This was me before I started going to Salon Gabriel Anthony. I honestly was scared of finding a new hair stylist; even know I was not happy with my old stylist. I have been to Salon Gabriel Anthony 3 times in the last 6 months and have never felt more beautiful and confident. He has in incredible eye for color and what works best with my skin tones. The brand of color he uses is Goldwell and has not damaged my hair. I no longer have split ends. My hair is now rich in color and healthy. Usually 5 weeks after getting my hair done, my hair has lost all of it shape and the ends are completely fried. I have never received so many compliments on the color and shape of my hair. I came to see Gabe with blue black hair that had been dyed once to try and lighten it by someone else. The highlights were a terrible orange color and did not look natural in any way. I showed Gabe a picture and he told me that we can achieve this desired result in a few sessions because my hair had so much black color on it that so as to not damage the hair. I was very pleased with my color and received so many compliments! My hair also felt really healthy and looked amazing. I would definitely recommend seeing Gabe as he knows color very well and can give you exactly what you are looking for. I've been to a few really good hairstylists in OC (and a few not so good) but I've been looking for a stylist close to the Orange Circle since I spend so much time in that area. And I found him. Gabriel Anthony is a fantastic hairstylist/colorist and a really nice guy as well. I've been to his salon a few times now, including an appointment for a Functional Keratin Hair Taming treatment which is something like a "Brazilian Blowout" but without the formaldehyde. It worked like magic and my once-frizzy hair is now, indeed, tamed. His price is also about $100 cheaper than what I've seen at other salons. Gabriel's pricing for cut and color ($115 for both) is also very reasonable and he uses my favorite coloring and hair styling product - Goldwell. Needless to say, my hair looks a hundred times better when I leave the salon. In fact, my toddler barely recognizes me when I come home (which I suppose says a lot about how I normally style my hair...yikes!). Gabriel's salon is small but very modern and clean and there is always good music playing. It's a very relaxing environment, which I really appreciate. Gabriel is getting busier and busier (which made me almost not want to write this review!) so you'll probably need to call a few weeks out before an appointment. However, there are a few other hairstylists there as well if he is booked. Actually, maybe you should just call for them instead since I don't want any problems getting an appointment with Gabriel in the future! read more

Considering the only reason I joined Yelp was to review this salon, I figure what better place to start than here. I've been going to Gabriel since before he opened his own salon. That being said, he is AMAZING. We attended cosmetology school together, and he is the ONLY person I trust to do my hair. He is constantly going to classes to further his education, and I really feel like it can only get better from here. The salon is very modern, very clean lines and the music is never too loud. This isn't one of those pretentious salons that most women feel uncomfortable going to. When I'm there, everyone is extremely nice and I never feel like I'm being judged. I know some salons are like that, where you feel like its a constant fashion show and the women are talking bad about you, but not here. Quick & Dirty: A great haircut, reasonably priced, near the plaza in Orange. Long & Cut: At Salon Gabriel Anthony you get your hair cut by the actual Gabriel Anthony, and he's a pretty cool guy. One thing you'll notice right off the bat is that the guy likes to talk and make you feel welcome. He has some pretty funny stories that's for sure. I've been to get my hair cut here a couple of times now and the first time he described (in detail) what kind of cut I needed. You can tell that he has a lot of experience and is good at what he does. The price of the cut is around $30 and that's completely worth it considering it's an above average cut. It's been a while since I went, but I remember it being a smaller salon with out too many patrons, maybe I just went at an odd time. I've always only had my sister as my hairstylist since she's amazing like that, but since I recently had her cut me some bangs for the new year that had already grown out and the fact that she lives in MN, I really needed to find a local pro for my hair woes. I found Gabe through Yelp since I live down the street and decided I'd nervously make an appointment. Gabe got me in quickly as I wanted to get in before the weekend. I arrived this morning pretty nervous since no one else has ever touched my hair, but Gabe was so nice and made me really comfortable with my hair in his hands. He's really an expert at what he does and it shows. He fixed up my bangs and gave me extra layers as well as awesome tips on how to style my hair and keep it looking awesome. I'm an actor so I'm extremely vein and obsessed with my appearance. I first got my haircut by Gabriel Anthony a few years back. I walked up to his salon. The door was locked. He saw me outside and opened the door. Despite being closed, he let me in, personally cut my hair, and gave me a student discount on top of it all. I've been coming to him ever since. He always does a fantastic job. Better than anyone else I've been to. And I've been to some high-scale places. At the time I had an A line bob that I wasn't quite happy with and the guy I had gone to originally claimed to be a pro at those type of cuts. He wasn't and I was regretting the decision I made when I cut my hair so short. But then I walked into Salon Gabriel Anthony and Gabriel explained that my cut was asymmetrical and required specific training which he had. I loved my hair when I walked out and got so many compliments. It's been 3-4 years now and although I don't sport the same style Gabriel remains my go-to guy and I'm impressed at how he continually stays in-the-know with all the latest techniques. I have been asking for chocolate brown my entire adult life and have always been dissapointed with the results...until a few months ago when I booked an appointment @ Salon Gabriel Anthony. I came in with a mess of red highlights I had not been able to get rid of for nearly a year and Gabe transformed my hair into a soft brown with beautiful complimenting highlights! I found Salon Gabriel Anthony thru the Goldwell Salon finder. I was hunting for a salon that uses Goldwell color. Believe me it makes a huge difference in the color and texture of your hair. Including giving your hair a wonderful shine with the Goldwell toner. So Gabriel colored and cut my hair. He did a wonderful job on picking the right brown . Explaining cool colors & warm colors etc. He listened to what I wanted and the color was perfect. My hair cut was also exactly what I wanted . I am on my second visit and requested a slight change on my side bangs. When I styled myself it was effortless. This is also what I wanted. I am a student at Chapman University and whenever I need a haircut, I know exactly where to go. Gabriel's salon has a delightful atmosphere which lets you know that this guy really takes pride in what he is doing. He also has a charismatic personality, we always get carried away during my haircut talking about something new. I went to Gabriel about five or six months back in need of a good haircut. He was very personable and seemed to really know what he was talking about. I had him color and cut my hair and pretty much gave him the freedom to do whatever we wanted with it. I thought the end result was great. He took into consideration my face shape and the thinness of my hair and really helped my hair get back to feeling healthy again. He even offered suggestions for ways to keep it looking great and feeling good for months afterwards. Had my hair cut yesterday by Gabe, and I am thrilled with it. I have very fine, straight hair, and not a ton of it, so it's surprisingly difficult to find a stylist who knows how to give me a cut that doesn't make my hair look sparse at the ends. I didn't even have to tell Gabe this - he could tell by looking at my hair what had been messed up previously, and how to fix it. My hair looks fantastic, he didn't push any products on me, didn't condescend to me for the fact that I simply don't style my hair and therefore needed a wash-and-go cut, AND - this is a biggie - he didn't insist on covering up my gray. He's great to talk to, the salon is perfect in that it's very clean and chic while still being cozy and intimate, as opposed to ominous and pretentious as so many salons tend to be.
