When I entered the shop, there was…read moreno one in the lobby to check in with so I hung around for about five minutes (I'd arrived about 10 minutes early, as the website says to do). There are Fiji water bottles in the lobby but no sign by them. I wasn't sure if they were included in the cost of the appointment or cost extra so I didn't take one. Maybe if I was bolder, I wouldve inquired. They sell a number of sugar scrubs and other products that you can use after your sugaring/waxing appointment at home. At 2:30pm, a technician came out with another customer who'd just finished and greeted me after closing out her appointment. I was definitely nervous but my technician put me at ease with light conversation and music (they let you choose what music you want when you schedule your appointment). I had initially made my appointment for sugaring but I was told that my hairs were too short and that wax would work better. I was a bit disappointed because I'd read about sugaring, but happy that my technician was able to provide good advice. It didn't hurt nearly as much as I expected it to. I was in and out in about 45 minutes with silky smooth legs.

When appointments ran behind, the front desk publicly blamed her in front of other customers, making me feel at fault for needing the accommodations I'd already documented. * Billing error: I was charged for a lower leg package I didn't purchase and clearly stated I didn't need. When I tried to get this corrected, staff refused to switch it to a full leg package (which is what I actually use). I now have 12 unused lower leg passes that I will never use. * Unprofessional interactions: I experienced rude and overly pushy behavior from front desk staff on multiple occasions. Ivania was professional, attentive, and made me feel valued and respected as a client. Without her, I have no reason to return. My hairstylist is Marcus, who is delightful, joyful and a TRUE professional. He has knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to do an individual's hair to perfection. He continuously attends conferences, workshops and seminars, etc. to keep his KSAs at the level of ten stars. While a customer at Salon Central I have seen him as a hairstylist to children, males and females and he has been outstanding in every aspect of the word. My hair was in the LORD HAVE MERCY and what happen to your hair (?) categories. Also, my hair was baby fingernail length and is is now a little below the shoulders. He has my hair soft, swinging with perfection and I can put it in a bun or a ponytail and it will come back with a curl. He is calm, knows how to trim, shampoo, style, and is a good confidant. Marcus loves what he is doing and it shows while you are in his chair. The salon is clean, the owner gave me a first time gift bag, Marcus gave me a free appointment when I recommended someone else, and he remembered my birthday with a gift. Everyone is soooo nice, kind and treats me with ten stars. The owner is outstanding, the owner recently remodeled Salon Central to look like the interior decoration of Elle Decor magazine; Roche-BoBois on Wisconsin Ave. and Jennifer St., NW Washington, DC or Bo Concepts at Tyson's Galleria, McLean, Va. Alex is outstanding as well, greets you with a wonderful greeting, smiles and is very courteous. The shampoo ladies (please forgive me I cannot remember their names) are outstanding as well and I like being around them as well, and every hair stylist has always been very cordial to me when I arrive and while at Salon Central. The customers are great as well. I enjoy being in everyone's presence. It is like everyone is on their personal vacation with you as a guest. I have never thought of Salon Central as expensive because our/my hair is very important, I have never been disappointed and I will continue to be a customer who knows when love is exhibited. This review is for my experience with Terrence Chan and my overall experience at Salon Central. Terrence has been my stylist since 2010 when he was at Beautiful Life salon in Rockville and Annandale. I've followed him all over the DC area because he gives great haircuts. He's a modest guy who is patient and meticulous, and very attentive to customer service. (see my other yelp review on him at Beautiful Life Salon, funny story). Also, he's still accessible (i.e. I don't have to wait 2 weeks to get a haircut from him). He recently moved a few months ago to Salon Central and so his prices have gone up two-fold but I still am willing to go because a good haircut for me is worth the price. He sent all of his customers a text message a while back telling us that he moved to a new salon, but I lost the message when I switched phones and couldn't remember where he went, so I just let my hair keep growing longer and longer until I couldn't take it anymore and I had to do some research. My cousin who introduced me to him actually couldn't find him either and eventually we found him on LinkedIn of all places and I immediately made an appointment. He told me that he didn't want to text his customers again because he didn't want to bother them. So I decided to spread the word in case anybody out there is searching for TERRENCE CHAN to find him on yelp. Overall, Salon central is well-run and clean. Robin, who shampooed my hair was very nice and the receptionist was knowledgeable and attentive. I was offered a drink several times. I am a brunette with an olive complexion, I've never been able to find someone to acheive an appropriate blonde or any other color for that matter. I started seeing Gretchen a few years ago and have had more fun playing with blondes and reds that go so well with my skin tone. She is a true artist when it comes to coloring and cutting. I came in one day and told her to surprise me with color and cut and have stuck with both for about 8-10 months, I loved it! She doesn't just give you what you want, she gives you what looks good on YOU. The staff at the salon is so sweet and the receptionists are very easy going when my schedule changes. Marcus is another glowing presence at the salon and always has a smile on his face. I can't tell you how many compliments I have gotten on my hair since I've been seeing Gretchen. I give out Salon Centrals number on a regular basis. Lastly, the ladies shampooing do a fantastic job and always listen when I say my hair tangles easily. This place is awesome and half the reason I never want to leave this area is because I couldn't handle not having them anymore, LOL. I would recommend them a thousand times over. read more

