Casey was such a sweet treasure of a soul. She took the time to get to know me, my needs, my personal preference and she listened without judgment!! I have been struggling with hair loss for many years and I also have thin gray hair! I brought my own shampoo and conditioner, Casey was so respectful and fairly knowledgeable about the challenges of gray hair and hair loss. I really appreciated how open she was when I shared that I preferred non-toxic, products without harmful chemicals. She even inquired about the products I brought. I explained what I was looking for, and she was able to find a stylist who was available on the day I needed and give me a quote ahead of time that I was comfortable with. The whole process of setting up the appointment was easy and professional. When we arrived, I found street parking nearby. Some of the parking is metered, but there are also side streets where you can find non-metered parking. The salon itself was nice and clean. We were greeted right away by a super friendly and helpful gentleman, who I later realized was the owner! We were also offered something to drink, which was a nice touch. My girls were scheduled with Maggie, and she was wonderful. She was kind, professional, and most importantly, she knew how to work with curly hair. She trimmed both girls' hair and was also able to do the braided styles they wanted. She did an excellent job, and I was really happy with how their hair turned out. Instead of a balayage, I received partial highlights. At the time, I didn't realize that there was an issue with how my hair had been processed. It wasn't until I later went to another professional to have my hair worked on that they pointed out that portions of my hair had been improperly processed and were significantly overprocessed. Since my original appointment, I have experienced substantial breakage in multiple areas of my hair, including portions that have broken off considerably shorter than the rest. Daniela was very nice, and I want to be fair about that. She was kind and personable throughout my appointment, so this review is not about her as a person. My concern is specifically with the service and the condition of my hair afterward. I started with completely virgin hair and trusted the professional to safely achieve the color I requested, so the amount of damage and breakage has been especially disappointing. I also wanted to mention a separate concern regarding the salon's advertised promotion. When I initially reached out through Yelp to inquire about services and pricing, the salon presented me with a $100 off cut and color promotion. This was not something I found independently or assumed applied to my appointment -- it was specifically presented to me by the salon when I was inquiring about booking. I accepted the offer and was then scheduled by the receptionist. I was not given the option to choose a stylist or told that the promotion only applied to certain stylists. After my service, when I asked about the $100 promotion, I was told that it only applied to select stylists and that Daniela was not eligible. I understand that promotions can have restrictions, but I feel that should have been clearly communicated before the appointment, especially since the promotion was presented to me directly by the salon as part of my inquiry. I also noticed that the same promotion is still currently being advertised, which is why I feel it's important to mention. Ultimately, my biggest concern is the condition of my hair after the service. I understand that color services can involve some risk, and I also understand that I am not a professional and may not have known what to look for immediately after the appointment. However, after having another professional evaluate my hair, I was made aware that the processing had not been done correctly and that the resulting damage was significant. I had a lengthy consultation where we reviewed multiple inspiration photos and discussed adding…read moredepth and dimension while maintaining a dimensional bronde look with lighter ends. My hair had become brassy and I just wanted to add low lights and some dimension. I showed many, many photos to make it clear what I wanted. Unfortunately, the final result was drastically different from what I requested. Much of the interior and underside of my hair was colored a very dark brunette tone, creating a flat, heavy appearance rather than the dimensional look shown in the photos we reviewed. The ends of my hair look completely black, nothing like the photos I showed. The issue wasn't that my hair became darker overall. I expected more depth and lowlights. The issue was that much of the brightness and dimension was lost, particularly underneath, leaving large sections of the hair looking like one solid dark color. To Cynthia's credit, she did offer to adjust the color by adding highlights and ultimately provided a full refund when I explained that I was no longer comfortable proceeding with additional processing since my first request was so misunderstood and poorly executed. While I appreciate her efforts to make things right afterward, the final result did not reflect the look we spent significant time discussing beforehand. I'm honestly still devastated.
