I had a balayage appointment here while my usual stylist was out of town. I came in with clear photo references (shared here, first picture is what I asked for, second is what I got). The stylist was kind during the appointment, but the result was much more of a full highlight rather than a balayage. It turned out way brighter and cooler-toned than what I had shown her, and there was no styling due to time constraints. When I politely mentioned that it wasn't quite what I asked for, I was told to come back later for a quick fix, which helped a little but wasn't the overall look I had hoped for. I'm not here to bash anyone - I just want to share my honest experience so others can be super specific and double-check the technique being used before starting. Years ago, I had one of the worst salon experiences ever when I was living outside of California. My hair was splotchy and fried, and when I was panicking on the prices I was getting on a repair quote, I thought I'd be stuck with it forever. I was lucky enough that when I moved back to OC five years ago, my best friend recommended me to go to Kendra, and I've been going to her ever since. Kendra not only fixed my hair, she explained why the original hair coloring did what it did, always let me know the best plan while still giving me options, and was (and still very much is) just a fun, sweet person to be around. Over the five years, I've done plenty of different styles with Kendra and all of them turned out exactly the way I asked, or better, and she's always conscious of my hair type and that it has to be styled differently. My amazing hairstylist, Amanda gave my hair a winter refresh with a deep dark semipermanent color and a pretty face flattering layer cut. I highly recommend her! They use Kevin Murphy products at this location and I really love them...no weird ingredients and they smell amazing, and work GREAT! This is the first time I have seen Amanda at this location and it's a pretty, immaculate salon with a big open room, adequate spacing between stations so you don't feel crowded, comfortable chairs, and modern elegant touches throughout (I really like their lighting!). Love to sip while you sit? They offer water, coffee and even wine (probably other things too, but those caught my attention lol)! The salon is basically on the hill behind Costco and is really easy to get too. You can access the strip mall via a signal light, so getting out is easy too. The strip mall looks a little rundown (plants are overgrown/mature, sidewalks are buckled in several places and the buildings are in need of paint), but it shows beautiful promise (love the Spanish architecture and courtyard fountain...it has a good vibe), and the surrounding big trees in the canyon behind the strip mall are quite pretty (Amanda informed me the view is spectacular out their back door). It is near a train track (across the street from the strip mall) where the freight trains pass through, but I never once heard them inside the salon. Hungry? There are a few places to eat too, but I never tried them so I can't attest to how good they are. read more

Kendra is phenomenal! I go to her to have her cut my hair and shape up my beard. She does great whether I want to grow my hair out longer and healthier or if I want to cut it short. !!LAUREN KURTZ IS FANTASTIC!! If you want hair extensions, I can't recommend Lauren Kurtz highly enough. I actually went to her to correct extensions that had not been put in correctly. After taking out the ones that had not been installed properly, she did a spectacular job of installing new ones. She is funny, intelligent and so kind! I had never had extensions, and usually have a hard time speaking up for myself when anyone does my hair because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
