After having a bad hair-dye experience a few years ago I was nervous to go to another salon. But after the year we've had I really needed a glow up!! I did extensive research and decided to go to Stilo Salon for a balayage full highlight. I chose Monica as my hairstylist and she did a great job with my hair! She made sure she was clear on what I wanted and explained the process throughout. She was really detailed and spent a lot of time on my hair! The salon was also clean and followed COVID safety protocols. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is because the salon was/is not blow drying your hair as part of COVID policy. I'm not sure how scientific that protocol is but after sitting at the salon for 5 hours you want to see the final results rather than going home with wet hair! As soon as I met her she had really great energy that made me excited to get my hair color and cut. I was also going in there not knowing what I wanted for my hair, but came out loving it!! We talked for a bit bouncing off different ideas for a new hair color as well as cut. She recommended something more caramel, but still staying light. I love this place! I followed Mola here and she is the best ever! Mola can transform your hair into whatever you want. Also, the salon is super nice and airy. This is a long ass review but long story short if yall dont wanna read through it: I had fucked up hair from a previous salon and Mola fixed it and made me feel like a woman again. I've went to multiple salons before and they've all either fucked up my hair or burned off half of it. After contacting Mola through IG, she followed up with me through email and sent me a detailed and thorough price list and what will be done to my hair. We exchanged pictures of what my current hair situation is and what I wanted it to look like. As we all know, asian hair going blonde/platnium is quite a journey and can take several sessions. A little history of my hair before I went to Mola, I got it done at a well known salon in Union Square and I trusted someone with my hair and it completely went downhill. I had mostly virgin hair and they did a global bleach out and completely left it blotchy and patchy. I was sooo disappointed because I paid around $500 only to come out with hair that was half assed. Now I know every stylist have their off days & what not but to leave your client knowingly that their shit was fucked up and not offering to fix it is another. I literally lost hope until I found Mola!! I trusted her completely cause at this point i just wanted my hair to be even, it didnt even have to be super blonde.. just.. an even color. If only you guys saw my hair in person. lol it was literally shit. People would ask why my hair was silver in the back and orange in the front. ANYWAYS. This is a long review but she is amazing and deserves the best!! She fixed my hair and spent 8 hours on me, yes its a long time but it was worth every minute. From the beginning till the end, I didnt feel like I was rushed and she explained everything that she was doing to my hair. My total was around $500 excluding tip. Worth every penny. I REALLY wished I had went to her before instead of the other salon.  She's also super easy to talk to and not awkward like some other stylists. It's been a month since I got my Balayage and haircut done and it still looks amazing! Mola is skilled, patient, and passionate. Especially since I came in with already colored and processed hair, she carefully considered my desired look and assessed the steps necessary to achieve a beautiful outcome. I'm so glad my hair stylist Anna has relocated this salon. If you're familiar with Burlingame, you know most salons are on the Ave and I'm so glad this is right off a back street = better parking chances. The studio has a very professional, light and sleek look/feel. Upon arriving, I was greeted by the sweetest lady at front desk- Leia. I was checked in quickly and offered a beverage. They also have complimentary variation of cookies and even a pretzel jar. I made it 20 min prior to my appointment (try to go early depending on the day to make sure you find decent parking and can find the studio which can be a bit tricky if it's your first time). What I love about Anna is prior to me coming in she does her best to give me the honest run down of what will happen based on what I show her I want to avoid disappointment/"wasted session". I sent her the hair color I was going for this season and once we were on the same page, she booked me in despite the short notice and desperation I wanted this done by. Once evaluating my hair and confirming what I wanted, she gave me a ballpark of what I'd be spending which I was fine with. (If you wanna look good, don't expect to be cheap). If you've never done your hair before, you have to be patient and trust that your stylist will be honest with you. I had a couple stylists assist with Anna to get my hair done (I have a lot of hair) & they all were honest about what was going on from processing to finish. My hair appointment was at 4 and due to expected reaction of my hair to the bleach since I had previous color the last 3 years, my appointment went until after midnight! Anna didn't and has ever cut me short of my "money" and has always done a great job no matter how time consuming her work may be. I want to start out by saying that sadly I was not able to get my hair done at Salon Stilo. The 5 stars is for the quality of service and integrity that I experienced here. I made an appointment with Moira for a hair color consultation. I wanted to change it up after years of box coloring my own hair(yes, I know - cringe). Sitting down in Moira's chair was like sitting in cosmetology 101. She provided me with so much