Laina Hicks is racist. She AGGRESSIVELY defended her white stylist who was not familiar with simply straightening ethnic hair, and who damaged my hair on Valentine's day, leaving it frizzy and wavy still. I tipped anyway because that is the polite thing to do. Lanay grabbed my hair angrily as she spoke down to me, accused me of putting her stylist down when all I said I have had my hair done in this conditon and it turned out done well when she kept asking me when the last time I got my hair cut was, and when I kept telling her I don't remember. She then pulled down on my hair while talking to me in an angry way, and I got up because I was shocked. She then turned around and acted like the victim, and like I was threatening her, while grabbing my arms, trying to knock my phone out of my hands so I couldn't record everything, Laina manhandled me out of her store. There are bruises on my arm where she grabbed me. She then continued to act like the victim and told her staff to call 911. Her prejudiced perception motivated her to blatantly lie to the police officers about what I had had done. The police told me that Laina said I was charging towards her with a hot cup of tea, when before she manhandled me, I put my cup down which was only warm, in order to try to get my phone to video record and protect myself. I called the police immediately and sat inside my car on the other side of the parking lot and waited for them to arrive. Another employee came out to refund me after they had to convince Laina to refund me WHICH THEY LIED ABOUT, THEY DID NOT REFUND ME!!!! This all happened the day after my bad styling. Prior to the incident I came back to get it retouched because over the phone Laina admitted that she saw the hair was done improperly, and she said she "didn't want to intervene", so that was more important for her than me getting a decent drying and straightening that I paid for. She also purposely butchered my unique name. This is the only footage I was able to get. You can see her trying to knock the phone out of my hand for a second time in the video I posted on their Yelp page. She also grabbed my phone very aggressively. I'm surprised the screen isn't damaged. I will be filing a police report for the assault. A salon in the same parking lot saved my hair and made it look fabulous even with all of the damage lanay's stylist caused!!! read more

I have been going to Laina for years and followed her over to Salon Maxx. She is a wonder with the hair, making suggestions and doing amazing things to revitalize my hair and always leaves looking great. If you want highlights to match your natural hair, she can do it. I've seen her do wonderful color jobs on others as well. I have getting therapeutic massages from Dennis for over 5 years. It has been good medicine for my muscle problems. He now has a wonderful massage room to work in. I have recommended both Dennis and Laina to family and friends and will continue to do so. Though I am not a person to have my nails done, after watching Mai and the others work, I'm thinking about a pedicure. This salon is clean, inviting, welcoming and calm. Everyone that works there has been very nice. Mai has a way with plants and they really provide a wonderful elegance to the salon. You will be glad you gave them a try. read more

Don't know what the last two reviewers saw but this place is amazing! I took my girlfriend here to treat her and she had her nails done by Mai, the owner. Mai was very friendly and helpful and kept you smiling and laughing. She did tell me off a story that the previous day she had to kick a rude client out because the client was complaining and yelling and letting her 3 year old son run to a candy jar they had and almost knocked it over while trying to get a piece and when Mai helped him get one and asked his mother but she screamed at Mai. I am guessing it is the review from May 9 above as I took my girlfriend there on May 10th. The prices are moderate and they have a 20% Grand Opening special right now so that is great. Ladies that work there are very clean and efficent and great at what they do. Made my girlfriend even more beautiful and I thought that wasn't even possible. read more

I have had my hair done by both Laina and Elisa. They are both amazing. Very professional and do exactly what is requested. I highly recommend them both and I know you will no be disappointed. Trang has been doing my nails for quite some time now. She is wonderful and her workmanship is amazing. I never have any issue with my nails or toes. i have been going to mai for about ten years now and i will never go anywhere else for my nails or pedicures!!! there have been times when i need to go an extra week before getting a fill and my nails still looked like i just got them done! she does an amazing job the nails hardly ever break or fall off and i work on my husband mustang with him i have played sports with my nails, Mai just does an amazing job!And the prices are very resonable for the work and time that she puts into your nails! read more

I have been a Salon Maxx customer for almost 3 years. Trang has been my "go to" girl for nails and pedicures. Her attention to details keeps my feet happy and healthy. Her artistic ability with my hands affords me continuous compliments. People will actually stop me to take a look. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE first and last time at this salon, when i arrived the salon was completely empty with no employee or client in sight. i waited about 30 minutes for my service although the salon was empty, and when i got my nails done it was extremely rushed. uneven and not filed. i had to ask and tell employee for basic manicure procedure like cleaning filing and lotion. dont waste your time, use your money elsewhere. I had a wonderful experience at this place. The atmosphere was friendly and the place was really clean. Not sure what that other reviewer saw. I found out that the current owner just opened this salon so maybe those older reviews are for the last owner. I have been going to Laina for years for my cuts & color. She is fabulous with foil weaves. I have also returned to Mai for my nails & pedicures....I have no idea what experience the "one star" had because I love the pedicures!!!!!! But from reading their posts, one can only assume they don't frequent nice establishments very often. A 10 minute pedicure would never happen at this salon. read more

I've been getting my nails done by Mai for many, many years. I'm so happy for her to have been able to open her new salon. The new place is beautiful, and a shorter drive for me.
