With so many salons out there claiming quality service, great stylists and a reasonable price...Salon Atelier is one of the only ones I've found that can truly stand by it. The location is off the main road with convenient parking, and when you enter the salon, you feel like you're in a NYC specialty salon. There's always a pleasant smile there to welcome you and it's always busy so you know the word is out. I'm always greeted with a cup of coffee and some sort of sweet delicious snack that makes the experience a true destination. The services are great...from hair care to nail care to even skin care and they continue to expand. I've never been disappointed and can always rely on their quality stylists. I'd recommend making an appointment, but they've always been accommodating to walk-ins as well. Roseann has always been my favorite stylist--she's young, hip, and knows exactly what to do to my hair to bring out my best features. And she really listens to you. There's someone for everyone there. My only negative is that it's a 45 minute drive for me from Stamford...but it's well worth the trip! I found out about Salon Atelier through a friend and have been going there for about 2 years now, so I probably get the special treatment...but if you're looking for some special treatment of your own, make sure to check it out. read more

I have been to this salon 2 times. The first time I walked in and asked for a blow out. I have straight long hair and this is a fairly simple endeavor for a professional. The salon is nice enough, and the staff seemed well intentioned and polite. But as the "stylist" began working on me, I could see she had no idea what she was doing. She was very obviously a shampoo girl who they assigned to me because I was a walk-in. GREED I suppose, but I was horrified with the fuzzy horrid results and said so. I could have done a better job myself and was very turned off, but I paid and left. The last time I went I again walked in and was assigned a proper professional who did a fantastic job. The greatest salon I ever been to!!! I've been a customer over 10 years and had nothing but the best service you can get!!! They have expert stylists and they are all very experienced on everything from cuts to corrective color!!! Expect nothing short of impeccable service from this salon!! Let me start by saying my hair hadn't been cut in months. Was scared to go anywhere else because my thick hair never gets textured the way my stylist in Texas had mastered. My friend recommended I visit the salon and recommended Roseann as my stylist, boy was I shocked. I was actually amazed with the results. Roseann took the time and walked me through the process and made sure I was comfortable with the amount she would be taking off and made me feel at ease about the texturizing of my hair. I love Salon Atelier! It's been such a great experience each time I go. Since I live in Virginia but was having my wedding in NY, I didn't know who to seek for hair services for my wedding. My best friend referred me to Salon Atelier and I'm so happy she did! Roseann was always able to accommodate my appointment times when I was coming to NY for just a weekend. I've been to Salon Atelier several times this year for wedding trial hairdo's and for my bridal shower hair-do. My mom came with me one day for her hair trial, as well. Roseann and her colleagues did a great job each time and Roseann showed me several different styles. All of Roseann's styles came out beautifully - she is truly talented and dedicated to her work! Salon Atelier did my whole bridal party, my mom, my mother-in-law, my cousin, and my hair for the wedding. They were timely and efficient with such a large group of girls and all my girls looked wonderful. I can't thank them enough for making that morning so easy-going for such a huge endeavor. This place was a salon that me, my mom, and sister all went to for years. They are now under new management and has gone seriously downhill since! I had a bad experience during the winter earlier this year and my sister had an awful one this summer. Both of us had color treatments done both of which made very little difference to what we had begun with and nowhere near what was promised. My sister was promised a "honey blonde" color. She walked out with clearly Red/brown hair. Upon calling in to 'work something out' we were told that she would be given a discount for highlights. *They wanted her to actually pay more money to fix their mistake. unbelievable. I was recommended by a friend who used to be a regular client but has recently switched to another salon. She never said why but recommended Roseanne so I made an appointment. I should have known honestly since she wasn't going there Regularly anymore. HEllo! red flag! anyway i walk in to be greeted by Angela who was preoccupied talking to another girl about someone else loudly enough I could repeat the girl's life story. UNPROFESSIONAL! Then, I overlooked it because the rest of the staff seemed to be friendly. I waited for a while even though there was only one other client in the salon it seemed. Rosenne finally greeted me once I was in her chair and the shampoo girl was wonderful. Roseanne who I found out later is the owner seemed uninterested and didn't seem happy to be there. She didn't listen to a word I said, and was only concerned with talking about all of her employees to another client who must have been a friend of hers. She was inconsiderate to my requests and had nothing but negative and nasty things to say about her own salon!!! EVEN HER BUSINESS PARTNER!! My cut was good but was completed with little effort and when I asked about color she seemed as if I was annoying her and pushed me off to the front desk to pay my bill. I will never go there again! and i will never refer a single person! if the owner acts like that I wouldn't try anyone else regardless. Roseann has been doing my hair for almost 3 years. She is very talented and always does a terrific job. The work I see done by the other stylists is excellent as well. This salon does lovely special occasion styling including makeup. The manager, John, is welcoming and efficient. I've been here 3 times. Along with my mom either the same day or the day after. The first time was amazing and I got my hair cut so nicely layered after a bad experience at another salon. My mom went to try it out and she got a lovely hair cut with Jackie so I asked for the same person. I wanted to try side bangs since I never had them before. She gave my a nice bang even though it was a bit cautious and longer than I liked. The next time she was even more cautious with my bangs and I had to ask her to cut it shorter twice. The third time she gave my a bad layering job and my bangs didn't come out like I expected. When I went to another salon to get my hair dyed and the woman blowdrying my hair asked if I had cut them myself! I haven't gone back since. I also noticed Jackie was well dressed when I first started going to her. The last time she hadn't been well kept and her hair wasn't styled.
