Two, my BMW dealer highly recommended them the first time I was rear ended and I was completely satisfied. Three, the staff is amazing! Had a great experience at Sals. Decided to take my Mazda there after the fixed my mother in laws bumper and they did an amazing job. They did a great job fixing my passenger door, ordering all certified parts. The work was top notch all around. My car took a little longer than planned due to parts being delayed due to a snow storm, but they kept me notified on the whole process from start to finish via text message and phone calls. Liliana was a pleasure to deal with and put me at ease right from the start. She I got my car back, it legitimately looked brand new. I truly wish I never brought my car here. Wish I could do zero stars. The upquoting felt excessive (yes I understand how insurance works.) Real issue was dealing with Sabrina. Trying to communicate with her was like dealing with an unprofessional Rottweiler nothing but aggressive, constantly interrupting, and not letting you get a word in. Every conversation is not only her narrative but constant lies and inconsistencies, thus turned into her talking over me, circling around points, and contradicting herself when questioned. From the start, she made unnecessary and classless comments about my car which is a two year old high end vehicle. Completely uncalled for and wildly unprofessional. Everyone else there was pleasant, which makes it even more disappointing. Unfortunately, one person can completely tank the entire experience. From dealing with the Insurance company, the estimator and updating me about actual repairs, I didn't have to do a thing. They even took care of my rental car I had. Sal's even detailed the OUTSIDE & INSIDE of my car prior to giving it back to me. I honestly thought I was picking up a brand new car. I don't post reviews very often here, but the experience I had here was the best experience I've ever had an an auto body shop. When dropping my car off after a minor pothole collision, but substantial enough for an insurance claim, the ladies at the front desk were very friendly, knowledgeable, and handled the coordination with both the insurance claim and rental car agents, while I waited! (I also admired how they could multi-task and give other customers and phone calls the proper attention needed while I waited...) Overall, there was a good vibe in the waiting room. I left my car at the shop, and got timely updates during this. Although the repair took longer than my previous experiences, which I believe this was due to our macroeconomic environment (supply chains, obtaining the OEM parts, etc), they never gave me false hope and always provided the right expectations throughout the process. When picking up my car, I was able to leave the rental car in their lot, they handled the closing of the rental, and when I got into my car, it was an amazing experience. I felt like I had my baby back, and it was like new! They cleaned and detailed the car, which was again, above expectations (but also similar to other reviews here), and I drove home with the biggest smile. I went there to have them replace two back doors for my work van that someone had accidentally slammed lightly into ...both back doors were slightly dented however I wanted them replaced so Sal's auto body quoted the drivers insurance company ...their insurance company called us since we had the same insurance they told me that Sal's auto body was way too high and Would I have a problem getting another quote however the insurance company told me if I decided not to get another quote they would pay this I did get another quote.. While setting up another quote the girls at the front desk of Sal's auto body repeatedly called me to ask me when I'm coming down with a down payment they also told me that they might have to keep my van for 2 to 3 weeks which is absolutely ridiculous to put on two van doors I run a business I need my van done as quickly as possible which they apparently could not do they rudely told me the way it was going to be to a point where I had to tell them the way I wanted it done they were so pushy that you can just tell that something wasn't right anyway I did get another quote from a reputable autobody place. To find out that Sal's auto body was five times the amount of money. I've only had one experience with Sal's (and hopefully won't have another) but it was great. I was involved in a fender bender and took my car here to be repaired. Everyone that I encountered at Sal's was friendly and answered all of my questions to my liking. The repair did take longer than I expected due to the need for the other driver's insurance rep to come evaluate my car. I assume this is not an issue with Sal's but rather the other driver's insurance. Still, it was annoying as it took about 4 days for my car to be evaluated prior to work commencement. Once the go-ahead was given, my car (bumper) was repaired within a few days. In the evaluation, the manager (I believe her name was Lisa but don't