3.5 stars. This is a transborder lounge catering for the international flights out of YUL. It does get quite congested during the afternoon 3-7 rush of the red-eye over the pond. There are great tarmac views along with a cooking station of hot foods (stay away from the poutine... yes I know this is Montreal but do yourself a favour, pass on it!). The smoked meat is not bad but not a fan of the toasted sammie. There is a coke dispenser along with bottled juice. We spent a couple hours here waiting for our flight to IAD. It was busy when we arrived around 11A and got busier by noon when most of the seating was occupied. Not all seats have access to an outlet for charging so we had to wait until one opened up. The food options were two soups, rice, beef and pasta dishes. There were guacamole plus three salad options in the refrigerated section. Bagels, bread, pitas and cookies rounded out the remaining food items. Compared to most United Clubs I've visited, Air Canada's Maple Leaf Lounge at YUL sets a higher bar. The vibe itself is similar, modern, minimalist. The food service however is far superior. Firstly, food orders can be delivered to your seat by scanning a QR: super convenient and safer. United does not have this service. Secondly, there is a food bar like United's with two different features that are user friendly: All food options are packaged and ready for a Togo bag in case you are on your way to catch a flight with minutes to spare. Super cool.Food provided is not your generic cheese cubes, crackers, wraps and Saran coated fruit. At this Maple Leaf Lounge You get warm/cold sandwiches, good salads, lemon bars, cakes, and other proteins. Will United ever get to this level of service for its customers? I do not know. But I do know that I've been served the same kind of food at United Club Lounges for over 10 years. It has not changed much (only the bread). So if I were in NY's EWR airport (like this last trip) where food options abound, I bring food into the United lounge and get free drinks and munchies. One less star. It's a nice chill lounge with neutral colours on the walls and vibrant red coloured chairs. It is spacious and has both tables and counter space. Like most lounges, it overlooks the airport taxiway. To reach the lounge, head right as you exited immigration/duty free shops. read more

The first and second time I was here in the lounge (this is the DOMESTIC one near gate 2), it was quiet and peaceful. The third time, it was a madhouse of screaming children that were out of control and their parents didn't care. WTF, folks? Like most non-American lounges, the booze is self-serve with a cooler of canned sodas. Food is decent, with a platter of hummus and toasted pita breads, veggies for dipping, salsa and chips and olives. Plus two different soups with fresh sliced baguettes for dipping. Great! Internet service is free and it worked well. Air Canada: Either your lounge attendant needs to tell parents to have their kids STFU or you should add a room for families. Spacious, well appointed, and stellar service make this one of the best airport lounges. To begin, the space is long and has plenty of varied seating--tables, comfy chairs, couches, little nooks to get some privacy. They also have all sorts of charging options, including charging "lockers" with cords so that you can leave your phone while you sleep or eat. The star of the place is probably the full buffet with a station where you can pick your ingredients and someone will stir fry them for you, two kinds of gourmet mac and cheese, a few meat and stew options, salads, dessert, all manner of coffee and wine and a full bar. It also has newspapers, a wide array of magazines in English and French, and showers (if you are staying that long). The staff is incredibly hard working and efficient. Getting into the lounge was super easy, all they do is scan the boarding pass and you're on your way in. I have been in many airport lounges throughout my travels and this one was underwhelming. (The lounge is for Canada to USA Flights, not the International one). The food selection was not the best. I had a chocolate chip cookie though. The refreshments were good. I had a nice port wine before my flight to relax. The seating was decent with some large chairs. The bathrooms were also clean. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit the lounge, but having an airport lounge to relax and in get free WiFi is always a perk. Additionally, the beverage selection was good. read more

There are three Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges at Montreal Trudeau Airport (Domestic, Trans-border and International). This review is for the Air Canada Maple Leaf Trans-border Lounge located airside near gate 75. Open to Star Alliance premium class passengers, Star Alliance Gold card holders and Maple Leaf Club members, the Air Canada Maple Leaf Trans-border Lounge is small but offers a decent place to eat, relax and be productive before your flight. Because these flights arrive into the United States as domestic flights, you must clear through US Customs and Immigration control in order to access the trans-border gates. The lounge is open from 5:00 AM to 7:30 PM daily. Priority Pass members can only access the National Bank World Lounge located near gate 52 of the international departures area if you are traveling internationally. And because this is the only Star Alliance Lounge in the trans-border area, it can get crowded, loud and busy at peak times. Like I said earlier, this is a small lounge but it's actually very clean, beautiful and modern. The focal point of the lounge is this beautiful open-ended fireplace located in the center of the lounge. There is one wall of windows that allows a ton of natural light in. It's bright, airy and has views of the boarding gates. There is no separate area for first class passengers but I don't think there are any flights with first class cabins departing from the trans-border gates. The lounge is long and narrow and the seating area is mainly along the windows facing the boarding gates. There are a variety of seating options but none of them include loungers, recliners or anything that you could sleep on. There is a small work area with individual cubicles if you need to stay productive. WiFi was provided throughout the lounge and there are plenty of power outlets to keep your devices charged. There's a food station with a pretty decent offering of soups, salads (kale, pasta, quinoa, etc.), fruits, cheese/crackers, cookies and pastries. There's also a fridge with beers and juices, soda fountain, coffee/cappuccino machine and a self-serve bar with a sizable selection of alcohol. Flight information boards were displayed in the front of the lounge and you had to monitor them yourselves because they did not make any gate or boarding announcements. Other amenities included printers, PC workstations, newspaper and magazines. There were no shower rooms here. The lounge was kept clean and there were employees constantly cleaning, busing dishes and refilling the food counter. Overall, this lounge was pretty nice. It was small and crowded but definitely better than the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge at CDG or any domestic US based airline lounge that I have ever visited. read more

