Toe nails cut so short to the point they were unable to file them anymore, my big toe cuticles actually look chewed up and it stings all over my big toes. You failed to mention that your staff was unprofessional, took an hour and a half for a simple soak off, and literally made my fingers bleed without a single apology. Go ahead and call whoever you want, I have the photos of the damage you did to my hands. Fix your staff before you try to fix your reputation online.

First, I want to say the ambience of the salon is beautiful. It's quiet, relaxing, organized, and I felt welcomed when I walked in. However, my experience during the service was concerning. I was initially helped by a male technician whose name I didn't catch. Before starting, he was scraping the table with what looked like a blade tool rather than properly sanitizing it, and he did not wash his hands afterward. His hands also appeared to have some kind of dye or residue on them. As someone with a background in cosmetology, this stood out to me. I had a previous builder gel set with only small remnants left. Instead of soaking or properly filing it down, he used an acrylic tip to pry the remaining product off. This was painful and can be damaging to the nail bed. I would have had no issue waiting for a proper soak-off, so I'm not sure why that method was used. I was then switched to a female technician who completed my service. She was kind and had great customer service, and I appreciated her efforts to be gentle after I told her my nail beds were sensitive. Unfortunately, the cuticle work resulted in multiple cuts. Six out of my ten fingers were cut and bleeding. At a certain point during the service, I found myself constantly looking at the clock and paying attention to where I was in the process because I was in so much pain and just wanted to get out of the chair. That is not something I've ever experienced before when getting my nails done. After leaving, my hands were in significant pain for several days. Even basic tasks like driving, typing, or doing dishes were uncomfortable. I ultimately had to see a doctor due to irritation around my cuticles and was given antibacterial ointment. This is the first time I have ever had to seek medical care after a manicure or pedicure, which was very concerning to me. Now, even after healing, I can still see the scarring And marks around my cuticles from the cuts. I usually receive a lot of compliments on my nails, even when I get something simple, but now when I look at my nails all I can see are the scabs and scarring from the cuts. it honestly makes me not want to show my nails at all, which is disappointing because i'm getting my nails done is something I truly enjoy. In terms of the final result, I did like the shape initially, although the edges were very sharp. However, within a few hours, I noticed issues with the quality. There was product chipping from underneath the acrylic, almost like excess polish left under the nail, and the acrylic itself began to chip as well. The polish also appeared uneven on some nails. Another note for first-time clients: there is no visible pricing board, but pamphlets are available near the front, so I recommend grabbing one to review pricing beforehand. I paid about $65 for the set and tipped 20% because I understand industry standards and the technician was kind. However, the overall experience felt rushed and transactional, and being passed between technicians was not something I enjoyed. I also noticed a difference in how the male technician interacted with another client who came in after me. He was much more engaged and conversational with her, which made my experience feel less welcoming in comparison. This experience ultimately solidified my decision to return to my private nail technician, even though they are over three hours away. I would rather pay more and travel farther for quality work and a safe experience than risk going through this again, especially after needing medical attention. I recently moved to Sacramento and have been trying different salons, but this experience unfortunately left a lasting impression. I've been getting my nails done for over 10 years and have a background in cosmetology, and I've never experienced this level of pain or injury during a service. I really wanted to support this small local business, but due to the pain, nail damage, and overall experience, I would not return.

She kept insisting they could add acrylic, powder, or tips to make them longer, but I explained multiple times that I wanted my own natural nails and did not want fake nails. What bothered me most was that neither of them listened to what I was saying. They continuously talked to each other while looking at me, which made me feel very uncomfortable. There was no apology, no accountability, and no effort to understand why I was upset. After about 20-30 minutes, I decided to leave because I no longer felt comfortable. I told them their customer service was rude and unprofessional. I paid $5 for the nail cutting and left. This experience left me feeling disrespected, unheard, and frustrated. I will not be returning.

We chose the Signature Pedicure and it was absolutely worth every penny. Warm stone massage, wax bath, full treatment. it felt luxe from start to finish. Easily the best pedicure I've had, and my friend felt the same. We've officially found our go to spot. No more hopping around. I have a reference photo of how they left my nails when I left, didn't even bother to smooth them out or anything with a buffer file. Upon checking out he charges me $15 and I tell him that whoever I spoke to on the phone told me it was $10. Then I was told that the extra $5 is because I kept my nails long but if I were to cut them they would've charged me $10 which makes no sense whatsoever! It's only a $5 difference the money didn't matter to me it's the principles! Why say over the phone it would be $10 and then try and charge more just for the heck of it... be aware they may try to over charge you!

