I looked on Yelp to find a hair salon when I was in Raleigh and I was so happy I found this salon!! They were super sweet to take me in last minute and my stylist was so nice and did such a good job!!! I had my cut with Drew. My initial impression was the consult took like 20 seconds and he didn't seem very attentive, but he was nice enough. Regardless, I wasn't wanting a lot done, just a trim and to clean up the lines of my inverted bob. When I left the salon, my hair had been blown out with a round brush so was harder to see the cut. I washed and let it air dry this morn and it's just not a precise cut. You can see blunt cut chunks for the bevel in the ends of the bob and my hair flips out at the ends. He also didn't keep my graduated bob... it's now all the same length from my back to the front and the only long part is two points in front. Maybe I got him on an off day since the reviews all seem to say otherwise, but I'm bummed. Considering the price of the cut is more than I usually pay, this just wasn't a good experience. I have been going to Salon Alchemy for a bit over a year. I was very devoted to my past stylist who at the time worked in North Hills. I had seen her for YEARS!! She moved locations and was almost an hour from my house! I reluctantly set out to find a new salon, but figured in the end I would just need to make the trek to my old stylist. I went to Salon Alchemy for the first time and Shea was my stylist. I left there SO HAPPY. The cut was perfect, and my color (which I do about every 6 weeks) was SPOT ON. I swear Shea cuts my hair better than my former stylist, and I NEVER thought I would be able to say that! I love to try new colors out...nothing crazy, but sometimes its fun to add some dimension. Shea always has the best ideas, and I always leave there happy. The salon in general has such a cool relaxed vibe. Always good music playing, and everyone is SO friendly. I usually head there on my lunch break and Shea gets me in and out in a timely fashion! So glad I found Salon Alchemy! read more

I love this Salon!! I have never been a repeat customer for hair salons, and this place changed my view. The owner, Mary, is one of the kindest, funniest sassiest and most talented hair stylists I have ever had the pleasure of working on my hair. She knows what looks good on my face type and is honest with me about hair length and color. Shea is equally as talented, and again, I have never been anywhere where the stylists talk to me about what I want, and give me an actual real opinions when I ask what they think of my ideas. My hair looks better because of their input! The customer service, conversation and sheer talent of all the staff has me hooked. It is worth every dollar to feel as special as they make me feel, both with an amazing haircut and valuing my time. Mary has put in precautions for the pandemic that emphasize her loyalty to the care of her staff and her customers, and that speaks volumes to her commitment to her business. I HIGHLY recommend Salon Alchemy if you want an amazing haircut, a GREAT experience and superior customer care! First of all, if you're reading this, hopefully you're at a red light. Now immediately turn the car around to go to Salon Alchemy. Seriously. Go get your hair cut there. As a young man I was hesitant bringing myself into a salon, let alone one titled Alchemy. Yet within minutes of walking in I realized where the name comes from. There are literal alchemists working in there who transform your normal hairs into gold. Shae has cut my hair every couple weeks for the last year and a half and everything about the experience is brilliant. She has fantastic style, exceptional skill, and is such a wise hairapist. I keep trying to get my other friends to go there but they're scared because it's called a salon and because it costs more than a soggy sandwich. They continue to gripe about how all six stylists at CheapKutzzz argued and snipped away all their decency while they sat silently filling their chairs with theirs tears... Alchemy is the solution. Seriously. Go get your hair cut there. Shae, Mary, Drew, Rebecca, and Meghan are some of the coolest people. I straight up take Biotin supplements so my hair grows faster so I can maybe squeeze in one extra haircut a year, just so I can go pick the brain of someone picking my hair; about dogs and kings and brews and trips and worlds beyond worlds and anything your heart, heart, or spirit desires. Shae is excellent on the cuttery and hair washingness, I don't even know what to say about this majestic woman. Mary commands the floor in a way that would make Magic Johnson smile and has been trimming her way to the top for longer than I can remember, a true master of the art. Drew is the beacon that shines light and color into every strand of the day, I haven't yet had my hair cut by him though sharing the room with him as he works is testimony enough. Rebecca cut my hair once when Shae wasn't available and she was spectacular, she brought kind energy and confident care effortlessly, she's wondrous in conversation and dewed me up right (I haven't spent as much time around her, but I'll update in the future after I've had a bevy of even more grand interactions with this youthful creation of idyllic swagacious talent). Finally, no matter how my day is going, how late I am, how early I am, how I am, Meghan is unflappably exuberant and greets every opening of those glass doors with an attitude and smile that could coax kindness out of the Night's King. She can read a situation with the resolve of the Great Author, sometimes I call and pretend to make an appointment but then have to hang up before finishing the booking so not to ruin anyone's scheduling, just to hear her vivacious positivity glimmering over the telelines (kidding, absolutely don't do that, but I do really enjoy calling to make appointments). She is absolutely gorgeous and her ability to perform her job with such deft grace is emphatically compassionate. I've spent many my last dollar many a paycheck getting my short hair made shorter and I don't regret a single dime of it, dare I say the value for the service they provide favors the guest in a manner most industries would balk at. I give my wholehearted approval to anyone seeking advice or styling at Salon Alchemy. Serious. Go get your hair cut there. I am so grateful my mum dragged me in there last summer when I had locks that needed love. Thank you Shae, thank you Mary, thank you Meghan, thank you Drew, thank you Rebecca. Take two women who normally never wear makeup and keep their hair pretty basic and you've got two nervous brides. But Angela and her team were comforting, patient and most importantly insistent about what works best. I was concerned about how heavy my makeup was ... until I saw exactly what Angela said would happen happening... the heat softened the look in a short time and now, seeing the first pictures cropping up, I know she was 100% right to insist I trust her. My sister was also very happy with her results. One bummer was that two of wedding party had their hair done and... I had asked very emphatically whether the team was adept at extremely curly hair and hair on women of color. Unfortunately, the amazing skills they have in general didn't quite transfer over to such specific hair types and we ended up paying for one do that was not quite what was wanted and another that was undone completely and redone by my sister-in-law herself. Nevertheless, I definitely do recommend Angela for non-specialty hair. I loved working with her and would definitely do so again. read more

I just had my first of hopefully many visits to Salon Alchemy. A friend of mine has been going to Mary for a few years and always looks great. I was a little hesitant because my hair is much finer and thinner than hers. I could not be happier with the results. I'm VERY particular about who I let take care of my hair. I've lived in Raleigh for 2 years, and have been going to Salon Alchemy for the last year, and let me tell you it's great. All of the staff is super personable but specifically the girl who does my hair, Shea, is AWESOME! She's the bee's knees, and always cuts my hair exactly the way I want. She offers for me to come back and fix anything after I leave, but I've never had to take her up on that offer once! She has helped me change my look rather significantly three times over the last year, and each time has nailed it! I've been seeing Drew for my cuts and color for more than 5 years now, and he's been great. The new salon chose a different product line for color than I'd had before, and it's absolutely fantastic. My color is a very light blonde, and my new shade is by far the best I've had in the 15 years I've been coloring it. Texture feels better too.