quote me) noted an area of paint bubbling on my bumper where there had been a previous repair (not done at Sal's). Out of kindness, she attempted to fix it, which resulted in further damage to my paint job in that spot. She was completely upfront with me about this and notified me and offered to fix it for me another time for free. I appreciated this. I didn't notice the crappy job from another repair (again, not done by Sal's) but was so pleased with how she handled the situation. One thing that I found to be particularly frustrating in my experience with Sal's is that they have standard office hours (8-5 M-F - no weekends). That can be so so annoying for me as I work 12 hour days 5+ days a week and due to the nature of my job, I cannot take off for an hour to drop/pick up my car. So getting my car repaired here required a huge maneuvering of my schedule and lots of favors. For this reason alone, I would think twice before returning. Their service is absolutely great and I was very pleased but their hours are a huge headache. If you happen to have a flexible schedule, then I definitely recommend this place for body work. read more

Okay this is going to be a long review. I have been a life long car guy and thus when my 2016 BMW M4 needed a repair I was very critical about the shop I chose to perform the work. I had a special order color that to my eye looked impossible to match and really had concerns. The repair required a fender , hood and door replacement. I was given several shops between Huntington and Miller Place. Having done my homework I found that my car was aluminum and required special care such as a private work space void of metal cars or particles. Apparently metal particles stick to the aluminum leading to corrosion and paint peel in the future. Sals had that facility. I found that aluminum is an art to deal with , I found that Sals was aluminum certified and that was very important to me. I wanted someone who had experience with high end vehicles and cared for more that the body in keeping the leather and steering wheel clean as they kept it in their shop . ( Believe me there are places that will work on your car and grease your steering well as well ). Sal's had ample high end vehicles on the lot and it was clear they knew how to care for them. On arrival I was met by the front desk women and Im sorry I didn't remember their names but each of them played a part in not only getting my car in but arranging my rental on the spot. When they notified me that my car was ready I went with a bit of anxiety because I am not your typical driver. I was not going to fall in love with a clean paint job it had to be perfect. Sure enough I see the car , lets look at the color , perfect match. Lets look at the " depth or thickness" of the paint, Perfect Lets look at the overall shine or clear coat look , spot on! Remember in the factory cars are painted by a computer controlled robot its almost impossible for a human to apply the paint as evenly and perfectly as a machine but let me tell you Sal's really did. Now inspection 2 the seams, I didn't want a 1/8 in seam on the R side door or hood and a 1/4 on the left. Well the seams were exact , to the millimeter ! Open the hood, is the under area painted and the bolts holding the fender nice , clean and painted. Well they all were prefect. ( Im talking about the paint covering a new car , the bolts are coated and the finish is smoother some shops don't take the time to make these areas look new. All in all I couldn't be happier. The car looks as if nothing ever happened. I can assure you that Sal's will repair you vehicle to perfection. read more

Huge thanks to Laura, Sabrina, Neal and the entire team at Sals Auto Body. I was recently in a bad car accident with my vehicle. There was large amounts of frame damage. I knew my vehicle couldn't just go to any shop. After speaking with the knowledgeable staff and seeing the facilities at Sals, I knew where my truck was getting fixed. I've been to a lot of body shops throughout the years and there's always parts and what not laying around from the last 20 repairs but not here. This place is immaculate, you would never know you're in a car repair facility. I dropped off my truck and they had a rental car waiting for me. I signed some paperwork and that was it. They dealt with the insurance company and I didn't have to do anything except wait for my truck to be ready. All OEM parts and no bondo. Everything was done above and beyond expectations. All right folks, I left my truck for repair in this place, and it took them 58 days to complete the repair which included a door, battery and a tire replacement, most insurance companies cover only 30 days for car rental, so is mine, when I reminded them this fact, Laura, the manager, said they would cover it as it was their fault, and they kept saying they would return my truck "next week, next week, next week". Finally, I got my truck back after 58 days in the shop and I ended up paying $1004 for the balance of car rental bill, What a generosity! they offered to pay only 6 days of car rental which I refused! 