The last time I visited, I decided to take a chance and get my hair highlighted and glazed. I went to Salon Toujours fir the first time after seeing them on a groupon. Lanit was the stylist who did my hair. I wear my hair both curly and straight ( naturally curly girl) Lanit totally understood my hair. It's so hard to find someone who really understands the issues with curly hair. Most stylists "run!" I received a phenomenal cut and great advice. Lanit asked me what I wanted and did exactly what I had wished for and more! She blew out my hair with ease into a straight style, but the cut will also lend itself to my curly day styles as well. The salon atmosphere was warm, friendly, clean, with lovely decor. From my first appointment conversation with Jackie, they could have not been any nicer. Jackie even called me to give me the option of an earlier appointment when she received a cancellation. I have had some good experiences and bad experiences at Salon Toujours. I got my hair colored for the first time ever last summer by a colorist there who's name I cannot remember. She was blonde, an older woman, and wore glasses. I wanted a light brown/blonde balayage, I even came in with reference pictures. What I got was nothing like I wanted, and I paid a lot of money for a color I didn't like. I left the salon upset, not wanting to go back. Nevertheless, a couple months later I went back and booked an appointment with Farida. Farida is talented, friendly, and efficient. She gave me exactly what I wanted and I was out the door in an hour. However, when I sat in the chair, she had asked me if I did my "balayage" myself, not knowing it was one of her own employees. That made me laugh because then I KNEW it was badly done. I am glad I made the appointment with Farida, and I will keep going back to her for color, but her only! read more

I had an excellent experience here! I bought the groupon, which I feel is a good deal, and I had awesome service so the staff isn't biased against the groupon purchasers. I would definitely return with or without the groupon. For anyone interested, the groupon is $29 and you get a shampoo/condition, cut, dry & style. Linet did my hair and I love her. She's so sweet, engaging, and really listened to what I wanted as far as style goes. I'm very pleased with how my hair turned out and I'm never happy w a haircut ever. The place is clean, trendy, staff are all nice, and it's in a nice location w parking all around the area. I love this salon!!! Everyone here is so good at what they do. Not only do I leave here always looking fabulous but so does everyone else. Alex is my personal hairstylist and he does amazing work. He knows hair so well and is an excellent listener so if you come in with a photo he can deliver or he can give you what he thinks will look great on you. That's a trust you can't find among a lot of people out there. As for color they are excellent. The salon is so clean and the staff is so attentive. The staff there is very welcoming and attentive. Now for my hair stylist Elaine; she was amazing. Elaine was very attentive and a pleasure to interact with while she did such a great job on my hair. She was honest with advising that what I originally wanted to get done was going to be not only difficult but also damaging to my hair. When searching for a place to get my hair done I was really skeptical because it's hard to just walk in without someone else's recommendations. I came here a few weeks ago to see Anisa. She gave me a haircut and Brazilian blowout treatment. I've never had this treatment and was interested in trying it. It was also my first time coming here and the receptionist greeted me and introduced me to Anisa. Everything was super professional and Anisa made me feel really comfortable. Jacki is so sweet and accommodating - she was able to fit me into the schedule last minute and gave me directions to where I could find convenient parking behind the salon. In the past I have had the pleasure of working with both Lanit and Dina for highlights and cut. They are both fantastic hair stylists - this salon truly has great talent. Today Dina lightened my hair with highlights and trimmed just a touch off my hair. I used to dread asking for a "trim" and always loosing more than I planned to - but not here! I bought a Groupon for a haircut, deep conditioning, and partial highlights, wanting to try out a new salon in the area -- and Toujours is amazing! Such a wonderful find, especially in Ridgewood, where there are a handful of other salons nearby. I've been to a few of the others, and have to say that I will no longer be going there -- Toujours is my new go-to! The salon itself is beautiful -- so spacious, clean and bright! The staff is GREAT! Regardless of whether or not they're working on you, they're so friendly, offering coffee, tea, and water multiple times throughout your stay. I have curly hair (sometimes resembles a fro), which many stylists find "difficult to handle," so I'm always wary of going to someone new. Howevvver, Lanit is FABULOUS! First, we discussed exactly what I wanted, and she asked me many questions, followed by an explanation of what she was planning on doing with my hair. I asked for caramel brown highlights to tone down lighter highlights that I had in my medium brown hair, and Lanit gave me EXACTLY what I'd asked for (which has never happened to me before, so imagine my excitement!). Also, the highlights actually look NATURAL, which is huuuge for me -- I hate those chunky highlights, and have unfortunately been stuck with them in the past, so I was very happy!!! My hair was pretty dead on the ends, and she gave me a beautiful, fresh cut; it now looks super healthy! She also put a glaze in my hair (additional $30), which I always think is necessary when highlighting/coloring; it definitely enhanced the end product. All in all, I had an absolutely wonderful experience, and will most definitely be going back! Lanit took her time with me, she's SO personable, and is GREAT with curly hair!!! I highly recommend her to people with all types of hair, but specifically to curly-haired folks like myself who struggle to find a hair whisperer!!! Faisal has consistently been cutting my hair for over 10 years and it always comes out the way I want it. I've stayed a loyal customer because I never have to worry if he is going to have an off day and go too short or too long. Warm shaving cream touch-ups with the straight razor are a nice finish. It took me a long time to find a go-to regular barber before I found Faisal and I'm glad he's that guy. The salon itself is super clean and the reception area is comfortable in case you get there before your appointment time. The front desk always is hospitable by offering bottled water. I have been one of Elaine's clients since I was five years old. I dread the day she stops working because I trust no one else with my curly hair! I was leery at first about coming here because of other yelp reviews, but ended up having a great experience. The salon is beautiful. Clean and well kept, it is a relaxing environment to have your hair cut. My stylist, Anisa, was terrific. She cut my hair exactly as specified and then made adjustments to ensure I was beyond happy with it. We talked extensively beforehand about precisely how much she would be cutting and what the style would look like. Got my haircut there a few times. It was okay in the beginning, but last time I asked for long layers, but for some reason i got uneven shelf - that other users wrote here. Now, the upper part of my hair looks and feels thicker than the lower part. The upper part curls down and lower part curls up. Really not happy - will not be going there anymore. Btw, Lanit cut my hair, and she always pushes extra products on you, whether you come with groupon or special from their website. I am also annoyed that that owner woman never greets customers, she just knows how to write rude comments - which makes you look stupid and unprofessional. Instead of answering every negative review of your salon you should really pay more attention to customers and do not try to rip them off. Really expensive too! Forgot to add annoying habit of Lanit - when you are leaving she lingers around waiting for a tip. Like you gonna run away. Unprofessional. I highly recommend a stylist named Lanit. I have very long stubborn curls and her Keratin treatments always last as she is very thorough in her applications. Her knowledge of color is unsurpassed. Even if you are in a pinch and need to schedule something last minute his staff is always happy to arrange this. The location is perfect with parking available behind the building in the lot on North Walnut Street. The facility is very chic and modern. It has nice seating and friendly staff to great you at arrival. Pricing is very affordable for a men's cut. If you need a quick shave or rinse Faisal is always quick to accommodate this as well. Lanit is absolutely amazing!! I'm soooo picky when it comes to blow dry it's not funny!! If I see just a little curve in my hair (the hair that is close to the forehead) it drives me nuts and she know exactly what to do. She is sooo thorough. Her blow dry lasts for days.
