They also offer you and I mask type essential oil situation where you can pick different scents. After your hair is done washing you get processed and then you go back to your sitting area. It took a little bit to get my hair to the desired look but Michaela and the salon made it very easy to work with and get the results we were hoping for. I've never had such a traumatic color job... the application of the foils and the color was insane - foils scrunched every which way, no rhyme or reason... she was so rough on my head when she removed the foils, that it actually hurt. But it was the result of the color that actually had me in tears. I had to go to another salon to have it fixed, and when i tried to get a refund for it from Mark Christopher they gave me a bit of a runaround for about two months before I finally got refunded. I don't love giving poor public reviews but sadly this place seems to have had a fall from grace from its original top salon status.

These people royally…read morescrewed up my hair and had zero self-awareness or common sense to just look at it and see that. I have a simple haircut that works for the shape of my head and deals with my cowlicks for years. I explained this in the consult and showed photo references several times to the hairstylist, and I should have recognised this pattern early because I told her I had just washed my hair like 2 hours prior so I don't need to do that again, and after the cape goes on she has me go over there and does it anyway. Zero listening or comprehension skills. Another creative way to describe the disaster is, it looks like I came in with vastly unrealistic expectations based on photo references that don't match the shape of my head - except all the photo references ARE OF MY OWN PAST HAIRCUTS DONE ON MY OWN HEAD. I opened with an ask for a trim and came out of this place looking like a drug addict from a trailer park. I'm too self-conscious and judgemental to tell in the salon (and what am I gonna do anyway, have them glue my messed up hair back on?) not to mention conflict-averse because at this point I've acquired serious anxiety with hairdressers from how many times I've had someone mess it up. To be specific, I had basic layering/tapering maintained here and my length was just getting a bit too heavy. I also have a previous haircut disaster that I'm trying to fix from when my last hairstylist insisted on cutting this godawful V-shaped taper in the back of my neck that destroyed my natural hairline - I made the hairstylist aware of this. She didn't do anything to it at all and it still is sticking out looking lazy and unkempt just as it did when I walked in. Is a hairdresser not able to comprehend the nuance of "hey the last person messed this up, but I don't want it to be sticking out either so just try to handle it to get it back to where it should be?" Whatever layering I had has been obliterated. I lost no hair on the back of my head and a ton off the top of my head, utterly destroying the sense of balance my hair created for my large cranium. The huge chunk of hair she hacked out of the front left side of my head makes it look like my hair is falling out! It looks God awful, I am horrified and ashamed to go outside because of what these people did to my hair. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE BUSINESSES THAT DO NOT RUN ON COMPETENCE OR COMMON SENSE. Avoid it like the Black Plague. I can throw $50 down the drain but I can't get my hair back to where it was. If I can't find a better place then I'm literally going to have to fly around the world to pay $20 to the random guy in Indonesia who did a good job six months ago. EDIT: The response to this review is more proof than the haircut that everything I said about this place is accurate and then some. FWIW, they did leave a voicemail and tried to ask if I could come back in so they could "fix it", which is not how haircuts work. No mention of refunds for the damage, no coupon, and no apology, so to think that was done in good faith is not reasonable. As for the personal attacks towards me running for federal office, yes, I ran precisely because there are too many people with money & power who are vicious, lying cowards and understood that Congress would be an excellent place to put that kind of thing out to pasture. It's a shame I didn't win because we could clearly still use this attitude of mine in light of circumstances like this! Thanks for nothing though!

You can tell that he has been doing it for a long time and takes pride in his work. I've had my hair cut by him three times and I've been very happy with the results every time. The atmosphere at Tesoro is really laid back and comfortable. When you arrive you are greeted by Maurizio or one of the other stylists and usually offered a water or a cup of coffee. It's a nice touch and I think it speaks to the level of service that they provide. You can make an appointment but they also take walk ins. If you walk in though, you may have to wait a while. So, I would recommend making an appointment, especially if you're going on the weekend. As a guy, you really can't beat the value. For the price point $20 you get a professional haircut and wash. You are going to pay close to that at any one of the corporate hair cutting places where they tend to do a poor job and rush you in and out. Go to Tesoro for your next haircut, you won't be disappointed!

