I really wanted to visit a typical New England seafood house on my trip because that's one thing we just don't get in the Midwest. I chose Salmon Run Fish House as it is "on the turnpike from Stockridge to Boston." Had to work that in... Considering Lee, MA is a good 1 hour plus from an ocean I think it was a pretty good find. I started with a cup of Clam Chowder. The clams and potatoes were well cooked and the broth was nice and creamy. My lunch came out just as I was finished. I got the Whole Belly Clam Roll which came with coleslaw and French Fries. The French Fries were just OK and I didn't even taste the coleslaw but the Whole Belly Clams were a real treat! This is something you never find in the Midwest. They were crispy and briny. This is a really cute small town and I got the impression the majority of the diners were local. Nice family business. We stopped in here and we're promptly seated (outside). Ordered an amazing Lobster roll. A huge thunder storm rolled in and the manager managed to get us quickly reseated inside. We had the seafood stem and Ahi tuna and both were delicious and our server (Aliona) was great. I saw the manager also walking a customer to her car with an umbrella- that about says it all! Good solid New England fish house as far west as distant west Massachusetts. Now that Durgin Park in Boston has closed (which I just learned: shock), you may have to come out here to get that kind of seafood (doesn't have the rest of the menu, sorry). Has the atmosphere of a high-end diner, so it was comfortable and easy to eat here. Though the specialty is salmon, I went for baked scrod, which was tender and flaked easily and had a little crunch on top. Unseasoned, just the flavor of the fish to come through. Took a while to come, so I suspect it was cooked to order. I had lobster bisque to start to occupy the time, and that had good chunks of lobster in it. Oh, and the fish came with the most fantastically good french fries, crispy all the way through as I like them. Well worth going slightly out of my way to stop here. read more

So this place was not bad it just wasn't good enough for any more stars. When we first arrived there was one server on the floor so we knew she was busy . We ordered 2 glasses of wine which were very nice pours and pretty good. We had 2 house salads with blue cheese dressing that came in little plastic containers. Being this is a casual place I will forgive that but leave the plastic for takeout . The blue cheese dressing was store bought but the salad was pretty good size . Server asked if we would like bread and I said yes as I love to have that with a salad . After a wait she said bread was in the oven and it just never came. On my way to the bathroom I saw bread on other tables and it looked really good so that was disappointing. Hubby ordered a burger - medium and it came out pretty rare . He ate it so I can't really complain about that . I had the caramel cake to go and it was really good but super sweet. Almost too sweet. All in all a casual place to go and give it a try . read more

Nice place for dinner or lunch. Nothing special. Good service, nice atmosphere, very busy. We went for an early afternoon dinner and had to wait for a table. We were seated in a short time. We were disappointed to find you can't have baked potatoes until about 5 pm. The dinners were ok, disappointed they didn't grill the bun on the lobster rolls and that they didn't serve hand cut fries. Clam chowder was very good. Total dinner for 4, and 1 beer and one glass of wine was 115.$ Someone I was waiting in line with said they have excellent burgers and I saw some delivered to a nearby table and they did look really good. read more

Another success today at Salmon Run. My all time favorite seafood dish is the Seafood Fra Diavolo, and my mouth is watering just writing. Unlike other places who do a similar dish, Salmon Run puts salmon in the dish. And the sauce is flavorful and has a mild kick. Add some warm bread for dipping and this is a little slice of heaven. Now for my constructive criticism: I think this establishment could upgrade their raw oyster fixings for pickled onions and horseradish, and just fresher cocktail sauce all around. Decent oysters though, but lacking a clear source which is very important to oyster connoisseurs. The crab cakes were actually pretty bad. We didn't finish them. They tasted almost rancid like. Maybe some fresh herbs would do them well. They need to be revamped. Anyway, you guys still have a loyal customer. Cheers! read more

In town for a few days and actually planned on going to a different restaurant but on the way spotted this one. They have their seafood right! Clam chowder was perfect texture. The lobster roll had an option of being served cold (with mayo & celery) or warm with melted butter. The latter was delicious with some very big lobster pieces. I left behind half the roll - too much bread would have taken away from the lobster. But apparently my husband's tuna taco may have even been more delicious than my roll - I want to come back just so I can order it. Skipped the dessert, it was too heavy (mostly cakes) after an already big meal, some lighter options would be better. read more

Comfortable dark booths inside. We both had fish and chips along with an Arnold Palmer. Liked the cod and the fries. Service was also fine. The main thing that bothered us was the bill, around $55 with tip for what we had seemed pretty high. We are eating such delicious food during our stay in the Berkshires. My bourgeois kids were demanding mussels, so we checked out this restaurant. They got everything their hearts desired - calamari, clam chowder, and mussels. I had a super delicious meal - Baked Cod Florentine. Desserts were also delicious. Service was friendly and fast. I almost ordered the kids 2 bowls of mussels and the waitress advised me that was too much - like how nice! Also, they were very safe upon entry - taking temperatures, contact tracing, etc. Also, I loved sitting in a cozy booth. Great place! read more

