I had a nightmare experience at salon12 on two different occasions. After going to Ali in the past and always loving my hair, I decided to go to salon 12 after moving out of the area for my upcoming Sonoma county wedding. Ali was not available so I was scheduled with two other stylists that I was not familiar with. The first time I came in to get my hair highlighted I was scheduled with Kelly and I asked for warm low lights. My hair turned out a very grey ash color which I hoped would fade over time. I was nervous because my wedding was in two months and I did not want grey hair! I figured she didn't know much about color due to being new, and just made an honest mistake which is understandable and forgivable. I was then scheduled with Grey for my wedding trial. I was assured that she was the best and does most of the wedding services for the salon. I came in on the day of my trial with pictures and ready for a color fix hopeful that she could return my natural blonde in time for the wedding which at this point was in two weeks. I feel that Grey did not listen to me when I told her and showed her pictures of my desired color and hair style. I told her repeatedly that I don't usually wear makeup and I wanted it to be minimal. My hair color looked ashy grey-green, my hairstyle fell out 20 minutes after I left the salon, and the make up she applied was hideous. I am a very fair skinned blonde and she attempted to draw on dark brown eyebrows that were bushy and looked like a man. I felt ugly, looked nothing like myself, and was quite worried about getting my hair color fixed in time for the big day! My fiancée barely recognized me when I saw him after the appointment, and he agreed that I looked a bit like a drag queen! I sent pictures to all of my bridesmaids who were polite enough to only say that I did not look like me. My mom who was also a client at salon 12 for years, helped me to find another stylist to fix my hair elsewhere and was appalled at how I looked and how much I paid for the trial and awful color job. The cost of this fiasco? Over $400 just at salon 12. I was able to get the color right with an experienced stylist elsewhere and my hair and make up beautifully done on my big day with someone who actually listened to my requests and respected my wishes to have natural looking makeup. The cost was also a quarter of what salon 12 charges for wedding services. I will never refer anyone to Salon 12 for wedding services as they are one of the highest priced salons in the area, but do not back their prices with quality work. All I can say is I'm thankful for having a trial because I would have been extremely disappointed with how I looked without one! Save yourself time, money, and stress and book your wedding services elsewhere.
After reading salon 12's response to my review, I found several points that they made to be very upsetting in that they were just not true. I never had a haircut from either Kelly or Grey. I paid exactly 460$ for the wedding trial, not including the prior visit with Kelly. I did not "love" my hair at all. I can admit that the hairstyle I chose, the waterfall braid, was not a good choice for longevity. If that was the only problem, there would not have been a problem! The main issue I had was my hair color on both occasions. The color was BAD, greyish green and ashy. I specifically asked both times for warmer lighter blonde. I spent most of the following two weeks trying my best to wash the ash out of my hair as naturally as possible so as not to further damage my hair under the guidance of a color specialist. I then spent hours and lots more money getting the color corrected the day of my wedding rehearsal. The last thing I needed was the stress of having ruined hair in the days leading up to my wedding. The last place I was going to go back to was the place that ruined my hair!
My make up was not at all natural and for salon 12 to say that it was natural is just ridiculous because it's really up to the customer to decide what is natural. Everyone who saw my makeup was appalled and said it did not even resemble me so that is all that needs to be said about that.
I waited a while to write my review because I needed time to collect my thoughts and feelings about the whole experience so that I could write a tactful review.
I understand that Salon 12 does not want bad reviews and feels the need to defend their reputation and quality of services, but to call me a liar and to make up claims about offering refunds is just unprofessional. Blaming the customer for being unhappy with their experience is bad business. The bottom line is my hair color was undeniably ruined two weeks before my wedding, and I was extremely unhappy with my experience at Salon 12. Consumers have the right to express their dissatisfaction online, and I'm sorry Salon 12 found this so offensive that they felt it necessary to blame it on the customer in order to save face. read more
