5/5 stars, no doubt!! I came across Kevin's work after my friend had gotten her hair done by him. I was immediately drawn because I know Asian hair can be so hard to work with (unfortunately from personal experiences) and her hair looked stunning. Upon messaging Kevin, he was super kind and open to giving me a consultation regarding my hair and where my expectations should sit at. We proceeded to then make an appointment! Today I had came in to get my hair highlighted--one of the pictures that I've attached was my inspiration pic. Again, we confirmed what is achievable for my hair and what to expect. The process took nearly 7 hours, but it was so worth it! Kevin was very precise and meticulous about the cut. This is literally my dream haircut and I never thought it was achievable on my fine hair. The highlighting took up majority of the appointment! At first, it came out too brassy, but even before I could say anything, Kevin noticed it too. Kevin and his assistant immediately started toning it one more time, even though we were already 6 hours in!! The anxiety in me instantly was alleviated, and I overall just appreciate how much attention the team at this salon puts into all of their styling. One of the ladies working there alongside Kevin was so sweet as well. They kept checking in to make sure I liked what I saw, that I was hydrated, that I was fed! What a great experience. Warning: this is a true story about a hairstylist, Emily, saving one's confidence. Once upon a time, my heart was broken by a hair stylist I used to visit. My loyalty to him completely shattered when I walked out of the salon literally sobbing; he somehow melted half of my hair with bleach and had to cut off 8-9inches of dead hair. We all know how much a hair style can up&down one's self-esteem, amirightt?! Long story short, ... I met Emily. And my hair now looks like this ( just look at that transformation) At the time, half of my hair was bleached and colored with brassy yellow/orange, and the other half colored with brown. This could be an issue when it comes down to double-triple processing dye jobs. Emily really hustled my hair to its core. She acknowledged the health status of my hair. She paid closer attention to my hair over 6 hour course than any of my shitty exes ever have. She educated me on how to take care of my hair. If I could give 20 stars to Steve I would - Steve and his team are seriously amazing. I am super picky about hair and have cried every time I have gotten a haircut since I was 12 (this is not an exaggeration) EXCEPT for with Steve. He is so knowledgeable about hair - for example, if you give him a picture of a hair style/color that you want, Steve will explain how close he can get your hair to the picture and how he'll get there, what adjustments could be made that would better for your hair and skin tone, etc. I have never seen someone so talented and passionate about hair, and dedicated to making every single one of his clients feel their best. He is also extremely nice and makes you feel at ease. Everyone else on his team (shoutout to Kama! She is so funny) is so kind, professional, and enjoyable to be around as well. They're also seriously dedicated to good hair - they're not like normal stylists that try to sell you their most expensive hair products for no reason. I've had the same haircut for over a decade. Your basic, "Long Layers please", always too scared to see what would happen if I chopped it shorter. Long story short, I followed Steve from another salon, because the FIRST time I cut my hair short AND dyed it (another first) it was under his guidance and I could not have been happier. Now on his own, I dutifully came in for my first follow-up trim and he didn't disappoint. I won't pretend that I'm a pro at knowing who's the best, but all I know is he REALLY listened to me, like he knew I liked the lob from last time, but since I'm going to be a bridesmaid in May, gave me a shorter cut that would grow out more evenly so that I could have more hair for any updo. Also, apparently I have thicker hair on my left side vs my right. NEVER KNEW, but totally makes sense!
