I was afraid she would run screaming when she saw my hair, but she didn't even bat an eye. She was so sweet and totally collaborative on both cut and color from start to finish. She fixed me right up and now I can say I'm ready for my big debut at my new office. Claire is amazing!!! My sister and I came into the salon to get our hair done not knowing what we really wanted. Claire was very informative and gave us both choices that would compliment us most! Because I have never dyed my hair before I decided to go with a semi-permanent. I told Claire the color that I was interested in and let her do her thing. Absolutely loved the outcome!!! I would describe the color as plum. So I went from dirty blond (my natural hair color) to Plum. I love it! I kinda dont want it to wash out She also gave me a trim and added some layers around the face. I'm very happy with everything My sister cut about 6 inches off, got layers and did baylayage highlights!!! It came out so great!!! She is also very happy with the outcome. The salon itself was very nice. Loved the smell in there and the lotion in the bathroom (I'm a lotion person). The owner was in when we first got there and we wouldn't have known if we weren't introduced. She looked like another hairstylist, was so humble and friendly. I've had a frustrating time with getting my unruly mop cut properly in this town - frequently, hairstylists would take one look at my curls/waves and try to convince me that my curls/waves were WRONG- they would try to pressure me into getting dangerous, toxic (and expensive!) straightening procedures done, or would insist that they would need to use a flat-iron in order to cut my hair "properly". It can get demoralizing. And it has taken me FIVE DAMN YEARS to find a salon/stylist who knows how to cut/style curly hair. I was directed to Lisa Power while doing a search on the DevaCurl Salon Finder site (which is a GODSEND to us curly girls!), and was able to make an appointment with Lauren. I could not be happier with my cut! Fellow Curly-Wavy girls: this is the best place for curly cuts in Seattle, hands down! I am responding to a very old review I made years ago. I just saw the reply from Lisa Powers that they do not charge extra for being late. I had the costs according to her website and was charged almost double. I had assumed it was for being late (probably 30 minutes). I make it a point to be on time and this was unavoidable. I could tell something was wrong because the stylist looked very uncomfortable when she gave me the ticket. The stylist made a point to tell me she was staying past her check out time because I was late so that is why I assumed the extra charge was due to my being late. This is well in the past but an owner can say I wasn't charged extra but this was way over the stated prices. I am just sorry I didn't see Lisa's response earlier. read more

Happened to be in Seattle & I needed to get a haircut. I didn't want anything too drastic done to my hair or excessively pricey. I found Lisa Power Salon via Yelp & called them up to see if they'd take a walk-in, the receptionist said that all walk-ins were welcome, which was great to hear since some salons don't take walk-ins at all. If you're not paying attention it's very easy to miss this great salon because it's tucked in the side of a condominium building that faces the water, so you do have to really keep your eyes peeled to spot it. But man, what a gem this salon is once you find it! The space itself is beautiful, bold, clean & modern with excellent natural light and large windows. White, red and black dominate the interior which feels very luxe and artistic. The entire staff--from the phone call up until me handing over my credit card--were extremely attentive. And best of all, they were attentive in a genuine way, not a forced way. I always dread the shampoo portion of my salon visits because the sinks are soooo awkward & painful to put your neck into. I've been to quite a few salons and I have to admit that Lisa Power Salon has THE BEST SINKS I've ever experienced. Super comfortable, natural incline. Most salon sinks hurt your neck or water drips down and they're just awful. But the ergonomic shape of their seats/sink was awesome. I really appreciated the attention to detail & client comfort when selecting their equipment. The stylist I had listened well to what I wanted, she did a great job blow-drying & trimming my hair. She didn't mind when I asked her how much longer it would take to dry my hair because I had some where to be, in fact she even picked up the pace (which is no easy feat since my hair goes down to the small of my back!). The atmosphere is very bright & cheery, the products they use are of a high quality (and all the stylists did a great job of explaining to their clients what products they were using and why), the cut was great, and everyone seemed to enjoy working there, which I find to be very telling about a salon. Lisa even took the time to chat with me a bit as I was leaving. Overall I had a wonderfully positive experience with some very lovely stylists who left my hair looking gorgeous. I called Lisa Power Salon in a panic after getting a terrible dye job at another salon just a few days before I was scheduled to have new headshots taken, and they squeezed me in the very next day! Hollie did my hair, and took such great care of me. She explained exactly what she would be doing, and made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the whole process. The original plan was to remove the bad color, and then add a new color (I was planning on being brunette), but after the removal process left my hair a gorgeous copper color, every stylist in the salon rallied around me and encouraged me to keep it, despite the fact that that would mean I wouldn't be paying for a new color. THAT is when you know a salon has your best interest at heart. On 12/13, I saw Claire for a hair cut. I had previously happily seen a stylist at Lisa Power Salon who no longer works there, so I thought I would try another stylist at the salon. This was not a good move as I walked out of the salon in tears about my hair cut. I walked in with hair down to the middle of my chest wanting 2 inches taken off and walked out with hair barely past my shoulders that doesn't fit into a ponytail. I love my hair down and long and wear it that way 90% of the time, but I workout regularly and my hair needs to also fit into a ponytail, which it no longer does. Claire started with a consult about my hair. I tried to specify in inches how much I wanted taken off and she instead tried to get me to show her where I wanted it to land. She asked me if I was currently having any problems with my hair and when I showed her one problem, she said it was the products I am currently using and after asking me why I am using them, spent the next ten minutes telling me why they are terrible for my hair and I should instead use this new product their salon is selling. She asked near the end if I wanted face framing layers and I said sure, but I still need to be able to get my hair up into a ponytail. I explained that normally I put it into a high ponytail. She was clearly more interested in making sure my hair looked cute to her than to me because not only can I not put my hair into a high ponytail, but the face framing layers do not go into the ponytail. I made it clear to Claire that I am mostly wash and go with my hair and it is important for that to continue. I showed her at what length that works and she cut off more than an inch past that point. With the cut she gave me, I'm going to need to wash it 5-7x a week. All in all, I walked in with great hair that was the exact maintenance level for my lifestyle and after Claire completely not listening to me, I walked out in tears with a hair cut that does not at all work for me. read more

