They were my special treat growing up where they helped me through my different hair phases and for all of my special occasions. They're now my "treat myself" luxury as an adult and even after I moved, I kept driving about an hour and a half (one way, about 3 hours round trip) to get my hair done. They always made it right when things went wrong and I stuck by them, even when they remodeled and made my "relaxation time" public to the rest of the salon (nobody likes being placed in a lobby/"social room" with foils on their head to be gawked at. I recently decided that after a couple bad encounters with the salon that I'm done getting my hair done by them. Caught in traffic? They have a 15 min policy where they cancel your service, which kinda sucks when you drive over an hour and get stuck in traffic. The girl I've been seeing there for almost 3 years also left and I was never notified and they wouldn't tell me if she went to another salon. The cherry on top was when I requested to know the color they have on file for me and they refused to tell me. Evryone's time is valuable and I understand that they don't want competition, but my money and time is also valuable and I can't keep driving an hour and a half to get my hair done with the threat of having my appointment suddenly cancelled. I'm also loyal to the service rather than the provider, so being set up with someone else that doesn't know my hair or allergies is also a pain. I've already decided I'm not returning whether or not they give me my color, so for the health of my own hair it would have been nice to know what they were putting on me. So, I'll end with, it's up to you whether or not you visit this salon. I've had good and bad experiences and it's been totally dependent on who is providing the service to me. Understand that you can invest all the time and money in the world to them, but just like most businesses they still won't care.

Basically, everything mentioned in that original review still stands. I have continually been going back to Jennifer for all of my cuts and trims. She is always so friendly and I've really built a good rapport with her! She always makes my hair look great - seriously. It's almost embarrassing to admit, but after every cut people are constantly complimenting me and asking me about my hair: Which makes me wonder if I should be a little more proactive in styling my hair on a daily basis since it's constantly a mess without Jennifer...anyway, Her prices are now $30 for students (vs. the $25 from the original review 6 months ago), but I'm still not complaining! Still cheaper than some of the other places I used to go where it was $50 (Kenneth, Nurtur, etc.). She cuts men's hair as well, and I am thinking about making my boyfriend try it out as well. She told me at my last visit that she puts a hot towel on them after the cut since most guys complain that they are itchy. She said most of them rave about it since guys are not used to pampering. A male friend of a friend of mine also goes to Jennifer (which was coincidental! Small world!) and he said the hot towel is his favorite part, haha. I also just recently found out she does brow waxes as well. I haven't gotten a wax or anything beyond a cut from Jennifer yet, but I would imagine it would turn out just as wonderful as all of her cuts and styles!

Given the multi-locations and multi-techs it took awhile to book a time that suited me. I did think they are overpriced compared to other nail salons. I had a very pleasant experience in person. I walked in and checked in on the tablet, making it very easy. I used the restroom and saw a coffee/cocktail bar that surprised me a bit. I did get a glass of water at the self-serve desk by the entrance. I sat in a comfortable chair and when my tech was ready, I was seated at her station. Great pedi and I liked Selma who wasn't pressured to make conversation. I'm good with quiet. She put me at a different seat to use the nail dryer. My toes look great. After the pedi and as I was being moved, I accidently knocked my water glass off the side of the chair. It broke and made a mess. They didn't yell at me. I felt bad, but someone quickly arrived with a broom and dustpan. At the check out desk, I was informed I got 25% off as it was my first visit. Yay! I used my giftcard and have $ leftover. They expect cash tips so I put $ in an envelope for Selma. It is a very pretty salon and I would recommend it for a first timer.

I was originally scheduled with Kat, but because she was sick she wasn't in on the day I was scheduled, and that's okay I'm usually flexible. So someone called me the day before asking if I wanted to 'reschedule with Kat or if I wanted to still do it today there's another stylist who is very experienced, is on the same level as Kat, and will do a really good job' so I said sure I can switch. I go in to my session yesterday and show her the same pictures I had sent Kat. The girl said in order to get the color i want we would need to lighten my hair and then tone it. So I said okay. About a quarter way through her lightening my hair I asked if it was a dye. She said it was bleach. I didn't know lightening hair was bleaching, but it makes sense and that's my fault for not clarifying. I figured she knew what she was doing so I continued on with it and didn't say anything. After like 4 hours we washed the bleach out and she put a toner in and my hair ended up being an orange/yellow. I was going for the complete opposite of that, like an ash brown kind of color. I couldn't even say anything about how much I didn't like it because I was there all day and just wanted to leave and didn't feel good about my hair. I go home. I look her up on Instagram and I find out she's an apprentice. I understand people need to practice and learn but I really wish whoever scheduled me would've been honest about the level she is on. The next morning I call back because I just can't walk around looking how I looked, especially since I am going to a wedding. I get it retoned by the same girl and yes it's better, but it still is not even close to what I was going for. Instead it's a little bit more closer to my original hair color just slightly darker. I feel like my hair is ruined from the bleach. It's so brittle. And I honestly feel like I could've done the exact same thing with a box dye from Walgreens and spent $15 rather than $245. I wish my hairstylist would have told me it would take multiple sessions to get to my color goal or just say she didn't know how to. Not giving 1 star because she at least was willing to try and fix it. And it's my own fault for not knowing she was going to bleach my hair. She was really sweet and I just feel bad that I didn't like it. I really wanted to.

You can tell that Abi loves what she does for a living; she keeps up on continuing education, attends hair shows and often participates as a stylist for the biggest creative and fashion events in Columbus. Copper and Ash has implemented COVID-19 safety protocols and each time I have been to salon all stylists and customers are following the rules. I feel safe coming to the salon.
