We have eaten here many times before but unfortunately we will not be back. The food ranged from mediocre to quite good but was too inconsistent. We ordered the bread and butter off the menu (only way to get bread) and the butter was individually wrapped in packets labeled Sysco. It was too salty and not good at all. We adore the butter in France and expected better from a boutique French restaurant. We also experienced the owner as being quite argumentative and we experienced his manner as condescending when we made what we thought were two fairly normal requests. Two requests that this restaurant had honored in the past under previous ownership (but we were unaware of the change of ownership). Our experience was that the new owner belittled our requests. One, to cook the oysters (my mother can't medically eat raw oysters but adores them if they can be cooked. And this was a special birthday dinner for her.) And a request for organic wine which we had had at this restaurant before. (Non-organic wine gives her a headache.) We also found the owner quite argumentative and experienced his manner as condescending when we made what we thought were two fairly normal requests. **In response to the restaurant's comments below, the issue was not that he said no; it was the way in which we were spoken to. (My mother actually left the restaurant for a bit to collect herself but chose to come back in for the meal. I wish we had just left.) The waitress was lovely and attentive. She was professional in all of her interactions with us and we were very grateful for her kindness. The eggs mayonnaise was just ok (could have made better ourselves). The ratatouille was quite disappointing, no depth or real flavor- definitely would have been tastier if we had made it ourselves. The branzino was the only highlight of the meal yet they had left a cluster of the green bean stems on the plate... ? On purpose? The night before we had an excellent dinner at Alta in Lenox Center. Don't hesitate to go there! Cafe Triskele used to be consistent and excellent. Going to the Berkshires for 40 years. This is easily the best food I've ever had here, it's not even close. My brother and I had the pasta with grilled shrimp and capers (amazing). We could've gone back south to Great Barrington from our hotel in Lee, MA and driven the almost 20 minutes to a restaurant I peeked out the last time we were in the area, but decided to stay close by. And Triskele's French cooking, is one of the reasons why. The stars are all aligning for Triskele's French Chef and owner Gilbert, offering a comfortable, homey setting with incredible tasting food for this area. There are 3 dining rooms- 2 of those facing Main St. the other closer to the parking lot entrance with a softly-lit bar area. You can book through Resy which I noticed after I reserved by phone- but either way, you'll receive text reservation details and reminder. You'd be hard pushed to find a bad review here. Food is as good as you can expect from Triskele- think good tasting unfussy and hearty plates with a good dose of French music in the background. Our Sidecar and Cosmo cocktails were great and packed a TKO. The Beurre Blanc sauce in my Salmon dish was a bit loose- but extremely tasty. Hubs enjoyed his medium-rare rack of lamb and raved about the seasoned crust- even after we finished. He also felt the lamb was so tasty- that he didn't have the need to use the chutney/relish(?) it came with. Service was great! We got a reservation here when nothing else was available. It's unclear why we were able to get a table, as the food and service were both fantastic. We were welcomed warmly, seated quickly, and informed of the specials they were running low on so that we could get our orders in if interested. They had some excellent alcoholic and NA beverage options, and something (or several somethings) on the menu for everyone. Service was fast without being too fast, and attentive without being intrusive. Finally, the food was delicious. We had lamb, mussels in an Indian curry, baked cod in a cheesy dish, and a fancy burger. All were excellent. It's been a favorite Go-To dinning experience when meeting friends who travel up from NYC. The food has always been fantastic (you have to try the escargot at least once; it's amazing. I can't specifically recommend any of the main entrees as between the four of us, we've had them all. Never disappointed in the preparation or presentation. This time (this past weekend) the service was a wee bit down compared to other times. The staff was very friendly (as it always has been), but traffic out of the kitchen seemed to be off a bit. I cannot recommend Cafe Triskele enough for their outstanding food and service. We hosted a surprise birthday party in one of their private rooms, and from the start of the planning to the end, working with Rebecca was enjoyable, professional and she made the event feel personal. The vibe itself is like no other restaurant in The Berkshires. The decor is classic and the colors are soothing. You can tell a lot of time and thought went into each decision-- it's beautiful. The food is beyond out of this world. As someone with allergies, I felt safe and confident with the staff's knowledge about the menu and food preparations. I cannot recommend the trout enough with the mashed potatoes being the best I've ever had. Also, their specialty cocktails hit the spot and the wines were a hit. Rebecca made the cake (with fresh flowers from TownshipFour) and it was stunning! The flavor, texture and presentation were on point and gorgeous. Her passion reflected in the quality and execution of the cake. This was the first time coming to Cafe Triskele and I will be back again and again. It is my new favorite spot. read more

