I found Karen on the internet after searching for almost 2 weeks. I talked with her on the phone and got a good impression. Her 30 minute consult was perfect for me to know I wanted to go with her. The reason for the long search is because I have difficult hair. I have thick, curly, dark hair (middle eastern in origin) that had been dyed darker than it's real color. It was up to my waist and I was looking for a change. I found incredibly difficult styles that I took with myself and hoped Karen could do it. She made me feel very comfortable at the consult and offered all sorts of compliments and praises too :). The style I was looking for was very short, very layered and with highlights. She told me about Ombres, so that's what I decided to go with. I asked what it would cost and how long. It was very reasonably priced at $117-127 and 2.5 hours of work. I returned a couple days later for the "transformation". I was excited, very curious, but nervous. FIVE hours later and with very wonderful conversation and two sets of bleaches (the color turned red the first time), and 4 sets of shampooing and conditioning, it came out looking fantastic. I love the compliments I am receiving. The front of my hair was a tad shorter than I expteted, but she explained that with my naturally curly hair, this was a better cut. She even gave me the first time customer $10 off and the whole thing came to $122! Very reasonable service and well worth it. I really appreciated that her salon was in the privacy of her home. I actually found Karen's Salon from a pop up on Yelp as I was writing another review. As it turned out, her salon is about a mile away from my house, so I gave her a call and made an appointment. From the moment I walked in the door, Karen was cheerful, upbeat and friendly. Her salon is so quaint and comfortable, that you feel right at home immediately. Karen got straight to work on my hair, talking to me about what I wanted, and was confident that she would not disappoint. She was right. Karen was able to have fun, intriguing conversation, and still keep her focus on my hair (this is important to me because my last hair cut, at another salon, took forever because the stylist couldn't talk and cut). She asked questions as she was going, to make sure she was giving me what I was looking for. And by the time she was done, I felt as though Karen was an old friend, and honestly wanted to hug her when I left. Wonderful experience! Very clean And elegant Salon. My first time going to Karens was today and I walked out with exactly whAt I wanted my hair was beautiful she explained everything to me on what she was doing to my hair. Very friendly person easy to talk to my experience was more then great. Just as her price were great also your first time you get a free wax!! What more can you ask for!?! I have been going to higher-end salons for years (Coupe Rokei, Aveda - Ballard and others). I needed a quick cut and could not get into my regular salon for a week. I found Karen on the internet.. she lived close and was willing to open a little early to get me in her schedule. Her technique is excellent, and she really listens to her clients -- what you want and need -- and then makes suggestions. I recently moved to Bothell/Mill Creek and found Karen on a YELP review. I have very fine, very thin hair and have been very particular about hair stylists. I can state with all truthfulness that Karen cut my hair better than any other, ever. She found and used the natural curl in my hair to fashion a cut that is perfect for my face, looks very feminine and requires a minimum amount of fiddling around with it.
