East coast pizza is definitely a must when we are visiting back home! Every time we come, we alway want to stop and try a new place for my girlfriend to experience since this is what I grew up with! Sal's is a pizza shop located in Mantua! We've been ordering from them for years and we are never disappointed! This time we were having a little get together and decided to grab some pizza for everyone! We grabbed a plain cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza! Sorry I did not grab pictures before the pizza was devoured!! The pizza shop is your average pizza shop in the area! They have a wide variety of options to choose from. Their restaurant is tucked into a shopping center and is decent size with tables and chairs if you want to eat there! The service is fast and friendly. The pizza was delicious! I loved the crust as well as the pizza sauce! Everything combined tasted so good and created an almost perfect pizza! We would have just preferred the bottom to be a bit more crispy! This was my second time trying Sal's pizza. I want to like the pizza because it is close by. But, you're better off making a further drive to a different pizza shop if that's what you're craving. I ordered Sicilian- the dough itself wasn't bad- but the sauce and cheese were really bland. I had to put a ton of seasonings on to enjoy it. The shop is really quick with orders so that's one plus- I would consider eating here again; just not for pizza. read more

This is a nice place to eat in, or take out. The menu has lots of great choices & the food is always very good. They even offer a tortilla pizza, which is pizza made using a tortilla instead of dough. A great option for diabetics! The workers are always pleasant & get the food out to you quickly. Great little spot outta the way pizzeria in an older shopping center. It's been there forever and the food gets better even in these rough hard times. Inflation/deflation has put a hurting on some of these businesses but Sal's keeps rolling with the punches. Pizzas always good with a nice crispy crust. The service here is always friendly. They always make my order quickly. I always get takeout and I have never had any issues. They are about as pricey as any other pizza place but the food is always hot and fresh. Everything I have had from here is delicious. The fries are my favorite because they're skinny. Nice sized pizza joint we have over here with spacious seating. Place looks clean and the staff is friendly and accommodating, with the owner greeting everyone who comes in. I believe he was the owner, the way he carried himself, asking if everything was OK . Nice displays of specialty pies along with a good sized menu. They also have some of their own creations. They make something with a homemade pizza dough stuffed with a hot dog and cheese. It looked good, something better or equal to a pretzel dog if you ask me, difference is this is a quarter pound hot dog they use. I ordered a couple slices and I must say this is probably one of the better spots I have been to in or around the area . Great flavor where you can taste everything, a good crust where it was eatable. This is located in a shopping center with little life to it, that's the only down fall. If Sal moved his shop a block or 2 further up, he would definitely dominate. I will not go out of my way , but when I do frequent the area I'd definitely be back in for a slice or 2. Shoot I just might even try one of their sandwiches, or a cheesesteak. I saw one of their sandwiches, which by the way looks like it is is pretty big and filling . Recently ordered 2 large cheese and one large sausage pizza for lunch. Very solid and tasty pizza. For a large, the pizza was slightly smaller than expected and the slice did have a significant flop. However, the taste was above average. The sausage was also above average. Kudos for the very quick service. I would definitely order from here again. read more

Recently moved from California to the Jersey area and I have been on the hunt for a good pizza place. I wanted to play it safe so I ordered half cheese and pepperoni/ sausage. The pizza wasnt mind blowing but good enough. The crust definitely was tasty and that's saying alot since I don't typically like to finish my crust. We also ordered hot wings. The chicken had a good crunch to them and I did enjoy them. So this place isn't in the category of going out of your way to make a trip but if you are nearby definitely stop in. read more

Sals has the BEST white veggie pizza anywhere. Fresh ricotta, broccoli, tomatoes, garlic mozzarella baked on a perfect thin crisp crust. The burgers are fresh and juicy. And the eggplant parm is so tender (Hand sliced and breaded) Sals food is prepared with homemade love The owner and staff are incredibly personable and friendly Beware, when it's busy time, its busy..because their food is that good. I think Sal's has changed their pizza cheese, for the worse. For MANY years I sang Sal's praises far and wide. I loved their pizza; they were the best locally. When I ordered one recently, it didn't make me happy. I believe it was the cheese which has changed and was unappetizing and no longer yummy. I refrigerated the leftover slices, as I always do, but eventually forced myself to try one and found it unpalatable, tossing them all out. BTW: although there were certain topping combinations at Sal's which I always enjoyed, they have never had good sausage - it's always been slices(!) of wan, flavorless meat. read more
