This is my third cut with Marty at Salon Reyna. Which in and of itself says a lot. I wear my hear very short. I like cuts, that are fun, sassy, and can be worn multiple ways. I asked for long layers and instead got a basic, beveled cut. There is a big difference between those 2 types of styles and a hairdresser should know this. The appointment felt rushed, like the stylist just wanted to get it over with. From beginning to end it took less than 15 minutes - that's a wash, cut and dry. This would have been great if I had gotten the cut I asked for, but I didn't. Sure, it wasn't a bad haircut but it wasn't what I wanted and the styling tricks didn't help. However, the stylist herself was nice, the products used were good and again the cut wasn't terrible. All in all not the place for me. read more

I'm very satisfied with my hair, and my overall experience there. You can tell that the staff are authentic and cut out the pretentious and sometimes nosey act other high end salons give. They charge reasonably and give you what you're looking for. You feel right at home from the moment you walk in. They deserve a lot of good business, and I've had to deal with a lot of overcharging and stylists who don't know what they're doing. Salon Reyna is wonderful. The customer service is top notch. Lorie, the owner, is so sweet and always does what she can to accommodate my appointment requests. Twice, she's had her stylists come in early for me so the appointment could fit into my schedule. I don't know any other salon that would do that. Katherine cuts my son, Liam's hair. Not only is she very talented, but she's so good with him! During his trim, they talk about everything from their favorite board games to superheroes. He enjoys going to see her! His hair always looks great after his cut - and he has curly hair. Doesn't seem like it would be very easy to cut with scissors, but she manages to do a great job. She never uses a buzzer. And I've had my hair blown out there as well. I don't remember the man's name who did it, but he was Italian. Like Katherine, he was very talented. He understood my vision of bouncy waves perfectly. Just left after a very confusing and frustrating experience here. I called and spoke with the owner to set up an appointment. She said it would be $40 for a wash, cut, and dry which sounded great to me. When I arrived today, they said my appointment was with Marty. I said I thought it was with someone else, and I was told nope, it's with Marty. At checkout, after my haircut, the total was $62. I asked why the price was different than what I was told, and she said "Oh, Melony is $40, your appointment must've been with her, but she's not in on Fridays." If she doesn't work on Fridays, why did the owner schedule me on a Friday with her? Seems to me like they just wanted me to pay the higher price. After this conversation, she changed the price to $50, as if that is better. I just sucked it up and paid, and silently decided to not come back after being lied to. I then find out that tipping is cash only, which no one told me beforehand. I had to leave, drive to an atm, pay a $6 fee, and return to tip. So in the end I spent over $60 on a cut that was supposed to be $40. The haircut was fine, but I've paid less for better. Overall, this just felt very shady to me, and I will most definitely be taking my money elsewhere. read more

Marti is the best colorist I have ever worked with, and he is also fantastic at making recommendations for what hair style will look best on you. I highly recommend this salon. Salon Reyna is AMAZING! I had had a major color disaster a month before and Marty, a color expert and stylist, saved me. Marty knew exactly how to deal with this mess I had made out of my hair! First he covered up my roots, put in an amazing shade of brown to lighten my hair up, cut it, put in a few highlights, gave me a deep conditioner and then styled it. My hair looked so great and it was silky smooth! And... the price was incredibly reasonable. Marty is also extremely nice and made me feel very comfortable. Also, Laurie, the owner, did my makeup while my hair was being conditioned. She really knows what she is doing and put on all of the right colors. My skin looked great and I purchased the color line she used. She also sells a line of skin care products which left my skin soft and glowing. I am purchasing these products as soon as I use up my others I have at home! The other thing I really noticed at Salon Reyna was the atmosphere. It is decorated beautifully and is very relaxing with good music. They even had food such as, fresh fruit, muffins and donuts. The staff gets along very nicely and there is a real sense of camaraderie which is very important to me. This is by far the best Salon I have been to in Chelmsford, North Chelmsford and Bostone! The lovely and talented Jordan came in early for me on a Saturday morning to accommodate my brother's 10AM wedding. She saw my dress and paired my up-do to go with it perfectly. Two braids on either side with my long hair pinned up in curls (with about 1000 bobby pins) slightly off-center in the back. I was the talk of the wedding! Everyone absolutely loved it - it was simple and elegant, held in place all day on a 90-degree August day. I was skeptical since my short grey hair is fine, thin and seems to confound stylists in creating a current style without looking matronly and maximizing what I do have. Warmly greeted and welcomed by the owner Rayna I was soon introduced and into the very capable "cutting" hands of Marty. He quickly assessed my hair, suggested and explained the techniques he would use to add volume where sparse and to taper the back. In addition spiked up front and top for a contemporary look. For $35 I expect a better cut than I'd get at a barber chop-shop. I specifically told the guy that the sides of my hair spike out if it's too short and I don't want that, even if it leaves it a bit longer overall. What does the he do? He buzzes it really short all the way up. I would give 1 star except he did do a fairly symmetrical job and it'll do as a basic "I paid $10 for this" haircut. read more

I used Salon Reyna for my wedding hair and makeup for my October in Chelmsford and I am so glad I did. From the first meeting I was very confident that my bridal party would look fantastic. Salon owner Lori and stylist Jordan were inviting and willing to tackle my diverse bridal party, which ranged from flower girl to mother of the bride. Jordan did an excellent job on everyone's hair. Hair types ranged from short and straight to long and very curly. Everyone's hair stayed and looked beautiful for the entire event. Jordan is a master of the updo and made me and my girls look spectacular. She was patient, even when the forgetful bride had to run back to the hotel for the veil. Both Jordan and Lori did my bridal party's makeup. They did age appropriate make up on my 12 year old stepdaughter and made her feel incredibly special on such an important day. They used great Mary Kay products that needed little touch up all day long. All of the stylists in the salon were welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. I knew I was going to make my next appointment here before Lori even finished coloring my hair. Lori listened to my desire, shared her own ideas and it was decided. So easy, no fuss. Lori was so gentle. I was a little apprehensive because of her long beautiful nails but, never once did I feel them. I was there a few days ago. Marty handled my cut et al. He's skilled at times but seems to suffer from attention deficit and I'm being kind. He has the attention span of a small knat. He was vulgar, pompous and at times condescending. He's in his 60s and has a compulsion to flirt with the twenty year olds during the styling. When he's finished he gravels for a tip. Here's mine... stay away. There are far better salons around. And he's supposed to be the best there and that is not good. read more

Gave this salon tries w a couple different stylists. In my opinion, Marty did not do great color or cut; I found his opinions dated. He was also inconsistent. At the owners suggestion, I went to a different stylist, who was just average, but the price sure wasn't -- I realized the next day that I had been way overcharged by this stylist, as there was no one at the front desk to handle the billing so they did it themselves.