Laina Hicks is racist. She AGGRESSIVELY defended her white stylist who was not familiar with simply straightening ethnic hair, and who damaged my hair on Valentine's day, leaving it frizzy and wavy still. I tipped anyway because that is the polite thing to do. Lanay grabbed my hair angrily as she spoke down to me, accused me of putting her stylist down when all I said I have had my hair done in this conditon and it turned out done well when she kept asking me when the last time I got my hair cut was, and when I kept telling her I don't remember. She then pulled down on my hair while talking to me in an angry way, and I got up because I was shocked. She then turned around and acted like the victim, and like I was threatening her, while grabbing my arms, trying to knock my phone out of my hands so I couldn't record everything, Laina manhandled me out of her store. There are bruises on my arm where she grabbed me. She then continued to act like the victim and told her staff to call 911. Her prejudiced perception motivated her to blatantly lie to the police officers about what I had had done. The police told me that Laina said I was charging towards her with a hot cup of tea, when before she manhandled me, I put my cup down which was only warm, in order to try to get my phone to video record and protect myself. I called the police immediately and sat inside my car on the other side of the parking lot and waited for them to arrive. Another employee came out to refund me after they had to convince Laina to refund me WHICH THEY LIED ABOUT, THEY DID NOT REFUND ME!!!! This all happened the day after my bad styling. Prior to the incident I came back to get it retouched because over the phone Laina admitted that she saw the hair was done improperly, and she said she "didn't want to intervene", so that was more important for her than me getting a decent drying and straightening that I paid for. She also purposely butchered my unique name. This is the only footage I was able to get. You can see her trying to knock the phone out of my hand for a second time in the video I posted on their Yelp page. She also grabbed my phone very aggressively. I'm surprised the screen isn't damaged. I will be filing a police report for the assault. A salon in the same parking lot saved my hair and made it look fabulous even with all of the damage lanay's stylist caused!!! read more

I have been going to Laina for years and followed her over to Salon Maxx. She is a wonder with the hair, making suggestions and doing amazing things to revitalize my hair and always leaves looking great. If you want highlights to match your natural hair, she can do it. I've seen her do wonderful color jobs on others as well. I have getting therapeutic massages from Dennis for over 5 years. It has been good medicine for my muscle problems. He now has a wonderful massage room to work in. I have recommended both Dennis and Laina to family and friends and will continue to do so. Though I am not a person to have my nails done, after watching Mai and the others work, I'm thinking about a pedicure. This salon is clean, inviting, welcoming and calm. Everyone that works there has been very nice. Mai has a way with plants and they really provide a wonderful elegance to the salon. You will be glad you gave them a try. read more

Don't know what the last two reviewers saw but this place is amazing! I took my girlfriend here to treat her and she had her nails done by Mai, the owner. Mai was very friendly and helpful and kept you smiling and laughing. She did tell me off a story that the previous day she had to kick a rude client out because the client was complaining and yelling and letting her 3 year old son run to a candy jar they had and almost knocked it over while trying to get a piece and when Mai helped him get one and asked his mother but she screamed at Mai. I am guessing it is the review from May 9 above as I took my girlfriend there on May 10th. The prices are moderate and they have a 20% Grand Opening special right now so that is great. Ladies that work there are very clean and efficent and great at what they do. Made my girlfriend even more beautiful and I thought that wasn't even possible. read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE first and last time at this salon, when i arrived the salon was completely empty with no employee or client in sight. i waited about 30 minutes for my service although the salon was empty, and when i got my nails done it was extremely rushed. uneven and not filed. i had to ask and tell employee for basic manicure procedure like cleaning filing and lotion. dont waste your time, use your money elsewhere. The owner of this salon also runs Special Nails Spa Rocklin, and her complete lack of professionalism is a systemic issue across both of her businesses. I originally had to visit this Nail Spa 999 location only because her other shop randomly locked its doors a full hour before closing time on a Sunday, even though their "Open" sign was still brightly lit. Fast forward to a recent service at her other shop on June 23rd: the experience was awful from start to finish. To begin with, their color selection is incredibly limited and they didn't even have the basic color I wanted, forcing me to settle for something else. The service itself was an absolute nightmare. The technician dragged a basic pedicure out for nearly an hour. I was visibly uncomfortable and needed to use the restroom so badly, just wishing she would hurry up, but she just kept dragging her feet. Worse than the terrible timing, she completely butchered my big toes. She clipped my live cuticles raw and then heavily flooded gel polish directly into the open skin. It has been nearly a week, and the sides of my big toes are still severely red, inflamed, and swollen. It causes a sharp, throbbing pain just to put on basic socks and sneakers, which has completely disrupted my workouts and my ability to stay active at the gym. When I called to address this, the owner was incredibly nasty and hostile. She admitted to me on the phone that she watched her security cameras and saw that I looked completely unhappy and uncomfortable during the 50-minute service, yet she still completely refused a refund. When I explained how painful the swelling was, she tried to gaslight me that it was because I'm pregnant and told me that I "complain too much," and literally HUNG UP the phone on me. They have zero respect for their clients, terrible technical skills, a poor selection, and a manager who throws tantrums instead of taking accountability for injuring people. Avoid any business run by this woman.

Kati's pedicures are so relaxing and she always gets my toes right -- french tips or solid colors. Not sharing feet photos for free lol -- but trust me! Kati is the best. Linh never misses when it comes to my nails. She is an absolute gem at her craft. Also, just a chill person to be around -- humming and singing while making my nails look good. Anyways, I was debating if I should write this review because I'd hate to have them booked when I need them, but I wanted to share how amazing my nails looked. The goal was to start the process of removing the pink hair color and transition to brown with highlights. She went above and beyond. Irina started with a partial per my request, but we decided to do a full weave of highlights and lowlights. I've never seen a stylist foil as fast as her! I'm calling today to see about my touch up highlights and see about extensions. There may not be a lot of pictures here, but I have been complimented by at least 4 cosmetologist about my highlights being on point.
