This review is long overdue! Salon 253 is the best! I originally heard about the salon through instagram. I saw a picture of one of my old classmates from UH who had recently gotten her hair done at salon 253. I had been wanting balayage but was picky about who to go to because of a bad ombre experience i had one summer. When i found out i'd be going to maui for a family wedding in october i decided to book an appt with salon 253. I tried to get an appt with the original stylist who did my classmate's hair, but she wasn't available the day i wanted so instead i got Ace. So happy i did! Ace is a ball of energy, super sweet, and really knows what she's doing! I showed her a few pictures on Pinterest and she immediately understood what i wanted without me having to explain. Ace was booked back to back and worked at lightning speed since i didn't give her much time before i had to leave to get ready for the wedding. My hair turned out amazing!! I am currently wearing my hair very short, and have been incredibly happy with Adiel's cuts - it is hard to find someone who can cut short hair without making you look like you did it yourself with clippers! Salon 253 is always booked, which is a great sign! I came here after having a bad experience at a different salon on Maui. My old salon on Oahu referred me to this place, they said it was the best on Maui. I came to Jade for a haircut a few days ago and I loved how my hair turned out. I was trying to save length on my hair after it became damaged, and Jade cleaned it up perfectly! Even though my hair is damaged, she made my hair feel wonderful without taking off more than an inch and a half of length. I would say book ahead that way when your ready you can get in. I wish I had gone here when I first moved from O'ahu to Maui, because if I had my hair wouldn't be damaged now! read more

I really enjoyed having Adiel as my stylist for my wedding day. She is truly talented, genuine, and a great person! I wanted something exotic, but subtle and she found the perfect solution with my makeup. Her makeup was flawless and she definitely helped me look like the princess I felt on my wedding day. Really cute boutique salon nestled in Wailuku town. I decided to get my hair cut here due to the great reviews on Yelp and I'm glad to say that I did! Got my hair done by Ace who was really friendly and knew exactly what I was going for. Perks of the place included lots of parking, cute boutique-like ambiance, staff was really friendly and welcoming, the online reservation was very easy and efficient, 25% off your first appointment (so I suggest that you should get at least two services done on your first visit) and can't forget the cup of warm cappuccino! My only complaint about this place is that I am only a visitor (prior resident) to the island now, so the only time I can come here is during my visits :( Other than that, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a stylist or salon! read more

I Highly DO NOT recommend this place! They do not know what they are doing in there, I specifically showed them several, if not dozen of pictures of the style and color I wanted and was reassured that it can be done. In the end, my hair and the style I wanted did not look nowhere like the dozen of so pictures I showed them. The stylist had to have several other stylist help her with my hair. I was then told 6 hours later, I can come back and they would fix it. So I returned to get it fix and it still did not come out right, In fact the same stylist did not know how to fix it and had to have the owner herself do majority of the fixing. All and all, for the amount of money I put into this I was better off going to the grand wailea to get my hair done. And they tried to charge me to fix it and in the proses damaged my hair. read more
