salon. Came on time for the appointment. Two young girls came ahead of us without an appointment. They ask the nail tech if she has time to take them for mani/pedis. She says yes. We realize there is not enough people and ask well what about our appointment. She becomes rude, suggests we go to some other salon because "No time". We are standing there in a complete shock. Try to explain we had an appointment and they just took two girls without an appointment filling our appointment spot. What in the hell? Ok, I could live with that, however. Today my daughter goes in for gel nails. They charge her $75 my daughter leaves them a generous tip of $18. They charge our card $93. Then they refund $93 followed by refund of $187.00. Then they charge $187 again and $75.00 on top of that. Then the nail technician starts texting my daughter that she needs to come back with a card. I take the phone, the lady starts talking. I try to explain the flow of charges. She doesn't listen, gives phone to a customer who speaks better English. The customer tells me that I need to show up at the salon with a card. I thank her for her advice. I tell to whoever is listening at that point to have the owner call me. The owner calls back, at this point my husband takes the phone. Tries to explain, asking her to write down the charges that occurred, trying to explain that they overcharged. When it is finally resolved, owner offers us to come for free mani. I am sorry but free mani will not fix the way you treat people. Big mistake, huge. read more

Not only was the place super clean, the ambiance and decor will make you feel like you walked into a 5 star resort. The place has an open concept, big and high ceilings. I did not feel crammed like other salons. The ladies are so attentive and professional. All of their tools are sanitized and sealed. In between clients they change the liners, sanitize and wipe everything down. These ladies go out of the way to pamper their clients and make them feel special. I had my nails here 3 weeks ago and still shaking my head over the service. First off: I was the first appointment for the day and i arrived on time but no one was there when I arrived. Had to wait about ten minutes and no one apologize...ok well let that go...then the lady that did my nails never looked at me, never greeted me and barely said a word to me. I think she asked me what color. Then when she was done she left me to start in someone else and never came back to help me get my sample on. Someone else did and when I was on my way to the car I noticed the polish was smudged. Then later my nails were getting caught in my socks and I realized my nails were not sanded smoothly. I had a o have my nails repainted and sanded somewhere else. I went here cuz it's local to me and it was rated high on Yelp. I went in on a Monday morning, and they were so welcoming to me and my sister. The person who signed me in was super super friendly, and was so happy to greet me. The nail technicians were so quick, accurate, and gentle when treating me and I asked for a hard design and they did it with no difficulty!!!!! No, just No!!! My partner booked us a mani/pedi. I was excited to try a new place. Upon arriving, the place was empty and I thought great as I we would get sat right away. First impression was okay I like this place but that's where it started to go wrong. After getting situated in my chair I hadn't even finished pushing up my pants to put my feet in the water and the nail technician (Sarah) started taking off my polish. She barely engaged which is fine however she made it feel like It was my fault for coming into to get my nails done as she quickly moved through the motions. I then went to push my seat back (I am tall) and was told oh the seat is broken, I said okay, as I looked around at 10 other seats they could have put us in. I get things happen so I brushed it off. Then as she started working in my cuticles, she nicked me a few times. And again I brushed it off. During the (sub-par)massage portion she just wiped lotion on my legs and rock once or twice, (my partners massage looked awesome and he confirmed) Now on to the callus scrub, using the sander she hit my foot with the tool and not the sander (ouch). It was really at this point I decided I couldn't move forward. I told her I no longer wanted my toes painted and she was happy to stop working. Some positives though. My partner was throughly relaxed and enjoyed his pedicure, massage, and chair. My manicure was good. Maybe I should have spoken up to be moved or for another technician but as someone who has never left 1/2 way through a mani/pedi and gets them done about every 2-3 weeks I would not recommend this salon. So many other options in the area with better customer service and higher quality results. read more

Horrible experience. I called and made an appointment three weeks in advance. When I arrived, no one was at the front desk--it took a few minutes for someone to approach and greet me. When I told them I had an appointment, they looked at me blankly (as if they either lost or forgot about my time slot). I was looking for a specific color that my friend had gotten here one month earlier, so I politely asked a technician for the color. She hastily handed me the bulk of colors with a rude smirk on her face (and an eye roll). Next, I was rushed into the service. As a result, I was not able to find the color I wanted. Then, the technician performing my mani took my bag from my lap (with the intention of placing it aside) and brushed my face with it! The mani service itself was rushed and poorly done--everything from the nail polish application, to the massage. How badly done? Ten days later, the gel started coming off and started getting caught on my clothes and in my hair. I've been to a few nail salons and know that you can be fast and efficient without being rude and hasty. The pretty decor does not make up for poor service--it's not worth their price. The owner, Michelle is wonderful and friendly and she makes you feel very welcome and comfortable. I've been going to Michelle for almost 10 years from her shop in San Francisco to Burlingame. She has another shop down the block and that one is great too, clean and nice but this new one is much bigger and the decor is lovely too. The shop is very clean and airy so you don't feel cramped sitting next to other people. All the ladies who work there are nice and friendly and does their job well. Don't make the mistake of ignoring the negative reviews like I did. I got a pedi and was happy with it, and the nail lady was lovely and and pleasant. I also got a full set done and while it started out a bit better than it ended, I was growing very frustrated towards the end because the lady couldn't understand me well and my concerns. I tried guiding her in the very beginning with my acrylics because I already was able to tell she isn't taking the time to make sure all nails are even- I even told her as soon as one was glued on that it's crooked but she insisted it'll be fixed. My thumb nails turned out hideously short because one was initially longer than the other so she had to cut the other down- the end result didn't match the rest of my nails. I also asked her to wash her hands because she was doing my nails with a bloody finger, there was a scab that grew bloodier as she doing my nails. I don't think she understood because she laughed it off. My point is, if I'm paying a lot of money for such a service, the work should reflect that. Despite not being happy as I was leaving, I still tipped both women very well because they are earning a living. I ended up coming back to remove my set and in the end, everything wasn't even removed because when I went to another salon nearby (which is great) they had to finish removing the previous work. I even tipped well when they were removed, despite the woman not wanting to take it, but I wanted to thank her for taking the time to do so. More than anything, this review is solely for the fact that the owner is an arrogant, rude man who had the audacity to not only bombard me without introducing himself, but decide that using a cuss word when speaking to a paying customer is appropriate and inviting. He also knows nothing about nails because he told me the work I had done is the best they can do. Perhaps these people clearly haven't seen what a better or even an average salon can do if my nails were the best work possible. I'm not here to disrespect the nail technicians by the way, simply talking about my unfortunate experience briefly so that other clients and customers can keep in mind before spending their hard earned money at this establishment. read more

This was my first visit to this nail salon. Although they were very nice, the lady that did my nails today cut my cuticles and actually cut a little too much where she made me bleed. I have read that cutting cuticles is actually not a good idea and even illegal in some states (not in California) due to a risk of infection. Although they did have me wash my hands and placed some antibiotic ointment it's a little concerning. I have had my nails done before and 1. They have never used their own nail to push back my cuticles and 2. They have never cut my cuticles that deep. The only other thing I did notice was that they used the same instruments between my friend and I (I mean she is my friend but still) I feel they should have used different tools. I will monitor my finger and hope that it doesn't get infected. I tried seeing if I could email the manager so they have record but there isn't a way to contact them. read more