The food offerings vary in quality, but are much better than anything you'll find in a US-based carrier's airline lounges. Surprisingly good was the Canadian pea and bacon soup, which had a nice little kick to it! Of course, the most important difference between airline lounges to the north and south of the border - complimentary alcoholic beverages, all self-serve. Vive la difference! If you're a Star Alliance Gold member, you have free access to this lounge and it's worth visiting. Is it worth purchasing a day pass? I went to the Lounge on the American side of Dorval. Not only was I amused that the beer taps served Guinness and Coors Light, I was not amused that the taps didn't open until 11am on a Monday. But the rating is relative to the other airline lounges I've been in. I didn't see shower options and the continental breakfast offerings were meager. I couldn't hear flight announcements which can be a bad thing. The gate information is also in an inconvenient location opposite opposite of where you come in. I'm not sure why anyone should pay a 30 dollar entry fee much less a 45 dollar one depending on your ticket fare. read more

Before boarding our short flight to Toronto, we visited the Air Canada Maple Leaf lounge. The lounge had clearly marked signs, which was easy to spot. The lounge is rather spacious and was relatively empty when we got there. There are several different seating areas with relatively comfortable chairs, as well as a high top work table with outlets. There were all types of breakfast foods laid out including muffins, bread, pastries, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cheese, and fruit. The restroom is large and well maintained. They do have shower facilities, however I did not get a chance to take a peek since I was only in the lounge for a short period of time. I adore the Maple Leaf Lounge: hot soup (or oatmeal for those zero dark stupid flights), other tasty treats, comfy leather chairs, free wi-fi, quiet, looking at planes and free pouring the booze of my choice...what's not to love? Almost makes me glad to not have a life and instead spend my time travelling for work. Unlike most of the reviewers, I do not pay for lounge access given that I have airline status, so I am not as cranky about noise (there are designated business areas where there are no kids, cell phones or people watching Youtube videos sans earphones)...just walk around the corner and you'll see this area. The MLL is not as nice as the Star Alliances lounges in Europe or Asia, but for North America, it's the best we've got! read more

Breakfast includes only greasy US style foods: fried eggs, terrible sausages and hash browns. Where is that French European spirit? No USB charging ports, few AC outlets, no quiet areas and dirty bathrooms add to the overall very poor standard of this lounge. I love this quiet lounge. I was only able to stay here for a little it but I ended up staying for a long time due to flight delay. This lounge is quiet and peaceful. I sat by the window and watched the snow outside. It was pretty and relaxed. They do offer a variety of food and alcohol. The environment is comfortable. All of the lounges in Canada are ok. I love the fact that you can grab a few free magazines, a free drink and a nice at your own disposal. I would like to say however, as a Star Alliance Elite member, that there are so many better lounges across Europe that offer better food. This year the Maple Leaf Lounge added hummus and pita, which is nice but still relatively cheap to make (or to plate, as I am sure its all pre-made anyways). In the end this is the only place where you can have a snack, and a drink for free so I guess you can really complain now can you. If you have a pass to go in, make sure you do, if you don't find someone that does its great to kill some time. I would also add that they have decent wines, so if you like wine tasting the ones they have on hand is always a good idea. read more

My partner and I were mesmerized by the gorgeous new and modern yet cozy interior design at the international maple leaf lounge. We were pleasantly surprised to see quite an extensive layout of scrumptious hot and cold dishes at the dinner buffet including on the spot stir fried noodles. The chef Sinan was very fast, friendly, and a great cook. He even garnished the plate and gave it to us with both hands which is very respectful. Afterwards we enjoyed a delectable chocolate mousse and a fresh fruit cup served in a shot glass. There is also a bar there, although that did not appeal to us because we do not drink. The clean up was really efficient too ie by the time we returned from the buffet with our second helping our dishes had been taken away. I'm a server and I was impressed by the efficient bussing and service quality. Overall, wonderful experience. read more

Truly pitiful. This review is for the TRANSBORDER lounge (I.e. going to the USA) which is the pitiful step brother to the apparently amazing international lounge. No chef-made dinner or bartender. The food when I was there was pasta, potato salad, quinoa and chocolate chip cookies. Zero protein, all greasy carbs. They did have self serve alcohol and the lounge itself was quiet when I went but just don't expect to get dinner or be wowed by the interior design. The AC domestic lounge is relatively small for such a large airport so it's always busy. Food is a cut above other airline lounges and there's lots of comfortable seats.
