We eat at the Delray location - so it's hard to understand the low ratings. Service is good and includes garlic knots and water on the table. Salad is included with the meal and the food is above average, with ample portions. As a kicker there are sometimes coupon deals available making it a very good value. This is my second time ordering from Sals in royal palm beach I am disappointed they don't know on the door for delivery they leave my food at the door step how am I suppose to know when it arrives or if bugs will get in my food ? Let's start with the good. I got the penne Ala vodka and it was perfect. The sauce was great and the pasta was a great texture. However the service was pretty rough. Walked in waited to be sat. Was told to sit wherever. Ok that's fine. Female server gives menu and takes drink order. Male server brings drinks. Takes order. I ask if there is a kids menu. He replies "no". No suggestions or anything. Just "no". We order. He brings soup and bread. Short time later he brings the food. Haven't seen him since. Drink is now empty. Both servers have attitudes like they don't want to be here. Better description is that they are a couple that are in a fight so they are sour to everyone else too. For if all Jasmine was fantastic as a server she was kind and personable. She came over and introduced herself made a few suggestions what we should order took a beverage order and was back in a timely fashion.. the restaurant is so cute and smelled delicious. I loved the ambience inside. We then ordered our meal. I ordered linguine and white clam sauce, and then my Husband ordered the chicken piccata, we each got a salad to start with and fresh garlic rolls. that was so delicious. You could smell the garlic coming over to us. Our dinner came out about 15 minutes later which was perfect timing, hot and steaming and fresh. My husband took one bite of the chicken and was absolutely thrilled. It was tender and delicious not too much sauce not too salty. it was perfect, I had a linguine and white clam sauce, which was absolutely amazing. You could see the fresh garlic shaved into the dish and seasoned perfectly! If you have a chance to go visit this location, it's one of the best locations I feel that they have everybody was so helpful. I just moved to Florida from nyc so Iv been looking for quality Italian places. The food at Sal's isn't bad but it definitely isn't the same. However here's the issue. 1. I ordered a chicken cutlet and I was charged for a chicken parmigiana meal..without even being told. I didn't want a meal I just wanted a piece of chicken to add to my pasta. 2. I called after 4 pm. I wanted a slice of pizza. After 4 pm you can only order full pies. Not really understanding this but whatever 3. I ordered a bruschetta appetizer. I went to order it again and they don't make it anymore .. a week or so later. 4. Bolognese I ordered was super greasy and full of peas.. so much grease it spilled onto me when I was eating it. 5. I should have known something was wrong when the woman taking the order over the phone asked me to repeat my order 5 times. 1 order of lasagna with salad and 1 order of baked ziti and salad was apparently too hard to remember. She said it would take 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. When I questioned why it would take so long, she then said it would probably be 10 minutes and that no one was in the restaurant. When we arrived, there was no one in the restaurant other than the staff. Once home, when we opened our meals we found the following: each salad was in a small styrofoam and was all lettuce with a grape tomato cut in half and a 1/2 slice of cucumber. The baked ziti was overcooked and dry, and the small coating of cheese on top was burnt. The lasagna was a 1/2 portion, and also burnt and dry. We will NEVER return! Literally dark and gloomy inside not the quaint and cozy look they may be going for. 16.00 with tip bought us a small dry and tough pepperoni pizza. Something has changed. A few years ago I used to look forward to this particular restaurant and despite the recent reviews I wanted to try it again. The fettuccine Alfredo is the best and the penne alla vodka is delicious, the shrimp Parmesan is very fulfilling and the pizza is amazing especially their pepperoni pizza it is out of this world, their deserts end the meal beautifully . The woman who answered the phone didn't even understand English and kept asking me to repeat the order. This time I picked up the food on time once again and the food was just being started when I arrived. They told me they were really busy. Which I know sometimes business gets busy. So today I called. Someone picked up and put me on hold. I hung up after 10 minutes and called back. Same thing happened.
