Ly is very easy to converse with. She has great customer service skills and is easy to talk to. She has great energy. I was short some change and she let me go, but she recommended lightening up my roots. I told her I wanted to get the brassy color out of my hair as much as possible. I ended up walking out of there with my hair MORE brassier than it was before I came in. Ly is the BEST! She has weathered me through a pixie cut -- and the dreaded growing-out stage -- a bob, and even bangs! I'm based in NorCal, but I make it a point to visit Ly at Concept Salon whenever I'm in San Diego. I have fine, straight Asian hair that's prone to frizz, due to excess washing (because it's so oily). No matter what new style I want to try, Ly strikes the perfect balance between creating something that is faithful to my inspiration photos and giving me something that will suit my hair type and facial features. The rare times I get my hair cut somewhere else (because I can't book an appointment, or I'm out of town), it ends in disaster. In any case, Ly manages to fix it at my next appointment. In addition to being exceptional at her craft, Ly is incredibly kind. Her warm, friendly demeanor immediately puts one at ease. I feel like I'm talking to a friend whenever I'm getting my hair cut. I've waxed poetic about Ly for years; now even my mom and sister go to her for highlights and haircuts. From what I've seen on them, she is equally adept at hair coloring. In the last year I've been coming every 4 weeks to see Ly to get my hair colored- I tried to color at home and realized that my hair looks SO much better when Ly takes care of it on a regular basis. I needed a hair cut so badly so I did a little research on Yelp and discovered Ly at the Concept Salon. She was able to get me in the next afternoon. What a delightful person! We had so much fun and wow can she cut hair. This is one of the best places to get your haircut in all of San Diego. I had been going to Concept Salon for my haircut for years and have never had a bad haircut. I completely trust the stylists here, I highly recommend Jenny or Ly. They are so professional and take their time with cutting your hair with great precision and never in a rush. Even when I moved away from the area, I would still go out of my way to make a trip to get my haircut here. The price for a haircut is very reasonable and includes a hair wash. In the current COVID environment, we have to be mindful of health and safety protocols. This place is absolutely doing every thing right and beyond--they adhere to a strict sanitization process and I felt completely safe and comfortable getting my haircut here. I usually go to my hairdresser in OC for my haircut and color. However, it was hard to get an appt with her due to the lockdown of her business. I came to see Concept Salon by chance when I was at Coffee Bean which is in the same lot. My hairdresser was Ly. As scared as I was to have someone new coloring and styling my hair at that time, I really had no choice. The grays were adamant to all come out. As you can see in the picture, Ly did an awesome job! Very bad first impression. I came in to get a haircut without an appointment because it says they take walk-ins. I walk in and go to the desk. I don't get greeted whatsoever. I stood there for a minute, realized they weren't going to help me and sat down. I probably waiting 4 minutes total until I got greeted. One of the hairstylists pointed my way and another one asked if she can help me. I asked when anyone was next available (there were two women sitting there on their phones, definitely hairstylists doing nothing). They told me 2:00 or 3:30. Hidden gem. I been struggling to find a great hairstylist and I have finally found one! Thanks Ly! Ly is a wonderful hairstylist. Even though she knows what she is doing, she will ask you and LISTEN to what you want. I really appreciate her feedback and taking her time to make sure everything was cut right. I feel horrible leaving a bad review since the stylist was so nice, but my haircut is simply not good. I went for a major change and asked to get a slightly above the shoulder bob(cutting off 10 inches), straight around with long layers and showed the reference picture. It was initially cut straight and what appeared to be leveled, but she just kept going in to "texturize" the bottom. It ended up so uneven and I just need to wait for it to grow before I can get it fixed since it's so short in the front. read more

Super-what? Yeah, I'm not going back to that place ever again. Hey, I was a student on a tighter budget back then! We all make mistakes ;p Ly was freakin' awesome and cut my hair exactly the way I wanted it to be cut. One inch trim? No problem. She didn't try to persuade me to cut more than an inch or sell me products. However, the stuff she used in my hair smelled pretty good, so I would have been tempted to buy if she did try to sell the products... I guess it's a good thing I'm too lazy to use styling products. I can count on one hand how many times I have walked out of a hair salon happy, and this is definitely one of those times! PS. I think they accept walk-ins, but they're pretty busy, so there's a chance you might not get a haircut if you just walk in. Better to make an appointment just to be safe! read more

Ly was amazing! Beautiful girl, REAL personality and actually wants her client to look and feel their best. I waited years without a hair cut or dye because of the 2 past places I went since I moved here. My hair was chopped off and I was convinced to do the ombré thing after I already had bleach damage.. fast forward to the present, Ly kept my length with some nice framing layers and went intense SHINY black like I wanted! I found out my normal hair stylist was not coming back to work after the mandatory quarantine here in San Diego so I needed to find a new, permanent hair stylist. Two days ago I checked Yelp searching for someone close to my new home, and for someone that had great ratings. I found Concept Salon. Ly (Lee) and I spoke for a few minutes and she squeezed me into her schedule (now that she is able to start seeing clients again). Ly colored, cut and styled my hair and it looks SO beautiful! She did such an amazing job... When I came home today from my appointment my husband absolutely loved what she did! Ly and I talked the whole time I was there -- she is so incredibly sweet, funny and engaging. It was great fun to talk to her while getting my hair done. I feel very grateful that I had this opportunity to get my hair done today -- on a Sunday (Ly came in on her day off for me since this coming week is going to be busy)!
