Contrary to the name, Sal's has a lot more than just pizza. Although for pizza they do have the thick crust square pizza as well as round pizzas. They also have salads, sandwiches, and pasta. It was our first time trying Sal 's Pizzeria - needless to say we will be coming back here. This Sal's is located next to a variety of different restaurants next to it so there are plenty of covered seats outside. Each slice was $4.75 a piece which is not too bad. I ordered a slice of The White pizza and it was delicious! If you are a big fan of cheese then this is for you - this pizza had mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan, and I'm sure other cheeses I can't remember the name of. There is no pizza sauce on the pizza instead they use olive oil. My husband said the pepperoni and cheese slices were also delicious. I'll definitely be getting The White slice again. We miss East Coast pizza. This is the closest we've found. Ordering has always been easy, and we got hooked when Sal's offered free delivery during COVID. I'm on the hunt for the best pizza spot in foothill ranch and I have to say, Sal's is not it. Not even close. Walking into the restaurant, I noticed the staff were grooving to some hip hop music while cooking. I'm a huge hip hop fan so I didn't mind, but there were some kids in the shop that probably shouldn't be listening to the profanity. Either way, I'm firm believer that in order to make good food, you gotta be cooking in a good environment. So based on how chill the staff seemed, I expected the food to hit, but I could not have been more wrong. I ordered the Nonna Lucia (basically a margarita pizza) and it was mediocre at best. The biggest flaw was the crust. It was overcooked, making it very hard and unpleasant to chew. And I'm not just talking about the end of the pizza, the entire bread areas were hard. Additionally the overall flavor was not there. I also ordered the garlic knots which were better, but were heavily drenched in olive oil, making that the most prominent flavor. In the end I won't be coming back to Sal's. While the staff seemed chill, the lack of dedication put in the food gives the restaurant an apathetic vibe that will deter any lover of decent pizza. read more

Pizza came out super soggy. And this is eating it straight after it came out of the oven. Maybe need to heat it more? Not sure but came here with high expectations as our family enjoyed Sals at Mission Viejo and everything from the crust and toppings were on point there. We were the only ones who ordered and we had to wait 10 - 15 minutes for our sandwich and heating up the slice of cheese that was on display. I was a bit surprised on a Friday night there were no garlic knots ready to go and we didn't want to wait, so we got some slices of margherita and one of grandma's bread crumb and onions. Overall decent pizza- I appreciated that the pizza was not overly greasy, and loved that when we asked for extra marinara that they gave it to us nice and warm for dipping. I was searching for a local pizza joint that was highly rated when I discovered Sal's Pizzeria on Yelp. Sal's serves authentic Sicilian inspired pizza and Italian foods, and they claim to only use fresh ingredients. They have a few locations in the OC including Foothill Ranch, Mission Viejo and Tustin. We ordered from the Foothill location which can be found in the food court off of Towne Center Drive. The menu options include grandma pies, Sicilian style pizza, NY style pizza, garlic knots, meatballs, salads, traditional favorites like Stromboli and calzones, pasta, sandwiches and desserts. I ordered the pepperoni pinwheel which was served with a side of marinara sauce. It must've been yummy because my daughter inhaled the entire thing for dinner. Given I did not eat the pizza slices until the next day, I could still taste the quality and the cheesiness out of the home oven. I heart NY style pizza, so I had to try the cheese, pepperoni and mushroom & pepperoni. I pre-ordered my pizza on a Friday night at around 4:30pm for a 6:30pm pickup knowing it was going to be busy. Arrived around 6:40pm to pick up my pizza and was told that it was still going to be at least 20 mins for my pizza to be ready. I'm assuming they missed/forgot about my order. But the unfortunate part was that no one cared. None of the employees did anything to try to compensate, and they didn't even apologize. And to top it off pizza was mid. I started visiting Sal's in Foothill Ranch, per my Uncle's recommendation, when I moved to California in January 2024. Every Tuesday, they have a BOGO special where you basically get two slices of pizza for $4.85 out the door. I've been visiting almost every Tuesday ever since, because their pizza is fantastic! Sal's is like Terra Mia's - or Terra Mia's is like Sal's - in that they offer different varieties of large, New York style slices of pizza. They use real Italian sausage on their pepperoni & sausage and their Works pizza, which I think tastes superior to regular sausage. I recommend examining their pizzas when you walk in and seeing which flavors look fresh. As with any pizza, they are much better when they are fresh out of the oven, but, sometimes they sit awhile, and with a trained eye, you can tell when they have sat and when they are fresh. To be clear, everything gets thrown back in the oven when you order it, but if its sat awhile before hand, it won't taste as fresh. The workers here are friendly and cooperative. (Hat tip to Brendan). This Sal's is located next to the Cinemark theater in the food court plaza that includes a Cold Stone. Easy to access from Bake Pkwy. You can sit inside or outside, although indoor seating is slightly limited. The vibe inside does feel more like a takeout place than a sitdown restaurant, but that doesn't stop me from sitting inside and enjoying my meal anyway. Highly recommended on Tuesdays. After watching a movie, we decided to grab some slices at Sal's. Man, I wish there was a Sal's closer to home in LA cause I would definitely be a regular. It's probably very good, but after eating this after the Grandma slice - there was just no competition as far as what I liked more. You have to order ahead of time! They make their pizza the traditional way. We waited about 15 minutes, no people in front of us when we ordered. It came out HOT. I love the flavor but my boyfriend said it needed more salt, which they had for him. I really prefer under salted to over.