information about hair products, why my hair may not take the bleach and the potential damage to my hair. November 4, 2020. Came back to touch up my hair during COVID times. Their COVID Protocols are LEGIT! First, they send out a COVID form that you would need to fill out and submit. As soon as you get there, there is a sign out front mentioning clients need to wait outside to be assisted before entering! As soon as you walk in, one of the ladies will check you in, take your temperature, and spray your shoes with a type of disinfectant spray. All Staff wear masks, and the gloves come on while working on their clients' color. I love the fact when they are rinsing you out, there are dividers in between each bowl to separate you from others. After washing, if you would like your hair styled, they simply have you blow dry your own hair in a secluded area towards the front of the Salon. Unfortunately, there is only one mirror in that area, so when it came time for me to do my hair, someone else was already at the mirror first. I ended up blow drying without even looking to see what I was doing, but it was totally fine. This area was also separated with dividers which was amazing!! I felt so safe getting my hair done! Carlyne Regis colored my hair, Kim Wong cut my hair, and I met Nellie for the first time! Nellie is super sweet, she helped style my hair, and even showed me a new way to get super cute, beachy waves with my new look! I've been to 4 other salons Mola worked out of (yes, I'm loyal and kept following her) but am happy for her that she has her own salon. And this salon is large and beautiful! There is plenty of street parking nearby. Also, I came once during covid and felt very safe. There aren't too many people in the salon and everyone is spaced out. There is no-one else I trust with my hair. She knows what I like and don't like without me having to tell her. I can just sit in the chair and say go for it and know that i'll love it at the end. I've been coming to this salon for a few years now and I've never walked out of here disappointed. Carlyne is my go to gal when it comes to haircuts, toners, baby highlights, balayage...basically I trust her when it comes to anything with my hair! She's the sweetest and always makes sure your comfortable. I love that she's very meticulous with her work and I never feel like she's rushing through my services. We usually start out each appointment with a run down of what I want to do to make sure we're both on the same page and her execution never disappoints! Typically this salon is packed, bustling and provides the whole nine with refreshments, snacks, etc. But due to COVID, they'd made some safety changes to protect all clients and staff including wearing masks at all times, taking your temperature upon entering, no blow dry service to limit air flow in the salon and limiting the amount of people in at a time. I've gone twice with these new precautions in place and I've felt safe. If you have a stylist you'd prefer to see, I'd recommend messaging or contacting them directly or calling the salon to make an appointment. You honestly can't go wrong with any of the talented stylists here. They're located right near Bgame ave, so do give yourself some time to find parking. read more

Joice Maniego is a master at her craft! Not only does she really know her work, but she made me feel like an ABSOLUTE QUEEN in the few hours we spent together. I didn't have the best experience with balayage a few years back so I was hesitant coming into a new salon to achieve the same look I originally sought after (dark brown to natural ashy light brown). However, Joice completely blew my expectations! She was thorough with her consultation--asking me specific questions while also informing me on the process and salon language that gave me better insight and a clearer conscience. She was extremely attentive and professional throughout my appointment, always making sure my needs were taken care of. I'm so glad I stumbled across her Instagram (@missjoicey)! I have complete faith that she will nail any project I throw at her. She will be my new + one & only stylist moving forward! As for the salon, it is the epitome of CHIC. Very classy, very modern! Literally the best salon experience ever. Before you even come in, Mola asks you a few questions about your hair, hair inspos and what not. I made an appointment last minute, initially asking for Mola, but it's hard to get a last minute appointment with her. She referred me to Carlyne, and I'm glad she did. Mola helps her out here and there. They all work as a team. I love their energy, it just puts everyone in a good mood. I sent them photos of what I wanted, and they got to woooooork. The salon itself is very modern and clean. Grey/black vibes, which I love! Great lighting and huge mirrors. The receptionist is so sweet, continuously walking around helping everyone out, and making sure everyone is doing ok. She kept offering drinks and popcorn. I brought my girlfriend here for hair coloring since she loved Mola (the owner) who previously worked miracles on her hair a year ago. It previously costed her $220 before tip, and obviously my girlfriend tipped well on top of that. I was expecting around the same price range (maybe ~$100 more since her hair is a little longer now), and I wanted to treat my girlfriend to hair coloring for her birthday. Since my girlfriend saw her last, she opened up her own salon. We were there for about 5-6 hours, and I sat there the entire time with nothing better to do but to completely analyze everything that was happening around me. Mola started off with a hair trim. I saw a sign that said "hair cut free with hair coloring" as a special going on, so I didn't think much of this trim. I