I have been coming to LPS for about a year now and I have never had a single issue. I usually see Lilliam and she is why I am writing this now. Before coming here it was normal and expected that when I get my hair cut at first the change is a bit jarring but over a few days, I become accustomed to the new look. NOT the case anymore! I literally leave everytime absolutely in love. I have never had this experience and I've even worked in hair salons before! I have had regular stylists I had seen for years but really, LPS is simply the best. Lisa Powers' salon may have been voted the one of the best salons in Seattle Magazine last year, but it certainly qualifies for Tabatha's Salon Takeover. The staff is very friendly, perhaps a bit too much, my hair stylist spent more time on conversations with co-workers and other clients than she did cutting my hair. She washed my hair for what felt like 10 minutes, which is not what I paid $50 for. I've been getting my hair cut at Salon Seven, which is a similar price point, for the last 4 years and this place doesn't hold a candle to the level of training and expertise. The stylist at Lisa Powers who cut my hair clearly had just taken the preliminary classes as required by state and made up the rest with her 2 years of hair cutting at Lisa Powers. I'm generally not this harsh in my reviews, but if you charge a premium, there best be some quality behind the scissors. At one point she dropped the scissors on the ground, remarked "we'll just pretend that didn't happen", and then continued to use them. Instead of texturing my hair like a premium stylist would with layering, she simply just pulled out texturing shears. I constantly got hair in my eyes overall and was dissatisfied with the final result, which was nowhere close to what I requested. She also didn't show me what the back looked like, here's a hint, it looks like total fucking garbage. The worst part of it all is that now I have to wait for it to grow out before I can get this monstrosity fixed. read more

Marie Byrne is amazing! I went in with my hair washed and dried with product for a dry deva cut. I showed Marie a few pictures of what I wanted and she knew exactly what to do! She was really nice and personable and even offered tips on new products to try. I'm biracial (African American and Caucasian), and I have a hard time finding someone to cut my hair well. It's so nice that I found someone who I can trust to cut my texture of hair! Everyone in the salon was really friendly too. Lauren Little did my hair on my wedding day... and I LOVED it. About a month before the big day, Lauren and I met and did a run through of my hairstyle based on photos I had shown her. Then based on what I liked and didn't like, we made 'edits' to the hairstyle. Lauren was patient and did a great job in guiding me to figure out what I liked. On the big day, Lauren came to my hotel in South Lake Union and was right on time and her estimate of how long it would take to do my hair was right on the mark. I have curly hair and for some reason, I've found it so hard to find someone who can give me a good cut that's both a good hair cut and flattering for my face. Not only did Lilliam do this, but for the first time *ever* i have good 2nd day hair. In fact, some of my 2nd hair days have been better than some of my previous haircut freshly washed & blown days. It's that good. And she's nice, everyone in there is nice. Expect a hug when you come in the door, as people have mentioned you will be greeted and treated like family. I was referred to my stylist Lelia by Lisa Power herself after she complimented my hair, (I told her I liked it okay but wasn't that into the vibe or the service at Salon Seven,) and got to know me a bit. Could not be happier. Lelia totally nailed the haircut I wanted - short bob with as much texture and as many layers packed into it as possible - on the very first try. Even better, I got exactly the same cut every time I returned to her and asked for it. She has colored my hair several times with a semi-permanent conditioning treatment and really understands the subtle complexities of the shades of brown I was looking for. Lelia is always positive, (in fact, everyone I meet at the salon is always positive,) and truly treats every one of our visits together like a new adventure and opportunity to create something special. I feel like I have a haircut that no one else in Seattle has, and this is verified by the compliments I get on almost a daily basis. I always take a handful of Lelia's cards when I visit and it never seems to be enough. She also wrote me a thank-you note after I referred two customers to her. What's more is that she recommended to me a clarifying shampoo that rid me of my obnoxious dandruff problem I had been fighting for years. It worked after one use and I'm hooked for life. Jeremy is amazing! I can't wait to see him again for my next service. Jeremy spent a LOT of time working on my hair today. He listened to me and "got" what I wanted. I have very long blond hair, and "blond" is tough. It can come out canary yellow, ashy, too strawberry, too light.... today when I walked out, I felt like a movie star. Jeremy rocked it! I have not loved my hair this much in years. I really appreciated how meticulously Jeremy approached my color. At other salons, I've felt like they've wanted to turn over their next client; however, today, I did not feel like Jeremy wanted to rush me out of the chair. I received an attentive, professional service, and I feel gorgeous. Also, the Lisa Power Salon is very very nice, carries the exclusive line Davines (which I LOVE but can't ever find), and has free parking. You can't find a better salon in Seattle! read more

So I was doing fashion colors for a while and it was a very difficult task trying to correct the color and go back to a more natural look. I am so happy that Claire was able to save my hair! The balayage she did turned out amazing and I can't believe how great my hair feels now. She did an amazing job working with my complex color history and doing what she could to make it work. Overall she does an amazing job doing fashion colors and color correcting. I highly recommend her and the salon uses great products to top it off. read more