Kayla is just great! ... I'll start by saying that I've recommended Kayla to several of my friends. I look forward to seeing her every three weeks as much for the visit, as my haircut. Kayla has been cutting my hair for about 4 years. Previously, I moved around from stylist to stylist over several years before finding her. She by far has given me the most consistent haircut. You know your stylist is a keeper when your friends routinely compliment your haircut. Kayla takes her time, pays attention to the details of my hair growth issues, and I always walk out feeling great. She has advised me on various changes to my look that I have liked. She is highly competent and her skills have impressed me. Kayla has shepherded me through one coloring and has finally convinced me to embrace my graying hair, boosting my confidence with it. I have been going to Salon Central for several years - before there had gone to salons throughout the DC metro area, but I stick with Salon Central for several reasons; convenience, they are right next to Montgomery Mall and near my home in Potomac, the prices are on par if not more reasonable than with DC/Chevy Chase/Bethesda salons and most importantly the entire salon's level of professionalism AND warm, friendly atmosphere. I've even had to bring in my 15 month old in a child care bind and the stylists and assistants that weren't tending to other clients were so helpful - not that they're running a child care service by any means, but it's good to know you're not going to turned away if you have such a scheduling 'emergency'. I was at Salon Central a few weeks ago and thought the service was great, the staffs are friendly and the lady who cut my hair, Jill, did a great job. However, after just a week (two hair wash) after my visit to Salon Central, my hair became limp, dry and seems I've never went to hair salon at all. I remembered asking Jill how long would the deep conditioning for my hair wears off and she said about 3 weeks. I am very disappointed . They are very pricey too. read more

please dont waste your money. I went there while ago because Ira (who is the BEST) was working there until his new salon was finished and had a wonderful experience. However, i went back because Ira was unable to fit me into his schedule.I made the biggest mistake. The salon staff was rude and needless to say I received a horrible cut. She asked if I wanted my sideburns and neck cut, and I said yes. She proceeded to buzz my neck, which I couldn't really tell what she was doing. She then asked I if wanted sideburn in a line, i said no, assuming it meant blended into my beard. The back of my neck is shaved at 0 above 1 inch above my normal hairline, making it impossible to have a ponytail and not look ridiculous. 2 inches above My sideburns are shaved at 0 as well, cutting off 6 inches of previous growth. This is beyond a botch job. I feel violated. Words can't express how upset I am. While i give credit that they didn't charge me, it's malpractice to cut that much growth off without clarifying with the client what you're intending to do. Have never had my hair a 0 buzz and certainly will not be going back. WOuld not recommend to anyone ever!