was later charged $70 for this 5 minute trim, and told that the special doesn't apply to Mola. Why would the sign be on her station then... I also noticed Mola was juggling many different customers at once, passing off people to her assistant who was only doing hair for about 1.5 years graduating from Paul Mitchell. (I honestly had nothing better to do but listen in and watch lol). No offense, but I'm paying the big bucks for the owner of the salon, not a trainee. My barber would never pass me off to his trainee. In my position, I personally wouldn't want someone else representing my name and work on something that wasn't done by me. What also bothered me the entire time was that there was no price set from the beginning. We continued to ask, but we got "we can't tell yet because we're not sure how much work needs to be done". I didn't get a full price until the end which ended up being $533 which includes a 5% discount for paying in cash, and a Yelp 10$ discount for checking in. If this was told to be beforehand, I would have really reconsidered this salon. Again, expecting maybe $300 ish range before tip. Breakdown was: Highlight: $325 Color: $100 Root and glue (not sure what this is): $65 "Haircut" as aforementioned: $70 I honestly don't mind paying prices like this if it's good quality that I'm paying for. I'm the type of guy who pays $50 every other week for a men's haircut. But even as a guy, I can tell there's this orangey brown band in my girlfriends hair. Maybe it'll get better after toning it some more with purple shampoo, but I honestly don't think my girlfriend be back here again. I can tell Mola is a super nice person from my interactions with her, and we were treated with Mimosas and finger food as a Black Friday special. Super attentive and nice staff as well. Sadly this experience ruined it for me. At least my girlfriends hair came out better than she came in with, but not the quality/perfection I was expecting. I didn't get a price at the beginning and got charged over twice what it used to be. This isn't your first time doing hair Mola, you should be able to estimate a price at the beginning for me, or at least a price range. Please slow down with the customers and give your full attention to every one from start to finish. TLDR; don't let them touch your hair without setting a price. Don't let trainee touch your hair. Monica Nguyen was highly recommended by my friend so I decided to give it a shot. I was given instructions the day before my appt which was nice because I knew what protocols were in place to ensure the safety of clients during COVID-19. On the day of, I waited in my car until Monica was was ready to have me go in. Upon arrival, my temperature was taken, I sanitized my hands, and was given shoe covers. My appt was at the end of the day so it was not crowded and every other seat was closed off. Shower curtains were placed in between sinks as well. After seeing how clean and cautious the salon was, I was relieved and felt comfortable. Monica was GREAT! She did a dry cut since no blow drying was allowed. She asked me how I wanted to cut my hair. I told her I wanted to keep a good long-ish length but still chop off dead ends. She offered few a suggestions to address what I wanted. After she was done cutting, my hair was soft and shiny and it did not look like she took much off but when I looked down at the floor, there was A LOT of hair. I didn't think that she was able to cut a lot off while keeping my hair at a good length. My expectations were exceeded! We also toned my hair to even out the color since I had super light tips at the end from when I was blonde. After she toned my hair, she washed, towel dried, and added serum. Even though I was not able to have my hair blow dried and styled in the salon, I was extremely happy with my results because my hair already looked good after the dry cut. Monica really listened to what I wanted and delivered. I also asked her for hair care recommendations since shelter in place probably won't end soon so I wanted to make sure I am maintaining my hair as best as I can. I have been using the recommended hair care products (shampoo/conditioner/leave in serum) for almost 2 weeks now. My hair continues to feel healthy and smooth but more importantly not tangled anymore! Which is a relief because before I would dread brushing my hair. Throughout the whole process Monica was super sweet and easy to talk to. I can tell that she is truly passionate about her job and caters to her client's needs. I highly recommend her! Ambiance: Super clean, modern salon with high ceilings so it feels airy and spacious. I was due for the works, about two months ago. My hair was long and ratty. The color was grown out, and i just needed something different. Sandra, and she did an AMAZING job. I decided to go with the lob and highlights. This is the shortest i've had my hair since the 90s, so i went in full faith i wouldn't hate life post makeover. She listened to my wants and needs and fears, and did her magic. Update: I've been coming to Salon Stilo on and off (depending their and my availability) for the past three years. I have had the pleasure of the owner, Mola as well as some of the other girls, Stephanie (who is no longer there) Carlyne cut and color my hair and most recently, Moira tone and now cut my hair. However, I just wanted to truly express my gratitude to Moira, who not only was able to get me today for a haircut due to a last minute cancellation but also uplifted my spirits a bit as I had been feeling so self conscious of my looks after dealing with some long term stress and my current living situation. My hair near my crown has started to fall out and I felt like other stylists didn't want to take the extra time