Got a haircut by Mae. It's been almost two years since last time. It was long and dry. She gave me a mid length cut with layers and face framing, two things have haven't had much luck with in the past. I have fine wavy hair that easily looks choppy and thin, but now it looks healthy and full, even without any type of styling. With a newborn and toddler, washing my hair and letting it air dry is all I do. I had my hair cut by Jessica a few weeks ago and it was one of, if not *the* best, hair cuts of my life. Prior to my shampoo, Jessica gave me very helpful and honest feedback about what haircuts, colors, and styles would work best for my face shape, hair color, lifestyle, etc., and we decided on a plan. She then cut my hair in the most precise, methodical, and beautiful way while she talked me through the whole process so I understood her techniques. Unlike some stylists I've had in the past, she really understood my hair and what products to use in it - I ended up walking out of the salon with 3 products in hand, which I nearly never purchase. I've chatted with three of the stylists at Salon Salon now, and all of them are not only incredibly knowledgeable, but some of the most lovely people I've ever met in the industry. Mae is a genius. I came in asking for a major change in length and style; I described what I wanted and showed her a couple pictures, and she made it happen. I've tried a lot of salons in Tucson before finding this gem. The owner, Jessica, is very talented and really understands hair. She listens to me and does just what I ask. Once, she suggested something shorter, but accommodated my request to keep the front longer. Two weeks later, I changed my mind and returned for her original suggestion. She charged me very little - even though the change was at my request. I love my hair and it's easy to style. I recently attended one of Jessica's training sessions on how to get the "salon look" at home. It was a fun afternoon, and I learned some great tricks of the trade! Her coloring skills are on point. The best color I've had in ages. Then I went to Jessica for a cut. LOVE HER she gave me a whole new look that captured my personality without taking off length. I love this salon--bright, open, airy, and historic (it's located in the old train depot), while maintaining a sleek, minimalist vibe. I love the wall of succulents and the beautiful art-jewelry in the front (when I went, there were some amazing locally handcrafted pieces...will have to come back with more cash next time!!! :)) My haircut looks amazing (I've had MANY compliments in the few days since I got it cut!). My stylist, Sandi, is eerily good at figuring out what the blazes I'm talking about when I gesture vaguely and use nonspecific language to describe the hair I want and additionally, she always brings her signature flair and creativity to the process. She's very talented and she has never ever given me a haircut I didn't absolutely love, and has been my stylist for several years now. I dont really post reviews on anything however I would like to let people know why this is a horrible salon to even consider. Erin did my hair she was suppose to do a color remover and then dye my hair a medium brown.. my hair was full of patches some were yellow and some parts were left dark. She didnt even bother. She then went on with the hair color. She used a color that was basically red on my hair. I ofcourse hated it. I asked for brown not red. She tried to test a strand to fix it, it wasnt fixed but it was a little less red. She then went on telling me that she actually ran out of that specific dye so I would have to come back later in the week so she could die it. That is not the worse part. I was left with scabs and bald patches on my scalp from whatever she did on my hair. This has been the worse salon experience i have ever had. The manager jessica was horrible as well, she said she would call the police if I try to get my money back from them that they definitely did not deserve. Edit: its been more than a year and a half since these so called hairdressers damaged not only my hair and scalp but well being. Due to the chemicals that they use and the scabs that formed. For some reason my hair as been itchy ever since. Dont think its a small itch. NO! Its an itch that is there 24/7 and i have to scratch and irritates my scalp and does not let me live my normal life because the itch and irritation is constantly there. I know that hate is a very strong word. But i hate Jessica and Erin for causing this to me. And I hate myself more for ever walking into that place. read more

Please! I beg you to read my comment if you are thinking about getting anything done in this salon. I went to get a color correction done with Erin, Jessica the owner was also there. I would like you guys to know that they went ahead and used bleach in my hair to remove the color I had. They ruined my hair and the bleach they used burnt my scalp and hair fell off. I just called the salon to get my money back. I spoke to the owner Jessica and the only thing she said was "I have nothing to say to you, you wasted my time" she didnt even say she was sorry about what had happened. Please do not put your hair in these peoples hands. I was only asking for $50 and she said she was not going to give it to me and that she was going to go ahead and call the cops. Please listen to my awful experience, it will savr you money, pain, and emotional problems. These people do not deserve to call themselves hair dressers. Hair dressers have feelings like any human being, but these people do not. I wish I would have never stepped in this salon that ruined my hair, not only that It brought my self esteem down to the floor. They do not have a heart. This salon is gorgeous and modern. After your cut, you can go next door to Maynard's market for a bite to eat or wander downtown. Jessica, the owner, is very charming, kind, and stylish. However, she does what she wants to your hair regardless of what was discussed. I showed her photos and we talked about what to do. She said she wouldn't go as short as the photo, but when she was done, it was actually shorter. She also undercut it in the back to make it less puffy, which sounded good, in theory. However, if it is not styled exact right, the longer top layers flip out making me look like I have a weird duck tail. It took 3 months before I liked my hair again. They gave me my money back when I complained. I wouldn't hesitate to try another stylist here though. I've heard good things about Sandy. If you go to Jessica, just be very very specific and adamant about what you want. Many people seem very happy with her, so perhaps I just had a bad cut... She is very confident, so you can end up just trusting her because she seems to know what she's doing. read more

Had a cut and color done here by the owner Jessica. It was my second visit. My color was totally botched the second time. I called in advance to confirm that they used a specific hair color line (as I had the exact formula from my last (out of town salon) and was told they used it-well they were not honest about this. My color was a mess and three attempts to correct it there did not leave me with professional results-these were the kinds of mistakes a novice would make. My hair cut was equally disappointing. I would not suggest Jessica for curly hair, she cuts it straightened, just not a good technique if you want to incorporate and work with the natural wave. My services were all done by the owner who happens to be a lovely person although this day she was very distracted by the comings and goings of others-maybe this is why my color was messed up???. Hate to leave such a bad review but this was my experience. The other stylists in the salon were also lovely people and the space is cool, but I won't be back. read more
