Customer service: 4.2 Price for Men's H/C: 4.7 ($15+) I could easily leave 5.0 for service and price but that wouldn't be fair even though I've been coming here for more than 15 years. I use to keep my stylist in Fremont but my neighbor turned me on to this place and I never looked back. Typically you walk in and get greeted unless they're all busy, but they have a sign-in sheet which helps them keep on track with customers waiting. Also just note the person/stylist,if you have a favorite, on the sheet. Most people just walk-in so don't be surprised if you wait; so if you are under a time constraint then ask how long the wait will be (common sense). I've been coming so long; but still follow the rules by signing in and wait. But when it's my turn, I just sit in the chair and shoot the bull with Simon while he cuts my hair, then pay and off I go! And as for the price in comparison to what other barber shops charge these days ($40++), this place is super reasonable! BTW, I've had the other stylists cut my hair when Simon has been on vacation. I've gotten a haircut (all just high fades) here a total of three times with three different barbers / stylists at each visit. Admittedly, my standards aren't that high: if I don't need to correct a mistake with my clippers when I get home, I'm happy. I haven't had to do that with these guys yet; they took their time to inspect the cut after finishing and corrected things if needed. Give them a try, you may find that they are better than most of the more expensive places around Elk Grove. Long time customer, but they lost me as a customer today. Have always seen V, and didn't mind the wait, however, today I waited for 40 minutes for either V or the Asian guy with long hair to become available and it was a waste of my time. I called ahead and was told to come in. I did just that and I signed in on the clip board when I got there. A lady came in for haircut and highlights signed in after me. When the Asian guy was done with the customer, he looked over at the lady that came in after me and asked if she was ready. I stood up and said I was next in line and came in before she did. He looked at me and said she called ahead, and I said so did I. He shrugged and resumed to work on her as she sat on the chair. I get it. The Asian guy served the lady first because there is more money in women's hair cut and highlights compared to a man's haircut. I don't get it that we Asians (I'm also Asian) always put other races first and expect fellow Asians to yield. This isn't how you do business. After having to cut my own hair during the covid season I was ready to go back to a barber but notice I lot of shops raised their prices to make up for loss income, including the likes of Supercuts and Great Clips. So I was happy to find this place that still had reasonable prices for men's haircuts. I called to check price and they were spot on. Was also told no wait so when I arrived 20 minutes later, there was not wait and just sat in the barbers chair right after walking in. The gentleman that cut my hair asked me what I wanted and did just that quickly. I suppose it would have encouraged me to give 5 stars if he took his time and checked for details, but apparently he knew what he was doing and I wasn't asking for a complex cut (mostly shaved fade). I have been using this salon for my haircuts over the last ten years. The prices always been affordable and the hair cuts were ok. Just OK to shorten your hair and wait til it grows until next time. There barbers and stylists were giving an acceptable services for the prices they charged but with no or Zero Consistency. It is as if you are to get a different haircut every time you go there. Unfortunately ever since those couple ladies who were giving the acceptable haircuts are gone, the service has terribly gone down. Simone and Lee are supposed to be the stars of this place. I came here and I informed Lee that I need a good haircut because I am Traveling and attending a formal party. I also offered him upfront that I will pay double what he charges and a good tip. He took the challenge and forced me into coloring my hair. Unfortunately I accepted. The total came to $95 with tip I paid $110. Lee used a lot of spray to shape my hair into something presentable until I got home and washed my hair and I discovered countless flaws. Too many uneven spots and too many spots that color was unevenly or mismatching. The next day I went back the the shop was closed. I attempted that day two more times, still the shop was closed with angry customers outside. Finally the following the I found the place open. Lee was not present, so Simone took a look and offered to fix. The fix some what improved the color situation but touch ups to fix the uneven cuts by Lee further damaged my hair. I have plenty of healthy hair on my head and as I am aging, I am becoming more and more picky about my haircut and hairstyle. The end result, I am terribly disappointed. While I was at the shop the second time, I asked Simon how come the were closed the day before? He said because of Covid people doesn't want to work. I told him about angry customer and told him to post a sign outside that says what days you're closed some people come and don't wait assuming you're on lunch or you're about to open. Anyways, the haircut and color job I got is not worth $110, it doesn't even worth $10. Now I had to wait months for my hair to grow so I can get it fixed. If you take pride in your profession, don't ever let a customer leave unhappy!!! read more

My bf got a haircut here 30 minutes ago because he read good reviews and needed a quick haircut close by for a family event tomorrow. He got his hair cut by some old lady, who I am not sure why is working there. She f up his hair like her hand isn't stable and it's all zig zag, fade is horrendous, it's fucking bad. Trust me. Yes, it's $10, yes, that's cheap, but come on, people might think, "oh it's only $10" but ain't nobody working hard out here to give up $10 for a more than amateur haircut!!! Wtf!! I am by no means a barber or whatever, but I cut my bf hair when he doesn't have time to schedule one and I do a better job than what he received today. Vi takes care of me every time I come here. I've consistently gone here for almost a year and I always ask for her to cut my hair. She's really sweet and really good at cutting hair. She takes care of her clients and listens to how they want their hair done. I've also watched her cut other people's hair and she definitely doesn't rush and takes her time. Vi also does waxing and she touches up my eyebrows whenever I need them cleaned up. I've gone to 4 different stylist (Lee, Simon, Vee, and can't remember the last lady's name thay just cut my hair) , and all four do a great job on fades for $13 (tip not included). 5 stars * Was with a female friend on 2 occasions, and cuts for women costs more, for essentially the same haircut/trims. Was simply told that women's hair was more difficult. Ummm... ok. One of the women I brought simply got a trim to even out the bottom of her hair and get rid of her split ends... took off about 1.5/2 inches... was in the chair half the time I was and was charged more. 2 stars * Mask rules are not enforced AT ALL... so all anti maskers should be comfortable here. If you're on the other camp, go elsewhere. Don't care either way, but don't have signs up about masks being mandatory, then not enforce it. Just take the signs down. 1 star. So, my son wanted to get a haircut because his hair was too long. I saw that this place had good reviews, so we went there. Big mistake. First all, the people working there DID NOT know how to speak English. I didn't understand a word they were saying. Once my son sat down, the lady asked him what kind of haircut he wanted. My son said he wanted a fade. She didn't understand, so he showed her a picture. The pictures that he showed her is the top is long, and the bottom is short Then, she knew what my son wanted. She asked my son questions, and he answered confused. She asked him if he wanted a number 3 on the top. My son said ok. Once she started, it literally only took her 5 seconds to shave 4/5 of the length of the original hair my son had. This was NOT number 3. The top is about half an inch, and the bottom is literally like bald. This is definitely what my son did NOT want. He is so disappointed, and he wonders what his friends will think. I really like a guy who works here named Simon. He does a GREAT job with my very long hair. He takes his time and it always looks nice. They charge extra for long hair but it's only $12 as opposed to the regular $8 for men and kids. Very affordable. With my husband and kids, the other people need a bit more direction. They are always telling me I should let me son grow his hair out and I just have to be pushy and say no then they'll cut it right. But it's FAST, we all usually look pretty good after, and our WHOLE family can get haircuts for $36 total, way less than I would pay for just myself at a fancy salon. Also, there's a charge to use the ATM so if you don't want to pay it, bring cash. I like to have cash to tip the people anyhow. read more
