As mentioned in my previous review, I regularly have my hair done, every 4 weeks with Mr. Lee. Today was the first time I tried a scalp treatment/'head spa' and will continue for four more treatments. Essentially, it is to remove any 'dead skin' from products and just natural 'gunk' that forms on our roots and scalp, and especially, to improve hair growth. Mr. Lee is always on top of the latest and greatest and never 'burdens' any of his clients to try any of the plethora of treatments he offers, if anything, I continually seek his expertise and advice! I personally love going to Korean hair salons. They are simply the best. It doesn't matter which one you go to, how they service clients is different than how an American salon services clients. However, some salons vary in quality of products. Salon Bona is superb. Very clean, modern, and are staffed by VERY talented artists. One of the biggest things I love about going to a Korean hair salon is the hair wash service, someone always services you with a bomb hair wash and massages your head very nicely. I don't know who he was but he was amazing, then I was serviced by One. He's amazing. I've been getting a trim/hair cut with layers for years (super simple right? Apparently not to most stylists. Usually they give me the bare minimum not taking into consideration of my face shape or hair type. How it falls, etc.) he however exceeded my expectations and did what I've always wanted. I'm seriously blown away by One's skills. He taught me how to make my hair create more volume on its own at the roots and layered my hair in a way that it just looks amazing. Today was my second time getting cut and color here (I'm from out of town so can't come often). Mr. Lee was as friendly as ever and his junior stylist (I didn't manage to get her name sorry) was very attentive with the follow up. I kept wanting to compliment her but got shy lol. I am still covering up a previous bleach job so I'm never sure how my hair will turn out, but each time I leave here I really like what they did to my hair. I was looking in Yelp for some hair salons, and I decided to give this one a try. As a first time customer, they take care of you really well. You get dressed in a robe and they noticed I haven't washed my hair yet (lol). Then I got my haircut, and my stylist (Eunjoo) really helped me out with what length and style i wanted. it's a quiet salon, kept neat and tidy, definitely a modern interior. This review is long overdue. My friend introduced me to Coco when my hair stylist moved elsewhere. My friend and I have completely different hair, so I wasn't sure how it was going to play out. It turns out Coco is an amazing hair stylist, and she is great with all hair types! She gives me great advice on what looks will work AND how to style my hair day-to-day, so it looks good even without professional help. I have been getting my haircut from Mr. Lee the owner of Salon Bona for the past 7 years in Torrance. Now that he opened his brand new amazing salon I must make the long journey to Fullerton. But let me say it is worth it and I will not go anywhere else. The new salon is so chic and clean. Brand new everything! Mr. and his staff are so talented and nice and the atmosphere is like a studio feeling which is great. Parking is easy and ample as it is in a huge plaza. I went with my whole family to Salon Bona. My mother-in-law made an appointment with my mother-in-law. She went to LA for Lucy for many years but now that she opened up shop in Fullerton, my MIL took me with her. I got a trim and wanted to change my hair color. I originally wanted to bleach it and color it violet but she recommended not to bleach because my hair is so thin, and damaged and it will really damage and kill my hair. She actually wouldn't do it for me as she was really looking out of for my own good and for my hair. If she wanted to make money off me for her business, she could have totally just done what I asked for since she could have made double for bleaching and coloring, but she went the safer route - coating it purple on my dark hair. It's darker indoors but in the sun, you can see the violet tint. I'm happy with how it turned out and my hair looks and feels more healthy. She trimmed off the damaged ends for me too. I'm not the type of person who keeps up with maintenance on my hair every few months like other ladies (I can't afford it and I just didn't feel it was necessary to spend money on my own upkeep for my appearance) but after my visit I think I'll be going back there to upkeep my hair more often than before. My husband brought my kids toward the end of my appointment and she touched up on my son (2 YO) and husband hair giving them a quick fade. My daughter got her first hair cut at 4 years old with Lucy! She was very nice to my kids and treated us really well. The other workers there (I didn't catch they name - but a tall guy and another girl) assisted her and they were very nice and professional. I did speak to them mainly in Korean. If you're looking for a good hair salon in OC/Fullerton area, go check them out. I heard she had her grand opening in August so it's new, nice interior, clean, and I am happy with her work. I will go back again! For the last couple of decades I've been strictly a barber guy, but through unexpected events, I ended up get my haircut from Coco some years ago, and since then, I haven't had a single bad haircut. Recently, Coco left her old salon and has started working at Salon Bona. I went to Salon Bona for the first time last week, and I was very impressed. The atmosphere was both professional, and inviting. I made an appointment to see when Coco, and as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by an employee who was very courteous. She advised Coco I had arrived, and within minutes my hair was washed and getting cut. I always appreciate it when an appointment is made, and the time agreed upon is honored. Places that overbook to jam in as many customers is just unprofessional in my opinion..be it a doctor's office or a hair salon. Points for Salon Bona on that. The rest went smooth as always. Coco, as she always does, gave me a great haircut. Enough so that I will not go anywhere else knowing I will be disappointed. I almost never write a review after the first visit --good or bad. I was lucky to get an appointment on the same day that I called with Coco. Being so accustomed to American hair salons, I was use to finding hair color left on my ear lobes, the top edges of my forehead and where side burns would be. Then having to rub them off with facial pads when I got home. Didn't have to do that today! Part of their prep prior to coloring my hair included wrapping my ears with plastic wrap and shielding the top half of my face with this plastic visor stuck to my forehead. I was given a pillow to prop up my arms while on my phone. When it was time to wash my hair, removing the color off my face, ears, scalp and hair were all interwoven into an amazing head and scalp massage! A warm-hot towel to the back of my neck at the end was the cherry on top. I felt pampered from start to finish. This great attention to detail is what will keep customers from coming back! I've been coming here for about six months to get a blow dry and style. The service has always been exceptional, polite, clean, and professional. Though today it was above and beyond, I had Jaewon "One" cut my hair and style it. He took his time to show me what he was going to do and made everything super comfortable bc I'm not one to cut alot off. I trusted him and so happy with the results. After my hair was ruined at another salon, Hair Designer Sue easily fixed my hair! She is so good at color correction and cutting hair--easily the best I've ever seen and had. I really loved how she cut my hair because it looked like it had a lot of volume. Before coloring my hair, Sue used a hair treatment, which made my hair so soft and voluminous.