The food took forever to come out, and then we sat for over a half an hour with empty plates on our table, waiting for our server. It was a Wednesday and not at all busy. Huge contrast from high-end places like the Old Mill. It appears they don't train their staff. Food: 50% of the food was ok. Hidden fees and service charges all over. The prosciutto was old tasting and dry. The lamb was cold. Not shocked to see the Sysco truck pull up for a delivery as the food was pretty low quality. My kids eat real food and did not want butter noodles from the menu. So I got them a legitimate appetizer and was charged a split plate fee of $5 because I did not buy an entrée for my seven year old. Ambience: Again, the prices lead you to believe it's a high-end restaurant but the interior is not exactly comfortable. It's a restaurant in a converted house. It's a short jump away from having dinner at Grandma's house with fresh paint on the walls. There are significantly better places. Overall experience was okay, not great. We had a reservation for a dinner on a weeknight. The restaurant was empty when we got there and the hostess seated us right away. However, we felt we were being rushed to order and wasn't able to really enjoy our meal. I ordered a bubbly and wanted to start with some cheese with my drink while we look at the menu. However our server said he needed us to order everything at the same time and they will time it to bring out the courses. Guess what? The cheese and our appetizers came out the same time. For appetizers we tried the Escargot and Duck Rillettes, both were just okay and underwhelmed. Escargot was a bit salty as well. We found Cafe Triskele while staying in Lee at the Chambery Inn, it was a short walk from the inn and recommended by the inn's owners. We arrived to find a lovely, upscale-country restaurant with outdoor seating available; however, dining al fresco in the early evening heat & humidity was unappealing so we opted to sit inside. We were promptly greeted and seated, and water was quickly delivered to the table. The menu selections leaned to a French influence, but basic burgers and a child's menu were also available. We started with french onion soup and escargot for appetizers, and both were fantastic. For entrees we had a filet and lamb chops. The filet was cooked rare as ordered, but the beef was not as tender as I had hoped. The lamb chops were pure perfection with a unique and tasty variation of scalloped potatoes. The dessert menu looked fantastic, but even though the air conditioning was on, in a restaurant full of people it wasn't keeping up. We were so hot and miserable that we couldn't wait to pay our bill and retreat to somewhere cooler. It appears that the restaurant is cooled by mini-split units, and a second one is probably needed in that section. In spite of the heat, the meal was fantastic, the wine list more than adequate, and the service was only slightly below expectations because our server was new. This Lovely French and Irish owned with a great menu and carefully prepared dishes. The atmosphere is warm, uncluttered and tasteful. The wait staff were friendly knowledgeable and well seasoned. You can try the trio to experience the sampler of desserts or just go for a maple crème brûlée! Looks like this place changed ownership and name (previously Chez Nous), but kept the Yelp reviews from the old management, which seems to be why there's such a discrepancy between my review (3) and the average (4.5). This place tried to pass as a fancy establishment and succeeds in some regards (homey atmosphere, elegantly dressed staff, respectable menu items) but often fumbled the delivery (some flavorless menu items, often small portions, and small service quirks). My food: Clam Chowder - Creamy soup with bits of clam, this chowder was delightful. Truly comfort food, this dish served as a nice appetizer. There were also a few crackers within the soup, which managed to stay pretty crunchy even when submerged. Steak Bistro - Ordered medium, this steak was cooked appropriately and covered in a subtle sauce that really enhanced the flavor. Overall, the steak was really good, albeit small. The sides, however, were lacking. First, the portions were very meager and were in no way comparable to the NY Strip portion of salad/fries. Second, the potatoes were just not tasty; they were merely flavorless, uninspired filler food. Dark Chocolate Mousse Torte - This was delicious. Everything about this was great; the mouse was rich and the cake was thin but dense (in the best way). The ice cream that accompanied it was perfect -- seemed to be an espresso ice cream with crunchy bits inside. The dish also had some crunchies that tasted like pie crust bits. Well done. Samplings (items I tasted): The crunchy cheese layer was the main highlight in the French Onion Soup; the actual soup was quite bland / tasteless. The NY Strip was nicely done and tender with a tasty grill flavor. The fries in the dish were plentiful, well seasoned, and fluffy in the middle. The only thing was that the fries lacked crispiness -- overall good, but could use a bit of improvement there. The creme brulee was very good as well. The sugared nuts/whipped cream were a nice touch and the creme brulee had a good consistency. The maple flavor wasn't as strong as expected though. Small Service Quirk: I ordered a prosecco, which came as a mini bottle and a glass, so I has to open and pour it. Maybe it's just me, but I wish it just came as a glass full of prosecco. The service is excellent but that's as far as it goes. They were out of a few things that a lot of us wanted. There were 9 in our party. My rack of lamb was tough and even my knife had trouble. My wife's sirloin strip was tough also. Her Virgin Mary glass was filled to the top with ice so she had just a sip. Waitress offered another but it came back plain tomato juice. Escargot was fine. Onion soup used wrong cheese. My coffee was barely warm. Didn't ask others about their food because this was a party and didn't want to spoil the vibes. read more