I was actually really happy to do this because it gave me a good idea of what to expect for my appointment and what the overall vibe of the salon was . Carly took a look at all of my pictures of the type of hair that i liked , and booked my appointment for a few weeks out . She gave me a cost estimate at the consultation which i am really grateful for because I've experienced "sticker shock " before at hair appointments , expecting to pay one thing and getting a much higher bill at the end of the service . I will say that the prices listed on the website are very much " starting prices " . My hair service ended up being a corrective color and did take several hours , however Carly explained to me that i will be able to go for several months in between my highlighting services so in my opinion, it was well worth the money and time ! Also , my hair looked better than i could have ever imagined , even better than the pictures i showed !

They were able to get me an appointment only one day in advance. I have been to many other salons in Raleigh where prices for basic cuts START at $50 - pretty ridiculous in my opinion - this is not the case at Salon 21. It is exactly what I was looking for - a stylish [yet down-to-earth], non-presumptuous place to get my hair cut! Andrea was so welcoming and fun to talk to! She made some great suggestions for my hair, but was not at all pushy about them - a somewhat rare quality in many stylists. I chose to go for the gloss treatment that she mentioned - since I told her about my frizz concerns - and I am so glad I did. It was affordable and I love the results. Plus, she was very attentive in listening to what kind of cut I wanted and what my regular hair routine is. My 9-year-old daughter and I both see Lynn. She treats my little girl like a princess and handles her straight fine hair and my curly hair equally well. Her color suggestions have been knowledgeable, modern, and just what I wanted. The staff are genuinely friendly and don't give off that fake-sweet or snotty air you find at some salons. The facility is charming and filled with light, which gives me confidence that the staff can SEE TRUE COLORS, unlike the Aveda salons I used for years with unpredictable results. Andrea cuts my hair and she always does a fabulous job plus she is the only stylist I've gone to that can actually style my hair and have it look fabulous! I went from one salon to another until I finally found my new place. Heidi is one of the best stylist I have ever had, she actually listens to me as well as makes suggestions. I've been to Salon 21 twice now and love it. I plan to stick with Cleo from now on for all my hair needs. She is great to work with and really knows her stuff. I love edgy styles but often times lack the desire to get up super early to style my hair every day. It was clear she wanted to keep going until I was satisfied. I paid $60 which is I think pretty standard. I feel fortunate that I found my new go-to salon on my first try!

K Elizabeth had great reviews that made me decide to give it a try. Although they don't offer online scheduling, they are very flexible and made scheduling easy. It is a quaint salon off St. Mary's Street in downtown Raleigh. There is parking behind and a little on the street (if you are lucky). About 3 weeks prior to my appointment, I got silly and colored my hair with Clairol Color Crave Semi-Permanent in Scarlet; let's just say my hair was RED. This stuff lasts 15+ washes; there's an understatement. After weeks of washing, my hair was a faded red/orange ugliness. I work from home, so not too many people thought it was CRAZY. I walked in and promptly apologized to Maddie for the condition of my hair. She was concerned that highlights, etc. might damage it due to the WONKY color, but she accepted the challenge. She spent a lot of time figuring out the best way to get rid of or remove/reduce the red. After working her magic, my hair just had minimal hints of red, and looked AWESOME! I was VERY impressed with Maddie and the team at K Elizabeth. They are all very friendly, and I could have spent more time watching them interact and just have fun.

You do have to park on the street, but generally you can find parking no problem, and I do recommend calling well in advance for an appointment (especially if you're doing color), since they book up pretty fast. Nick is there behind the reception desk and is also providing services at the shampoo sink, etc., and he is so comfortable to talk to! All that to say, if while you are sitting in your stylist's chair, and he or she is busy making TikTok videos, giggling like a school girl at another client's expense, and generally ignoring you, head for the door and never go back! I am almost one week post color and cut by Taylor at The Legacy Salon. All of my boxes regarding hair needs are checked. Last but not least, the fees at The Legacy Salon are reasonable, and a breath of fresh air when compared to the exorbitant fees charged at other salons. Dina takes the time to blow dry it one section at a time so that it lays flat without hot tools. I feel like my hair is much healthier and I also have been using the flat iron less. She puts so much love and attention into the cut and makes me feel like a million bucks. I barely even have to brush it. I checked the website and got the correct number and called and no one picked up. So I decided to walk into the salon today, since this place is within walking distance of where I live. No one greeted me initially for a couple minutes. I knew it was a small chance that I was going to get an appointment today, but asked. Instead of saying no and offering other time slots I was told they are by appointment only and to check down the road at the other salons. For a location that is not on the main part of downtown and charges $55 for a hair cut, I assumed you would get excellent service. I only decided to wrote this in hopes the owner will correct the problem as I would love this area to continue growing. Everybody is busy, but a service salon is only as good as its service.