22 days of rental came out of my pocket! Let me start by saying that if you think you are picky I probably have you beat. For example, I am one of those people who will not go to the car wash because I am afraid that they will scuff my wheels or use the same towel to dry the wheels as they would to dry the car. To me thats a big no no. I will also generously tip a valet to park my own car or I will never enjoy my dinner. Some of you will understand what I am saying. lol. So when I needed work done on my exotic car I really struggled on where to go. One shop I went to actually told me that they were to nervous to work on my car and asked that I take it someplace else. The other shop actually recommended Sals. When a company recommends a competitor you know they must be good. I then called my sales rep at the dealership and he recommended the same shop. So with a competitive reco and a high-end dealership reco I figured this was the right place. I immediately had the car towed there from the original shop and decided to take a ride to Sals the next day and check the place out. I have owned over 55 cars over the past 25 years which has put me in every dealership and auto shop around. I have never, and I mean never, seen a shop so clean. High-end cars everywhere! Floors immaculate! Equipment Immaculate, front office like that of a Dr's office. I mean it was almost to good to be true. Believe it or not it got better, I met Laura. To say she is an expert in her trade is a gross understatement. She proved to me within minutes that she knows the business and cars inside and out. She had an energy and passion for what she does as if she started yesterday and as it turns out I think she has been in the business for over 20 years. When I left that day it was like a 50lb weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I knew my car, my investment and my passion was in the right hands. As time went on the experience remained exceptional. Updates, collaboration and professionalism. Most of all I was treated with respect. In a day when its hard to find people that understand true customer service and client experience it was refreshing to see its not dead. The car required 4 weeks of work. So as any consumer would be thinking I was getting nervous about the bill that was accumulating. I mean this is the highest end repair shop with rows of $100k vehicles awaiting repair. We all know the feeling when you are about to see how much something cost you that was not off the shelf. You know like when a contractor found something "unexpected" when making a repair to your house and he will get back to you with the price after the work was done. So the moment came and i was told the cost. Thankfully It was extremely fair and the best part was that every cost was explained and justified with a part cost and labor cost. At the end of the day my experience was exceptional and I highly recommend this shop. Its unfortunate that people don't spend more time posting great experiences and instead only post bad ones. With that said I use my emotional and logical side when I make my decisions on who to work with. If you drive by Sals and see the number of cars they fix daily you can do some simple math and come to the conclusion that even if they had a bunch of bad reviews, which they don't, they are still doing a tremendous job. I have to assume they fix 50-100 cars per month so do the math. Not to mention they had Manufacturers certifications from every top brand. I did my research on that too and its not easy to get. Why just take the owners word for it that they are good, let Mercedes and BMW do the home work for you. The fact is that if you are looking for a perfect fix, and I understand that not everybody is (older cars for example) at a fair price and timeline this is the shop. period. If you go elsewhere you haven't done your homework or you just don't have a need for such a place. Let me start Off by saying that I am the BIGGEST Mercedes Buff in New York and I am a very very Picky Person as My car of choice has always been a Mercedes. I have been around automobiles 40 plus years and have used a variety of shops and SALS Auto Body in St James is by Far the best. I can say with certainty that no other shop compares to Sal's and the level of work they do. I have used shops in Nassau, Suffolk and the 5 boroughs and nothing compares. I have used Sals on various occasions and the repairs have always been done to my satisfaction and believe me I am extremely picky and am a perfectionist when it comes to my cars. The shop is a certified Mercedes Benz shop and also a Certified aluminum Repair shop. This is a Very prestigious designation to have and was and is Very important to me as a Mercedes Benz Fanatic and board member of a local Mercedes-Benz club. Laura and and the other women who work in the office are very helpful and professional and of course her full team of repairmen and technicians are FIRST CLASS at their jobs.