we really like this place. For a little while we can feel like we are on the Atlantic shoreline.... Hubby LOVES the lobster roll and whole belly fried clams (!), while the potato skins appetizer is a favorite of mine. Reservations help, though the kind and understanding staff often accommodate our last minute plans and find a spot for us. They really should get no stars. There were open tables it was 7:38pm, and they wouldn't seat us, not sure if it was because we were speaking other languages (Italian& Spanish) or our puppy. There was a dog bowl and when I called they said we could sit outside with our puppy. We got there way before they closed and they refused to seat us. Really despicable and mean spirited. When we came back from Another restaurant there were two new tables seated. I couldn't believe it. Do not patronize this place. They are not nice, professional or by any stretch of the word kind. We were very disappointed with the host. There was an open table on the sidewalk and a couple had just sit down before us and got menus. We did have a dog so we couldn't go in and we chose to sit at the only other open table. I went in to get a couple menus and explain the situation to the host. He looked at me and said he they were too busy and that he would not do it. Obviously we didn't even get to try the food or any further interaction with the restaurant. Our favorite place for fish fry and other pub food ( burgers and beer ) plus assorted salmon dishes. Reasonable prices, friendly service, cozy atmosphere. Food comes out hot, plated very nicely. We ordered cups of clam chowder and lobster bisque, both delicious and tasted homemade. Burgers cooked to order and were tender. Good portions. Fish fry served in metal baskets and delicious. Kids burger with onion rings also good. Daughter's salad with shrimp was good but shrimp a bit to spicy for her taste. She also ordered french onion soup and said that very good. Salmon Run Fish House in downtown Lee is another restaurant we frequent when in town. It delivers good consistent meals at affordable prices. Although, their emphasis is seafood the menu has plenty of meat and even vegetarian choices! Their daily specials are awesome! You can find Salmon Run Fish House on a corner of Main Street very close to church. There is a municipal parking lot in the back in case you can't find street parking. The restaurant is airy with an old-fashioned atmosphere; it is divided into two sections; as you enter there is a smaller area filled with booth type sitting and bar area towards the back. To the right there is spacious dining area with different table sitting configurations. We have always been satisfied with their service and food; whether you are craving seafood or one of the best hamburgers around, this restaurant will not disappoint! read more

We had amazing service from our server Chris! The food was pretty good! The clam chowder was the low light of the meal. The beer was great and everyone was pleased with what the ordered. I had the baked seafood platter and it was good! My daughter had the crab legs and polished all of them off. The surf and turf was good the flank steak was prepared perfectly. Reservations a MUST on a weekend (in season). Known for their seafood dishes (as the name implies) and they didn't disappoint. Ordered app of oysters ($2/piece) that were fresh and tasty. Baked fish platter had scallops, shrimp, haddock and salmon in a lightly breaded topping. It comes with a starch and mixed veggie. Would have preferred to sub a salad, but not an option. Chicken parm was thick and had a tasty chunky tomato marinara. This came with a mixed greens salad that was good but a bit wilted from obvious advance prep. My girlfriend and I stopped for dinner on Saturday evening, May 18th, on our way home from a 3week road trip through Dixie. We had wanted to try the place for a while, since it was packed the last time we went through Lee a few years ago (on the way to see CSN at Tanglewood) and we couldn't get in. The menu offers a $22 Deal: pick two items from a half dozen listed. My girlfriend ordered whole belly fried clams and coconut shrimp. I didn't want to try that deal, and ordered the whole belly fried clams for $23.50. When our meals came, there were NO whole belly fried clams on our plates. In their place were clam STRIPS! We hate clam strips. Our waitress got the manager, who insisted they were indeed whole bellies, but the bellies were very tiny. "We have no control over what is delivered" she told us. If it was my restaurant, I would have simply refused the order if that was the case. What is a whole belly clam without a belly? It's a clam strip! The manager offered to swap my date's clam strips (my words - not hers) for four more coconut shrimp, which was agreed to. I kept my strips, though not too happy with the tasteless things. When we got the check, my girlfriend's meal was listed as "coconut shrimp", for $25.50. My clam strips were listed as whole belly fried clams, for $23.50. Clam strips were a couple bucks less on the menu. It's amazing to me that anyone would think we wouldn't know whole belly fried clams from clam strips. We're both in our 70's. The restaurant is very nice. The staff were polite and efficient. The meals we got were not what we ordered, but the restaurant got an extra $5.50 out of us just the same. End of story. read more

Pretty decent restaurant on Main Street in the quaint village of Lee. My colleague and I stopped there looking for lunch on the way to our meeting. After surveying the several diners and options, Salmon Run looked like one of the better choices - and it panned out well for us. It's a small restaurant with an intimate and narrow space but comfortable enough. I had the NE clam chowder which was piping hot, thick, and had a good flavor (perfect for a raw chilly day like our visit was). My colleague's gratineed French onion soup also was deemed good. The lunch special of fish and chips was well done with a light batter; cod fillet was fresh, flaky and hot, not oily; and accompanied with a good tart tartar sauce, a crisp, fresh cole slaw, and french fries - which were only ordinary IMO. We arrived at 4:30 was seated immediately. Asked what we wanted to drink and if we wanted bread. Of course we do. ;) I ordered grilled lemon buttered salmon, my husband ordered Cajun blacken salmon. We eat out a fair amount so didn't think the prices were out of line. I'm a big bread eater and the bread was perfect. The salmon was the best we have had since being on Alaska.
