I was curious about this place as I used to go there when it was flippin pizza and I have to say this place really surprised me. Called in for order, and 20 mins later it was ready. Staff was super friendly and food was hot. Yes the place was empty but it's because we need to fill it in. :) Anyway I got the chicken bbq pizza (large) and it was fantastic! I'm always on the search for delicious gluten free pizza, and I was happily surprised to find that Marcelino Pizza offered it. I had never been there before, but my father-in-law has ordered their pasta and said he enjoyed it, along with the friendly service. Upon arrival, I was surprised how big it was inside. I don't know why I was expecting a smaller place. I had ordered my pizza online and it was ready at the time they said it would be. They're located in the Sprouts shopping center off of RSM Pkwy, next to Terra Sushi and Mulleady's Pub. Plenty of parking is available in the shared lot. I ordered the 10" cauliflower crust gluten-free pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and olives. I was glad that it was only 10" as I don't like to eat pizza for days. The crust was a little soggy in the middle, but crispy on the outside, thus the 4 stars instead of 5. The taste was delicious overall. I believe the pizza was around $20, which is reasonable. My mom wanted to try the pizza here and invite us along and who would say no to that!? I never did visit when it was Flippin', so not sure how that pizza was. Restaurant was clean and comfortable and there's plenty of parking in the shopping plaza. I like how they have samples of the pizza in the case to see what the different options look like. There was also a bar on the left and they were serving beer & wine. Person that took our order helped us quickly and let me know what wines they were serving that night. We ordered a large pepperoni & mushroom and two wines and a fountain drink. The pizza was good, I love thin crust and the mushrooms were delish (they also didn't put too many/too little). Between the three of us, it was just enough. The chardonnay was really good. Total for all was about $50. The pizza was $30 (little high but I know prices are going up everywhere). I ordered a bit late last night but even though they were about to close they took my order and delivered it lightning fast. Super nice lady on the phone. Super nice delivery man. On to the pizza. It's the best New York style pizza I've had around this part of OC. The consistency of the dough was perfect. Thin and delicious and sliced perfectly. Not too big or too small. Easily bendable and easy to fold. Perfect amount of pepperoni and grease. My girlfriend and I are so glad we finally called Marcelino. We will be ordering from them a lot more. We intended to dine at Terra Sushi next door but changed my kind last minute to give this place a try. Bad decision! Thankful we did not order a whole pizza. My brother ordered just one slice to try; disappointed! I ordered lasagna thinking it will be a cube cut, 2-3 inches high like we all know what a portion of lasagna should look like Well server brought a plate to me, it was flat on the plate with 3 lasagna pasta!!! I didn't even want to eat it because it was not what I pictured and it should not be served looking like it did. It was $17.99; menu said multiple layers yet my portion was 3 lasagna pasta ; just done! This is how flat it came out on my plate; I took a few bites then slid it off into the to go container. We won't be back here again! I don't know how to reply to the business owner directly so here is the reply: Thank you for your reply but as I've said, we wouldn't be back! I don't need to lie so your comment regarding me taking "half" of my lasagna home is a LIE!!! Like I've said, it was flat looking nothing like a stacked lasagna. My brother paid for the meals so I never knew the price the "special". If it was a full $17.99, my question is my lasagna at 2 inches thick and perhaps 3 inches in length like a normal chunk of lasagna from an actual lasagna pan? What I was served for the "special" was 2 lasagna noodles flattened across the plate which did not looked good for eat! Zero star for presentation. Won't argue with you and I'm glad your "locals" haven't complained It was true the server did inquired twice but o personally did not want to deal with the disappointment of my "lasagna". We didn't want another "flat" lasagna to be made, if offered. As for the salad, chopped romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes and sprinkle cheese wasn't a salad!!! Also I've had better garlic bread elsewhere...sorry I didn't take a pic of me tossing my to go food! I'll start with 3 stars as this is our first time here. I like the setting inside. We were curious though why such a nice looking place was so slow on a Saturday night. Our pizza was decent. Nothing to brag about but not bad. Very thin which we prefer. There was some grease to drip off the pizza, but definitely not much compared to other places. The garlic knots had no flavor. The were not bad, just very little flavor. The mozzarella sticks were completely flavorless as well. They also had a weird taste, seemed like in the breading. The next part was the best part which immediately took me to yelp to read some reviews. After we finished, I walked up to the register to order something else. To the left of the register is their display food. Now I don't know if the pizzas in the display are the ones they take the slices from, but I do know that the mozzarella sticks for display were completely moldy and discolored. If I'm not mistaking, is that not a health hazard? I'm pretty sure the health inspector would have a problem with this, and if the pizzas below are the ones they use for the slices, you'll never see me here again. The cheesecake was good, partially frozen though, lol. The canoli was good, but ridiculously tiny. A lot of signs of laziness and cheapness here but at a bit of a higher price. Overall we may try again, however if I ever see them pull slices of pizza for people only ordering one slice from the pizzas below those cheese sticks, I won't be back. read more

Ordered the pepperoni and BBQ chicken pizza, DELICIOUS!!! The pizza was amazingly good. Pizza was thin and had a nice crunch. The bbq sauce on the pizza was tasty and the chicken was delicious. Pepperoni pizza, was what you'd expect. I'm not sure what the one star reviewers are talking about. I think they're only hating because flippin pizza is gone. Stop hating and enjoy the pizza. Was greeted by Marcel, the owner who took our order at the counter. We asked for water to have with the craft beer we ordered while we waited for our large combo pizza. Marcel came by our table and offered us fresh lemon slices for our water that he said he picked from his own tree. He didn't know they were Meyer lemons. He said the tree was there when he moved from AK 3 years ago to his current home in OC. I told him that's what they were when I put a few slices in our cups, because we, too have a dwarf tree in our backyard. Very kind man. My husband ordered another pint and our pizza arrived about 10 minutes after placing our order. The crust was perfectly baked, thin, but not cracker thin. The sauce had bits of fresh garlic and was quite flavorful. The toppings were generous as well. In the 30 years my husband and I have been together, this is the first time he and I ate an entire large pizza (He ate the bulk of it to wash down his 3 .) and enjoyed every bite. We came here when it was flipping pizza, and the food was so good. Our first time back with the new owner was disappointing. They had zero selection for beer. Was either IPA or IPA. When asked why they were out of all the bottled beer, the owner stated "cuz it's the holidays and they're so expensive". And no juice for my kids. The pizza was cracker thin, which you'd think would make it crispy but it was soggy, limp cracker. Barely any cheese. We love New York style but this was terrible. Being a native New Yorker, can I take on pizza and how good or bad it tastes is very different from the average Californian. I definitely agree that Flippin pizza was a cut above anything I've tasted here, with the exception of Mobtown Pizza (which used to be in Aliso Viejo and had the BEST and really only Sicilian slices). Flippin had GREAT cheese calzones and AMAZING white and Sicilian (often referred to as Grandma's Pizza). With that said, I stopped by Marcelino in order two white slices, and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. I was disappointed that they didn't offer Sicilian by the piece, but only to order for an entire pie. They also didn't have too many different choices when I arrived (there were three). I was also a little disappointed that they got rid of the digital soda machine, because I really enjoyed my barks cream soda flavors. Overall, Marcelino is good pizza. read more

This place is truly crappy since it replaced Flippin. Their ingridients and sauce are not good, the cheese tastes like it's been lowered in quality.
