My experience here was the best yet in San Diego. I moved to San Diego 3 years ago and have been looking for my "home" salon and I have found it. Let's start off with the location. The location is centrally located with plenty of parking. The salon is beautiful and provides a relaxing environment. I found Salon Aurora on tiktok when I came across a customer's video that caught my attention. It was so easy to book my appointment and I was excited that fate had an open appointment available 2 days later. I have minimal grey and was looking for a cut with face framing, grey coverage and some highlights to provide depth. My appointment was with Amber and she overly exceeded my expectations. She took just enough off and revived my hair providing more body and the perfect spring/ summer cut/color. Following my appointment, I went to run errands and the first location I went to, I had 2 women stop me to compliment me on my color. Amanda was so accommodating, personable and sensitive to not judge the current state of my hair which I have encountered at other salons. I went in today to Salon Aurora because I desperately have been needing a hair cut and decided today would be a good day to get one. Well, I didn't have an appointment anywhere so I thought it seemed unlikely any place would fit me in. To my surprise, Salon Aurora was super accommodating and fit me in within an hour. Bianca cut my hair and was so kind. She advised me on different ways she could cut my hair to make it look more full and healthy while also adding some definition. I've gone to Amber since 2018/2019 and followed her to each salon she has worked at, no matter the distance. I am so so happy she now owns her own!! I have not found a stylist that cares for my hair and requests the way she does. She has taken my dark, wavy hair to blonde and back again, without losing the integrity of my hair. I found this salon after searching online for the best blowout service in San Diego and decided to give this one a shot and I'm so glad I did. I have pretty long hair and a little bit of split ends.. I tend to have it tied up a lot. I figured my hair wouldn't be able to hold up to much but Bianca did so such a beautiful job at styling my hair for my event.. my curls stayed curly, soft and bouncy the entire night. Let me start by saying I don't trust many people to do my hair because I'm sooo picky. Therefore, it took me about a year of stalking Amber's work on social media to build up the courage to visit Salon Aurora. I can honestly say that now I wish I had gone sooner! I went to Amber for a half head highlight and long hair cut and she absolutely knocked it out of the park. I had about 9 months of grow out and was looking for a blended, dimensional, "fall" blonde. She took her time to understand my hair goals and look through my inspiration pics to make a game plan. I really got a sense for how detail-oriented she is because of how carefully she went through my (thick) mane of hair and meticulously highlighted each piece to create the seamless blend I was looking for. Her work truly speaks for itself, but on top of her incredible talent, Amber is super funny and nice and the appointment really flew by. Her assistant Sam was fantastic as well! The salon itself is absolutely beautiful with high ceilings, stunning natural light, beautiful plants, and was even decorated for Halloween when I went! So I first met Amber in 2021 and she has given me beautiful results ever since. This last month I cheated on her. Huge mistake ! I know. However, I knew I had to have Amber to fix my hair. Of course she delivered amazing results as expected. I got my highlights I wanted everything was mostly even and brighter/lighter. Which was what I was aiming for. I will be coming back for another session to go even lighter. I came in for a full color and color removal of my past dark brunette - I was wanting a rich, deep plum red that was still dark like my normal color, and Abby hit it out of the park. When I was worried about the color remover being harsh, she explained it in detail how it worked, and I was put at peace. I felt like I was in good hands, and I can truly sense Abby's confidence in her work which also put me at ease. She made the 3 hours fly by and was extremely efficient and kind. It's funny, they say "blonde transformations" are left for "expert stylists" ...no offense, shouldn't any stylist at the salon be able to do a blonde transformation? I seriously do not understand the difference between an "expert" or "novice" when everyone should be trained blonde color application at beauty school. Again, photos and reviews of yellow/golden looking hair is exactly why I would never spend $850 at this place. Then, to hang up on me and just assume I can't drop these asinine prices to ruin my hair, is highly offensive. If the owner is who I spoke with, then they really need to step up their game with proper phone etiquette. Customer service is a real thing. I found an amazing salon and it's a WORLD of difference. This salon is super cute and lots of parking outside so it was no issue that it was downtown. I followed Amanda here from her previous salon because she consistently gives me the best layers and curtains bangs I've ever had in my life. I have thick, frizzy, wavy-ish hair and she knows exactly how to cut it so that I can wear it wavy or blow dried and both styles look great. She also cuts my bangs so that I can wear a middle part or a side part. She also does an INCREDIBLE blowout. No one has ever been able to give me a blowout that leaves my frizzy hair shiny but she knows exactly what products and brushes to use to reduce frizz and give me that voluptuous Victoria's Secret blowout look. 10/10 recommend read more

I LOVE this salon. The atmosphere is so inviting and the women are incredibly talented. I have been a client of Amber's (the owner of Salon Aurora) since her early days as an apprentice back in 2017 when she transformed some bad highlights I got from someone else into beautiful warm tones that mixed well with my natural color. Together, we have taken me from brunette, to bright blonde, to pinks and purples and blues, and then back to my natural color, until today. Today we highlighted my hair for the first time in two years, and I am SO happy with the results (before and after attached). Sam is a great assistant, and you can tell that she knows what she's doing and is eager to learn. She also gives the BEST shampoo I've ever had. Wow, I don't know where to start but let me tell ya one thing that Amber truly saved my hair. Long story short, I had long black hair before and decided to do a drastic change. I went to someone first before amber biggest mistake ever but definitely learned a lot from it that's for sure. The first girl really damaged my hair but I mean damaged it sooo badly. Didn't know what to do till I saw ambers IG page from my favorite trainers.