to see the best way to make it look it's best until it grows back. I honestly end up feeling the opposite of glamorous or even "pretty" most of the time I leave a salon because I always feel like stylists don't want to spend as much time on my hair as they do other clients, so details are always missed and my hair looks uneven or incomplete. Well, that is until Moira heard me out, listened to my concerns and then gave great suggestions that could dramatically make my hair look and feel nicer until it grew back. My last cut was a slight a-line lob that just hadnt been refined and so there were heavier pieces and no texture/movement added so it felt heavy and weighed down as soon as I washed it and air dried. What many stylists seem to forget is that the perfectly straighten and styled cut you leave with doesn't mean it's going to look the same if you're hair isn't naturally straight and smooth. I have slightly wavy, frizzy hair and a lot of it even though it's finer. Unfortunately, the area around my crown is a little thinner from falling out due to extreme stress and the ends that are much denser can easily weigh down the top making it look flat. Moira, listened to those concerns and did some point cutting throughout on just the ends, gave me a soft face frame and dusted my hair for any split ends. She also made me feel better about what I was dealing with and really took her time to make my hair look it's best for an event I had this weekend. It looks healthier, fuller and more manageable now. Moira, is really sweet, pays attention to the details and I highly recommend her or even one of the other ladies at the salon. You're in good hands! read more

Disappointed with the service, within a week and a half the color started to look brassy, my hair lost smooth shiny texture which is still okay as the hair bonds break due to harsh coloring treatment , but the overall color has turned yellow and very brassy in such short time. When I called them to check why this has happened, they asked me to come to the salon and pay $100 again to get toner treatment. I spent $500+ on the hair coloring with them, which included toning and now they asked me to pay $100 again within 2 weeks. Talk about shitty service! My hairstylist cancelled my appointment due to Covid restrictions but luckily Mola was able to accommodate and schedule me in very last minute. Her salon is very clean. My temperature was checked upon arrival and they had screening done for symptoms and exposures. They even provide foot coverings which I think is going above and beyond. Overall, I'm actually happy I ended up seeing her instead. I really love my hair cut and my hair feels so healthy after the cut and tone. I did have to leave with damp hair to limit air flow but she did style my hair prior to that so I was able to see how my hair would turn out. She even took her time to teach me how to do beach waves at home which I thought was so sweet. I legit want to throw away all the hairsprays I own for doing me dirty all these years lol I woke up with soft curled hair which is not easy for stubborn Asian hair. Just had my hair done with the extraordinary Mola! I am beyond happy with my hair! I haven't colored my hair in years and was ready for a new look. I knew if I ever wanted to get my hair colored again it would have to be by an expert who knows what she's doing and that's Mola! She is incredibly talented in what she does. She knows how to color Asian hair which is quite hard to do. You can tell she's very educated in the field of color. Her technique is incredible and she is super skilled! She got my hair to what I wanted in one shot. She pays attention to what you want and helps you set realistic goals and expectations. She also makes you feel really comfortable in the salon chair. She has such a warm personality and radiates such positive energy! My appointment took a few hours to finish but it honestly felt like it flew by. Her team is incredibly attentive as well. I followed April from her previous salon. I love the new salon she's at. Bright, open and spacious. I went to see April again and decided to go lighter, even though we're technically in the winter month. It had been well over year since I had seen her and gotten my hair colored. She is always so friendly and sweet. I showed her a few ("bronde") pictures and she automatically knew what to do. As usual, she did an amazing job. 5 hours later my hair is resurrected! Thank you Monica for coming in on your day off and helping me fix my mess of a hair! I didn't want to share her with you guys, because she really is a hidden gem! But I cannot, not give her a shoutout! Initially I tried to book with Mola, but girl is so busy now it's impossible, but luckily I was recommended to Monica. She made me feel really comfortable with process and it was probably one of my most enjoyable experience. That 5 hour session flew by. To be honest I didn't expect much but Monica definitely blew me away! My hair is the best it's ever looked and I am so happy with how it came out. She really took her time and had my hairs' best interest and a simple thank you just isn't enough. She's is officially my go too girl! read more

My first haircut in months!! Nellie did an incredible job taking off just enough length to where it was noticeable, but wasn't so drastic that it freaked me out (I've been nervous about cutting my hair short due to bad haircuts in the past). She also gave me really nice textured layers - I LOVE how my hair turned out! As for sanitation - besides mandatory mask protocols, they do temperature checks and give you shoe coverings when you enter the salon. I felt comfortable & safe. I'll definitely be returning to Salon Stilo for future hair appointments! read more
